  1. Out of all the terrible nicknames this board has come up with in it's time this is definitely one of the worst.

  2. Mods - Can we please temporarily ban Parkman until after the trade deadline, so we don’t have endure hot takes like “Vaughn won’t hit enough to be a 1B”?

  4. Sure, try to get better at the trade deadline. But a cool idea would be to also try to get better in the offseason ?‍♂️

  5. Why the hell are we talking about the Cubs potential off-season plans in a trade deadline thread? Let’s worry about our own problems.

  6. In 8 games in AA, Colas has a whopping 5 HRs and an OPS north of 1.400. The guy is 23 and has experience in the Japan professional league. The Sox called Vaughn right up from A+. Why not Colas? He's lefty and plays a better corner OF than any of the bums currently on this squad.

  7. I don't care. I'll take the larger sample. You can focus on whatever fits your narrative, but your narrative is stupid. Vaughn is an awesome bat.

  8. Vaughn has 120 wRC+ against RHP in 2022. Stop with the non sense.

  10. Most people on here would hate Gallo even if he came here and hit, but man, I love the idea of buying low on him.

  11. So much of the Moncada discourse on here is insufferable. The Sox went 20 years between having 4 WAR players at 3b. Between 2019-2021, he had a higher wRC+ than Manny Machado, Kris Bryant, & Nolan Arenado. The guy struggles to play through injuries for 2 months and everyone acts like that's who he is now. I'll never understand it.

  15. Quite remarkable. I suppose desperation is a stinky cologne, but good money after bad is what this team does really well. Why not sell out some more future talent because of the way this team was built? That's the Chicago way.

  17. Count me in this camp. Burger is so limited defensively, and double blocked at pretty much any position he could play for the Sox, that he is the exact type of piece I would love to see them use for a trade, versus someone else who could actually help the team in the next few years.

  18. I see it coming....we win just enough to create false illusion we still can sneak in playoffs, so we trade what little trading chips w have in the farm for a past his prime vet who will do nothing for us. Its the White Sox way

  19. That would be an atrocious trade for two months of Quintana IMO.

  20. Carlos Rodon being angry in the dugout is a big nothing to me. So he kicked a bat... big deal. It's not like he planned on hitting his teammate. And as far as him wearing down, look at the White Sox starting pitching. One guy was so bad that he got DFAed, one has a knee that probably won't ever be 100 percent again and one guy isn't as dominant anymore without the sticky stuff. The White Sox should have absolutely tendered him an offer or extended him. Hell his dominant start at the beginning of the year would have the White Sox over .500 now and I think that's worth something even if he does tire towards the end of the season.

  21. White Sox fans talk about adding a sixth starter this deadline to help manage Kopech's workload. An argument can also be made for helping the rest of the staff get through 2022 after the shortened Spring Training and also various injuries the staff has suffered, Tony La Russa went with Lance Lynn in Game 1 in the 2021 ALDS, in part, because he felt Lance was the best pitcher to pitch on short rest. However, during Lance's first 1 2/3 seasons here, and during his career, he has pitched far more effectively with extra rest. Lance Lynn will be coming off of five days rest for his start tomorrow. 2022 4 Days Rest 5 GS; 0-3; 9.72 ERA (Includes 6/13 start after 4 days rest between minor league rehab start and first MLB start) 5 Days Rest 1 GS; 0-0; 0.00 ERA 6 Days Rest 2 GS; 1-0; 2.45 ERA 2021 4 Days Rest 11 GS; 5-3; 3.38 ERA 5 Days Rest 8 GS; 4-1; 1.99 ERA 6 + Days Rest 9 GS; 2-2; 2.45 ERA Career 4 Days Rest 138 GS; 58-46; 3.83 ERA 5 Days Rest 90 GS; 37-23; 3.43 ERA 6 + Days Rest 43 GS; 18-9; 3.09 ERA

  23. So it’s very clear to me the farm system is still very bad and what looks like a solid draft isn’t going to magically change that. However, it’s definitely improving and I think we’re quickly moving away from the bottom. Here are a handful of reasons we should be optimistic: Colson’s Montgomery: Has put up a ~150 wRC+ across A ball this year as a 20 year old, is sporting a BB % higher than his K % in A+, and is now ranked #52 in BA’s top 100 Oscar Colas: Entered season in great shape flashing at least four plus tools; despite battling rust and a wrist injury, put up a 127 wRC+ in A+ and is currently destroying AA Lenyn Sosa: Breakout season in AA at 22 where he was arguably the league’s best hitter posting a 142 wRC+ with improved BB %, K %, and power (29 HR / 600 PA pace) Bryan Ramos: 20 year old starting to turn his plus bat speed & raw power into in-game power with a 26 HR / PA 600 pace; has also improved his K % while maintaining BB % Jose Rodriguez: Slow start to season as a 21 year old in AA, but has really picked it up over his last ~150 PAs posting a 127 wRC+ with improving K % while swiping 23 bases Carlos Perez: 25 year old catcher continues to flash unique offensive profile in AAA with high contact (8.5% K rate) and good power (28 HR / 600 PA) with improving BB % Yoelqui Cespedes: Has made major improvements in his BB % over his last 100 PAs, jumping from 2.6% to 13.9% without any change to K % and minimal decline in ISO Luis Mieses: 22 year old having solid season with 115 wRC+ and league leading 31 doubles in High A; flashing major league platoon OF potential with .880 OPS vs. RHP DJ Gladney: Significant improvement in repeat season at Low A increasing his wRC+ from 73 to 107 with improved K % and league leading 16 HRs (26 HR / 600 PA pace) That’s just nine positive developments and it only includes full season positional guys. I’m sure someone could add pitchers & rookie ball players and quickly find another dozen. I do think credit should be given to Barkett & Johansen as we are actually seeing young guys get better vs. stagnating and eventually flaming out. Hopefully Getz has finally fixed the hitting side of the player development function and we’ll see continued returns into the coming years.

  26. This. Plus Vera. Savages cannot be moved. We're not going to rob Peter to pay Paul when Paul is a mediocre .500 team that will get wrecked in the playoffs by NYY or HOU regardless of who we add. Sell high on Cueto.

  29. A lot of people love Gallos on base skills I just can’t get past how much he can’t hit anymore. The guy is over a year as a.160 hitter now, I just don't see a new setting helping him get better nor do I see him making this offense better. If gallo were the only choice I guess I would say long live Engel

  30. Happ has hardly played any RF. This definitely feels like a Pollock situation where he'll be just awful in RF. Happ has versatility, but he's frankly not a good defender anywhere, so not sure how much it really helps you. You can stick him in RF and at 2B, but team defense is going to suffer even more at 2B, and probably just more of the same in RF. Not completely opposed to Happ depending on the price, and he certainly helps some lineup balance issues, but he isn't a perfect fit and I am DEFINITELY not giving up Colas for him. I'd rather just stick Colas in RF. I would enjoy a Wendle acquisition.

  32. What I don’t get is what is the plan with Happ if you trade for him? There’s still the mess with Vaughn/Eloy/Abreu for next season. I don’t think Happ is a good fit for RF, as he has finally got comfortable in LF.

  33. I don't think any Sox fans would. I like Happ, but with what Colas has done since his AA promotion, he's probably off the table unless the trade is for Reynolds. Happ is a nice player, but I don't think he moves the needle enough to warrant trading Colas.

  34. Yoan Moncada was the #1 prospect in baseball. His expectation level is heightened because of that. He had a OPS+ of 116 in 2021 (good) sandwiched between a below average 2020 and so far, a bad 2022 at the plate. Even the good 2021, he only hit 14 HRs. If Yoan Moncada has pleased your expectations for him, then good for you. But I expected more from him when he was acquired. Good, solid player. Has not been the star we all had hoped for. Grandal started 2021 hitting like .185 until June although he was drawing a ton of walks. There's going to be some fans who get mad about a sub .200 batting average (even if it's not considered too relevant in the modern game, especially if you're drawing walks and hitting for power). He had a monster 2nd half and I don't think there was much complaining about him. He was maybe our best offensive player in the 2nd half. I don't recall a lot of hate about his offense. He also signed a big free agent contract so carries expectations. Joey Gallo would be coming here with no expectations. If he hits here like he did in Texas, he wouldn't receive hate. At least not from the vast majority of fans.

  36. Cristian Mena's 19-year-old season has got to be mentioned here: 11.07 K/9 vs. 2.52 BB/9 with a 1.12 WHIP in Low A-ball. High-A is worse, but he's hilariously young there: 10.04 K/9, 5.19 BB/9, 1.54 WHIP.

  37. I can’t say I’ve followed him at all, just that he’s totally flopped in NY. I don’t expect him to rebound if he were here, I simply don’t ever want to see Gavin Sheets play for the White Sox again.

  40. One good thing about the White Sox being a Mickey Mouse organization is that Hahn has no reason to make short-sighted trades in hopes of saving his job because he knows he will never be fired. Any short-sighted trade he makes is just because he's bad at his job.

  43. yea we had a billy badass coach in HS that played college ball that told us to look for that one among a zillion other things. in MLB you never see this stuff because 1) by MLB level self selection has it all but eliminated and 2) you have actual base coaches that are smart and paying attention to help the players out. this entire coaching staff is poor and that transcends whoever the manager is year to year. why the fuck do boston and joe still have jobs? Stupid loyalty is why.

  45. So thankful for the TLR wisdom to drop Tepera for a more expensive & injured Kelly who couldn't even start the season. TLR didn't want Tepera after his Astro's cheat comments and thought a torn biceps was a better choice. Gosh he's so smart! We can all learn so much baseball from him!
