Don’t think you put together a championship-caliber organization by setting the bar at winning the Central.

That’s the same mentality that has dragged down the Sox for decades now.  

Knowing they’ve had all the advantages in the world vis a vis their divisional rivals hasn’t forced them to innovate like the Rays and Orioles in the face of the big three AL East teams of the past 2-3 decades.

After the past 2 seasons it's a reasonable first step..... for 2025.

I’m not sure the Orioles have innovated. Like the Nats before them, they lucked into the first pick in 2 years where the top prospect was a stud. The difference between Rutschman and Holliday versus Vaughn and Madrigal is pretty stark.

Does anyone else think that if the Sox start out 8-20 or something similarly horrible and they finally see what everyone else can see, that Pedro Grifol is not a major league manager, LaRussa somehow comes back into the dugout?

Getz definitely is organized.  For the first time the WhiteSox have an organization philosophy.  He also got all the department heads together and outlined their job description, responsibilities,  goals and how best to reach them.  I was told people were "blown away." No one had ever done anything like that before.  It's not going to happen overnight but Getz is turning this organization around.

When he was doing his previous job with the White Sox very mediocrely , since the guys before him didn’t give him a job description, didn’t tell him his responsibilities or goals, and didn’t tell him how best to reach them, did he ask?

The fortunately we are in the ALC line is what bothers me. It’s that mindset that has never led them to do all they can to dominate, which is what they should be doing.

Perhaps Getz will turn out to be a good FO man. But this is a small-market team, and there will be only so much he can do. Yes, they're fortunate to be in the AL Central, but what does that even mean? The Sox have won division title in the last 15 years.

What it means is they don’t have to be the best they can be and shoot lower. It’s why when they win a division but we’re still short and needed a RF and 2B you get Josh Harrison and a guy whi can’t play RF in AJ Pollock. And when they realize that, Gavin Sheets.
