Following the acquisition of infielder Munetaka Murakami (25), a major comeback from a longshot becomes a reality....The White Sox are strengthening their starting lineup, and they view Imai as an "ace pitcher." There are also reports that they are approaching him with a contract of around three years, rather than a long-term one of seven years. thxfrthmmrs Posted yesterday at 04:19 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:19 PM I think it’s a no brainer if the Sox could get Imai on a 3-4 year deal. If Imai performs like an ace atop this rotation this would be a fun team to watch.
WhiteSox2023 Posted yesterday at 04:20 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:20 PM No one must be offering him a long-term contract just like Murakami if a 3-year deal makes them a frontrunner.

WhiteSox2023 Posted yesterday at 04:26 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:26 PM (edited) Here are some words from the man himself (not specific to the White Sox). Didn’t realize Boras was his agent. They can’t draft higher than 10th in 2027. If both Murakami and Imai fall into their lap and you’re holding onto Robert because you don’t like offers, you might as well go semi-all in. Add Giolito. Add Bellinger. Add good talent while spending no draft picks.

We've been so used to bad luck and misfortune that being optimistic is slightly off-putting. 5

Obviously, if they sign Imai, that pushes everyone else down. Suddenly Burke could be leverage. One of the young guys could come up in relief. Adding good players makes everyone you have more useful. fathom Posted yesterday at 04:53 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:53 PM I’m thinking this is a ploy to get other teams to raise their bid, as the Sox making this work once allows them to be seen as a threat

SoCalChiSox Posted yesterday at 05:02 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:02 PM If we get him, it means Ishbia is basically doing the spending and we probably have a much more liberal budget than something south of 100m.

SoCalChiSox Posted yesterday at 05:09 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:09 PM If we really are trying to win, it doesn't make sense to trade Robert for 30 cents on the dollar.

Princess Dye Posted yesterday at 05:13 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:13 PM (edited) if this had just become a pop up signing i would believe it but now it feels like the Murakami thing is being used to make us a new leverage source. i feel like most rumors end up being stuff that actually had just fizzled out and then became a leak of a past talk Edited yesterday at 05:14 PM by Princess Dye

2Deep Posted yesterday at 05:18 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:18 PM I appreciate the positivity from you all BUT I'm not there yet. This is just a random rumor unless we do sign him. I don't believe any of the "white sox are interested" rumors because we have heard that many times only to see players/agents use this crap organization to try and raise the price for a player. I will let myself be flabbergasted if this really happens.
