The reason they signed McCann to a 1 year, $2.5M contract in 2019 was because he had be DFA'd the season before. However, he was still arbitration eligible due to service time - so they negotiated the 1 year, $5.4M contract. There was no sneaking in a second year option. This team still knows how to win games when Cease, Dunning, and Lopez start, going a combined 16-11 (starter's record 8-7). Dylan Cease - 6-6 (5-4) Dane Dunning - 6-1 (2-0) Reynaldo Lopez - 4-4 (1-3) Game 3 isn't a lock with any of these guys, but quit acting like the season is over if we lose today or tomorrow. Lot of baseball to play and I'm not writing them off yet.

Having Collins on the bench, allowing McCann and Grandal to both bat, is worth more than Gio, Jace Fry, or the 6+ ERA safety blanket Jimmy Cordero. Especially now that Bummer and Crochet are in the pen.
