  13. Gio chose to change his body this season...I believe reports were he added 30 pounds of muscle. If the muscle gain changed his velocity for the worse, perhaps taking away some of his arm/elbow/shoulder spasticity, not sure what you expect Katz to do about it. Why a guy who was pitching the best ball of his life decided to remake his body is just beyond me.

  14. The perks of living in SO. Cal I guess Got Muhammed ALi's autograph a long time ago just by being in Hollywood at the Famous little bar next to the Pantages Theater called the Frolic Room and ALi walked in.

  15. Hahn didn’t help the season by failing to upgrade the offense in the trade deadline. It’s almost criminal wasting the great pitching with the mediocre offense.

  17. I think it's a big ass tease but I am roped back in again. Houston will probably kick their ass, but who knows. What I do know is, I'm going to that game on Tuesday. Verlander vs Cease, probably the top 2 pitchers in the running for Cy Young going head-to-head. That is going to be some must-watch baseball. And if memory serves the Sox actually did pretty well against Verlander last time they faced him. I know Abreu usually crushes the guy. So maybe I'll get lucky. I'll be bringing my tigers fan friend with me. He's stoked to see Verlander pitch.

  18. Yea it’s not a huge problem. What about just telling him to walk every AB and grind down pitchers. “We actually don’t want you to square up baseballs any more. Just foul off 10 every AB.”

  19. Look this team hasn't shown any pride or ego this year and it has shown. If it takes beating Detroit to get them thinking big again, it doesn't matter.

  22. What's up with all these minor league players pulling the ball for HR's. Don't they know in the Majors you have to go opposite field to get hits ??? Fuck HR's !!

  26. Cueto said they needed more fire. The manager said they didn't. Vaughn said they needed more fire Seems like a lot of these guys (unsurprisingly) think La Russa is a dipshit

  29. No such thing as momentum against the Kitties. They weren't exactly kicking their asses. If the Sox can call up Colas for the games against Houston and Guardians I think a lot more of us tune in . But I'm 95% sure the Sox won't do it.

  30. The Tigers have the 3rd worst record in the league. We're just a week removed from dropping 3 of 4 against a terrible Royals squad. These next 7 games are going to be make or break for this team. If they can't move past Houston and Cleveland, I don't think it ever happens this year.

  31. That is what happens when you get extra base hits. It helps to play the Tigers, too.

  33. Can they keep this winning streak going? I say yes while realizing there is nothing consistent about this team other then knowing at some point in a game they will have us fans expressing our displeasure in whatever bad decisions the coaches and players are sure to make during a game.

  34. I was looking up Giolito's baseball savant data and he has lost 1.1 inches of carry off his fastball, 0.9 mph of velocity and has gone from having above average horizontal movement to straight as an arrow. I think his decline can be attributed to that, as all of his other pitches are set up from his fastball. If this is sticky stuff related then idk if he will be a good pitcher again.

  36. All well and good however what are we saving him for ? Every year of the rebuild the team gets worse and worse. If the Sox can make the playoffs this year they might need Colas to do it. With the guys in charge there's no guarantee the Sox reach the playoffs at all in Cola's tenure with the Sox. He can hit lefties and righties so there's no built in disadvantage to playing him every day and most of his power comes against RHP so that fits the bill nicely. Good players become great when they are in the playoffs all the time and can become legends. If you can't perform with a minor spotlight on you in Chicago , how are you going to do it in the playoffs or World Series ? All I know is he is better than the guys playing the field and batting right now. If there's going to be some adjustment period let him get it over with now. Sosa may not have been ready but so what ? He's learning on the job. That's a newbie and a rookie for you. He had one good game and he's very capable of more. Play Colas against the Astros and Guardians . Everyone is expecting the Sox to get their asses kicked but how cool would it be to win a lot of those games with Colas in the lineup ? It might change some minds about the Sox chances in the playoffs.

  37. Not really, La Russa continues to make head scratching and asinine decisions on a daily basis. It’d be the same thing as last year, the team winning in-spite of TLR.

  38. The inability to hit the ball in the air is causing this. You get a ball in the air to the outfield with a runner on third with less than two outs and more times than not, that runner will score. It's infuriating. It's really down to the horrible approach Menechino is taking with them. I also maintain that the firing Menechino is way more important than firing La Russa. The Sox problem is simple this year. They aren't hitting home runs. Our complaints about TLR are nullified if the Sox offense was doing what it was built to do.

  39. One more inning wouldn't have mattered. No way he coulda gone 9 and kept it under 100 pitches. The sport is to blame on this one not elderly TLR.

  40. Im no longer going to judge hitters on this team until we can get a hitting coach that can teach a modern day approach.
