They could have brought him back for less. Huge downgrade to the catcher position.6 points

He's literally been one of the best relievers in baseball in *each* of the last 5 seasons.5 points

McCann was gone as soon as they signed Grandal. There’s no playing time for him. He played in 30 games last year. The Sox made their choice. Grandal will put up a 5 WAR season catching full time next year. Everything will be fine.5 points

Sox to James: James we have an offer you can't refuse: we'll pay you less, with less years, to get less playing time than you would in New York. James: Where do I sign?5 points
-
Yeah, huge downgrade. My goodness give this ignorance a rest.5 points

Yes, because the GOP is perfectly willing to adopt a compromise position on gun rights.4 points

This is 100% true, but I hope somehow in this dumb world a seed is planted on a soxtalk board, is stolen from a fleeting grifter, gets seen by steve stone and others, serves as a subliminal message, suddenly they see things like flights to LA, and the very common girls name STELLA everywhere they go, and when they have a daily team meeting, all they can say is La Stella? Should we sign La Stella? And when it all happens they will think it was their idea the whole time, and that's ok. I do this for all of us.4 points

Hahn was super smug and arrogant about Machado too and JR pulled the rug out from under him financially then too.3 points

Why would he sign a contract as a backup when it was obvious a couple teams needed a starter? Maybe if he was coming off a bad season but he was in a great position for a really nice contract. He would have been a fool not to test free agency.3 points

You need to stop Jack. You will literally take one single rumor or data point that happens to be the most pessimistic view possible and just run with it. How can someone live this way?3 points

Bruce Levine has been saying for months that the Sox had like $30 million to spend. He also said Hendriks is the focus. He’s just real bad at math I think. Hendriks is absolutely their focus. I think another starter is on the radar as well.3 points
-
The White Sox are 100% in on Hendriks. I’m expecting payroll to be around $140 million. Something like Hendriks, Quintana, Brad Miller and some minor league deals sounds about right3 points

Eaton’s injury prone rep is a little overblown. His 2017 injury was slipping on a wet base, and his 2018 injury was a surgery to clean a flap in his ankle which appears to have happened on the same play. You then look at his 2019 season. Compare his 2019 numbers to his numbers his last 2 seasons with the White Sox, they are almost identical. Defensively he has slid a bit. Maybe coming back and exclusively playing RF will get him back a bit. He does play hard, and is basically playing for his career.3 points
-
You do not want to see him back because he was good but the team sucked so he never got wins? Strange3 points

Yeah, I know his production has been good. Id never bet on him though.2 points

Jack, I love you man, but this is an awful take. Just terrible.2 points

At some point “luck” becomes a skill. When you have 100+ innings of results you should probably doubt the stats. Are you also predicting the demise of TA?2 points

His peripherals blow. Can't count on a low babip again. All it takes is those ground balls to start finding holes2 points

Tony La Russa is the 2nd most powerful man in the organization IMO.2 points

I like that he is edgy. We have lots of nice guys. Edgy is a good counterbalance to all that nice.2 points

Buy out TLR and tell him to GTFO and pretend like none of this ever happened.2 points

I think the Mets are going to regret paying him like a starter and viewing him as the solution to their problem at C.2 points

Your so unable to handle any disappointment that you must convince yourself that the worst possible outcome is the most likely? What a sad way to go about life man.2 points

No way. We still talk about the Election of 1800 and 1876. 2000 is definitely talked about as well. This is one for the history books.2 points

It’s funny because I want Hendriks, I think he specifically is worth it, but the relief market is the one I WOULD feel good bargain hunting. There is a lot of talent, and getting a guy like bradley and letting pen figure it out doesn’t seem so bad. I don’t know if I prefer Hendriks + Q at say, 24 mill vs Bradley (6.5?) + Paxton (14?) + McGee (4.5) or even an interesting Bradley + McGee + Sugano + la Stella ❤️ at 27 mill2 points

One side effect of this is the president who lost by a little over 7 million votes refused to assist the President-elect transition into power, and he did so during a huge national crisis. And he did it just because his over-inflated ego couldn't handle the fact that his orange ass got kicked. The other disturbing thing is that there are plenty of people who still buy what this con-man says even though he lies every time he opens his mouth. If you are really worried about losing your individual rights or your 401ks or what ever, do you really think orange-ade gives a shit? Think again, or maybe think for the first time.2 points

Considering we drafted him as high as we did and players drafted after him were included in the top 100 prospects lists and Crochet wasn't even a mention. Yeah, I'd say he wasn't as highly thought of as he is now that people have seen what he can do. That's what I was saying. If people would have seen what he did, injury free, 102 MPH... he would have been a top 3 pick. We got lucky there wasn't a college season and he didn't get a chance to showcase what he did in the majors.2 points

Anybody who thinks a player should have spoken up mid season has no sense of reality. It was hard enough for ONE player to speak up after the fact. Nobody is ratting out their teammates in the middle of a championship run, and staying quiet doesn’t make them in the wrong.2 points

That's a rough break for Portillos. If you lose Orlando, you've lost Soxtalk.2 points

For a team with world series aspirations? Yeah. That's underwhelming. When the Yankees think they need help they sign Cole. When the Dodgers do, they trade for Betts. When the Nats did, they signed Corbin. When the Red Sox were ready, they traded for Sale and signed JD Martinez at his peak. When the Astros thought they were ready, they signed Reddick, Beltran, and eventually traded for Verlander. When the Cubs were ready, they signed Heyward, Zobrist, and traded for Chapman.2 points

Jack, you know this is wrong right? In a normal year the sox make the playoffs, they were actually hurt by the stupid new format where 2 teams from every division get in. They would be the second WC in a regular year. The central would have 3 playoff teams and the other two divisions 1 each.2 points

Yeah, you should have received something you can pencil into your line up for at least a decade for 2 months of 34 year old Melky Cabrera.2 points

I dislike the 2 party system. Which is why I rarely vote for either in the Presidential election. They both are too extremely recently. Not enough moderates.1 point

It sounds like Hendriks wants to be here but typical Reinsdorf being cheap. I don’t think Hahn is doing anything wrong, he’s just stuck with an owner who isn’t interested in spending money or doing what it takes to win championships. I’m now expecting them to resign Colome, maybe add Quintana and that’s it. Very underwhelming and disappointing.1 point

Why wouldn’t they? They had the 5th best record. They’d be in the playoffs.1 point

Dahl for 3 mill is nice. Good move by Rangers. As much as I would have liked Dahl on the White Sox or that price, I'm not sure that there was room. I don't even know if I would have rather had Dahl over Eaton... Dahl hasn't been good.1 point

You want propaganda over honest accurate assessments and commentary? At times, sometimes key times, Grandal has the attention span of a 4 year old in a juice box soccer league. He is also not known for his game preparation or management. A few of the reasons the Sox selected McCann over Grandal to catch the rookie starters.1 point

Nationals are going to Rochester instead of Richmond. Astros have settled in nearby Sugar Land for AAA which they now own. At least two independents have become part of the MiLB system. It will take a while for all of the MLB realignment plans to take place.1 point
