This Sox team is truly awful. They suck in every aspect and don’t play hard at all. Grifol really should be fired.4 points

How long before he fouls a ball off his foot and is out another month? How long before Grandal is put on the IL with his "tight" hamstring? And how long will the Sox play shorthanded trying to figure out what to do with him?4 points

Pedro talked a good game. The problem is they didn't hire a manager that said you have some issues here, and you need to make changes. He told them what they wanted to hear. This team is stacked. A couple of coaching tweaks, a refreshed attitude, some luck with health, and there will be a parade where JR and RH can get on stage and tell the fans how dumb they are, and how smart the White Sox are. The bottom line is, if RH and KW think they are good at their jobs, they need to show Pedro the door. If Pedro and his staff aren't the problem, RH and KW need to walk out the door. It's one or the other or most likely, both.4 points

I'll say this for Vaughn. If we didn't have him, we'd have a cycle of 36-37 y.o. free agent 1B that were good 4 years ago and are on their way to retire. He is definitely outperforming that hypothetical with 0 WAR and at only a few million. So it took the 3rd overall pick, but it's saving Hahn a bunch of edwin encarnacions. Like I'd bet Carlos Santana would be our 1b without Vaughn. And uh, woops ok so he has a higher WAR due to DH but we are getting a nice 20% more offense and a cool $6 million back in JR's bank. Huge W for Jerry.4 points

I chose to watch "Air" tonight with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon instead of this trash. Made the right choice apparently. JR is going to lose this organization's most die hard and steadfast fans and its nobody's fault but his own at this point.3 points

Abreu hasn't hit a HR yet so would be fitting for him to go 8/12 with 3 homers this series.3 points

I'm REALLY getting tired of this White Sox FO and ownership. And I've been a fan of this team for a long time. Seems to get worse everyday. I can't wait until Bears training camp opens.3 points

I tried it too and somehow ended up here. I followed Rich Hahn’s rebuild instructions to the letter. I don’t know what went wrong. I, like Rick, don’t have any answers either.3 points

I still think the power is in there. It's going to take a little while away from Menechino for some of these guys to break away from what he was pushing. If he hasn't flashed the power by the end of the year, or had say a month or two where he pops 10 hr, then maybe start to explore other options. But I'd definitely hang onto him.3 points

Every team as bad as the White Sox are literally, and i am using it correctly, trying to be bad. The White Sox are the exception. They are about multiple championships and parades. How does Rick Hahn's keycard still work? How does KW have any say? How does Chris Getz still have a job? SHOW SOME ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ONCE3 points

That's more like Pete Alonso. Not sure if he will ever come close to that profile. The number of guys who average 35-40 bombs per season reliably can be counted on less than two hands across all positions.3 points

From the MLB.com story today: White Sox Not much has gone right on the South Side of Chicago this season, with the White Sox off to a 13-25 start. In our recent executive poll, three Sox players received votes as the biggest name that will move prior to the Trade Deadline: Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease and Tim Anderson. But those three players aren’t the only likely trade candidates on Chicago’s roster. Yasmani Grandal is slated to become a free agent at the end of the season, while Lance Lynn has an $18 million option for 2024 with a $1 million buyout. With two years of arbitration, Cease would seem to be the player that would bring back the biggest haul, though the right-hander is off to a woeful start, potentially damaging his value.2 points

If I was JR I would meet with Theo Epstein and see if he would consider taking control of the whole organization top to bottom and retire/fire KW, Hahn, and Grifo to make way for that. Give him full control of everything and offer wide latitude with the purse strings. JR is fine as an Owner if he basically stays out of almost everything baseball related. In any case, KW, Hahn and Grifo have to go. Grifo is not qualified to be a MLB Manager. Hahn has had his chances and failed. KW is probably worn out with the nonsense and would probably welcome being cut loose.2 points

A. He's a player rep. B. He's a free agent who will cost money. One of those is enough for JR., both is a lock.2 points

One thing I was told yesterday and may be of some interest is that one of the reasons Dale Torborg was let go as part of the strength and conditioning area was because he did not get along with Chris Getz. When I asked why I was told because when Getz was a minor league player Torborg was on him a lot because he was "lazy." Was told Getz didn't work hard, thought he was a big deal coming out of Michigan. Torborg (again from what I was told) told others that when Getz was named Director of the Minor Leagues, he knew his days were numbered.2 points

It doesn't matter if the Sox have less players injured on the IL compared to other ML teams. The problem is the Sox don't have quality depth on their roster. When the good teams like the Dodgers, Rays, Braves have injuries, they have a deeper bench than the Sox to survive until their players get back. Furthermore the Sox have one the worst minor league systems. Good teams like the Dodgers and Rays have strong farm systems and they can bring up good players, which obviously the Sox cannot do. I don't care how many Sox players come back in the future. This is not a good team, nor a team that can contend for a World Series championship now or in the future with this assembled roster. Nor is this team a WS contender we were promised and sold on.2 points

He's not a cornerstone but he's not a guy you rush to trade either given his value league wide, even if you're (once again) rebuilding. If he can work on his launch angle he can turn into a good regular. Right now he's just another guy, talented, but just a guy and wouldn't return much prospect wise.2 points

You guys are missing a few big points. 1, He was a third overall draft pick which as we now know was probably a bad use of that high of a draft pick by Hahn. There were other more pressing needs. Having said that, do you have a first baseman in this organization to replace him if in fact you plan on trading him? 2. Go check the Sox 26th ranked farm system. I've looked at all levels and I assure you there isn't a good 1B in Charlotte or Birmingham to step up right now and produce Andrew Vaughn like numbers. 3. Since all of you are down on Vaughn that he isn't worth building around, and I'm not necessarily saying you are wrong. However playing devil's advocate, if Vaughn isn't that good, why in the hell would other ML teams give the Sox a ton of great prospects for Vaughn, since as many of you said...he is an average first baseman. 3. Give the position to Gavin Sheets. Gavin Sheets is probably a worse fielder at first than Vaughn and clearly isn't even close to Vaughn's run production. 4. I know the batting average isn't as high as we expected from Vaughn. I do think it will get better. The home runs aren't there either. Maybe in time he can be a 20-25 HR guy. However he is on target to drive in 120 runs. We have nobody on this team can do that like Vaughn. The fact is you have to keep a few players in a rebuild and he is only 25 yrs old. 5. Speaking of RBI's, Jose Abreu never hit more than 36 HR's in a season and usually in the low 30's or below. However Jose was a RBI machine driving in over 100 RBI's most years...which I believe Vaughn is showing us he can be a RBI man for the Sox. 6. Go get the next first White Sox baseman from free agency. Here are the 2024 UFA's listed at current age and many of these obviously a year old next season. Josh Bell 31 Rhys Hoskins 30 Joey Gallo 29 Brandon Belt 35 Giovanny Urshela 31 C.J. Cron 34 Ji-Man Choi 31 Garrett Cooper 32 Jesus Aguilar 32 Jake Lamb 32 Yulieski Gurriel 38 Darin Ruf 36 Eric Hosmer 33 Matt Adams 34 If the Sox are going to be prudent and spend their free agent dollars in 2024...which Jerry will have a hard time allowing in rebuild 2.0, then maybe that money should be saved for a starting pitcher or two or many of the other weaknesses we have besides first base on this horrible team. The bottom line is go right ahead and trade away Vaughn, when you don't have anyone on the present roster, or in the minors to replace him, as well as a lackluster free agency group...be careful what you wish for? Don't forget Hahn will probably be in charge of trading of Vaughn and he'll probably get fleeced like he always does.2 points

If a team wants to give you prospects for him, deal him. But being controlled for 3 years, I lean towards holding onto him and seeing if he has more value next year or after next year.2 points

No need to apologize. Not even the most die hard front office skeptics seriously thought the team would be a top 3 worst team in baseball come 2023. The level of incompentence and total disfunction of this organization is almost beyond belief at this point. They are so far beyond almost every other organization in baseball in every important metric. There is no way to dig themselves out of this without at least 50 to 75 people getting fired and an ownership change. They are Blockbuster video executives circa the early 2000s hand waving away the internet as no big deal. We are screwed as Sox fans.2 points

Just ran through the minor league prospects again. We might be in worse shape on the farm than we are in the majors. I honestly didn't think that could be possible, but it is! Great work fellas. Last one out remember to turn off the lights.2 points

The other thing is the White Sox who have been injured, are the White Sox who get injured every year. For them to remain healthy for 2 months straight, is an upset. There are no IL surprises. This needs to be built into the equation. Eloy, Robert, Grandal, Moncada,TA are all going to miss time.2 points

Well, she was half right... The organization IS ass, but her son was pitching like ass, too. Unfortunately for us fans, both were/are the case.2 points

Williams at this stage in his life and marriage isn't going to have the energy to accomplish that...he's already pretty much on the outside looking in and reflecting back. KW more than anyone knows from watching Hahn's experience that the money for the "finishing pieces" is not going to be there once he gets back up into the $170-200 million payroll range. He also knows the ONLY time the White Sox truly succeeded in 2005 requiring hit nearly every of a series of about 8-10 moves right on the nose...as well as the three players he dumped to free up all that payroll space to reallocate it. The Sox over the last decade have been fortunate to see success with roughly 25-30% of their moves. He would have to double or triple that ratio, without Eaton/Sale/Q and the NY Yankees trade to jump start another rebuild. Unless he is willing to trade Robert and/or Cease, Tim Anderson or Giolito would be worth the equivalent of that deal Hahn made with NY that went so poorly in terms of the acquired prospects panning out.2 points

Yohandy Morales at 15 would confirm everything we already know about the Sox. They like right-handed power hitter who do not control the strike zone. You know who else likes that profile? Right-handed pitchers.2 points
