Carlos Perez had 40 k’s in 418 ab last year in charlotte last year and then only 7 k’s in 159 ab in the Venezuelan league this offseason. That to go along with good power and by all accounts solid defense will play if we need another catcher to replace yaz this season. I think our resources need to be spent elsewhere.3 points

No. He's a very troubled individual - they don't need that kind of negative PR, headache, or distraction to the team. I'm pretty shocked he got off with no charges. Breaking someone's skull while having sex (whether it was consensual or not) is extremely fucked up.2 points

Machado hurt, but I understood. At the time, the Sox were loaded in the infield and it didn't really feel like the biggest need. Harper was the perfect fit. Age, money, face of the franchise, position of dire need. To not even offer was a slap in the face of every loyal Sox fan especially for what he signed for.2 points

On the Benitendi podcast, Garffein indicated they interviewed Grandal and are releasing the interview next week. Made it sound like it was revalatory/news worthy. Maybe he was dealing with something fixable??? Might provide insight into plans or maybe it is nothing and Chuck was pumping his podcast.1 point

What - Gallo is straight trash. Such a flawed player. You can tell me its okay his power will bounce back but Andrew is coming off multiple solid seasons and is just a good / solid all around player. Is he a superstar, no, but he's a good player, a quality hitter, a good baserunner, has speed, etc. He's just a flat out solid all around ball player. So much better than what the Twins did.1 point

I like it. Finally have a real left fielder. He’ll be a nice 2-hole hitter. Okay power. Lefty hitter. The 5th year is meh, but that’s probably what got him signed here. Honestly, the majority of this board would be pissed if the Astros or Yankees signed him for this deal.1 point

Tendi/Robert/Colas for the next 5 years is pretty solid actually. Defense alone will make the sox ERAs drop about .50 across the board the next two seasons (it was that bad). With the contract others got this year, you really can't complain.1 point
