Getz still trying to find the guys responsible for lack of depth and player development5 points

Robert's prime is being wasted here anyway. Felt the same way about Sale before the white flag(s) trade. If you can get a haul, do it. Team has way too many holes and not much in the minors as it is.4 points

Moncada will have a good year. It's a contract year. Keep him and trade him at the deadline.4 points

You continue to say this without having any knowledge these guys were even available. It's kinda nauseating.4 points

As someone who follows his twitter account, I can assure you that he had absolutely nothing to do with writing this.3 points

The only place they should be moving Moncda is the hell out of town. He's everything that's wrong wit this team. His lack of production, his bad attitude, his lack of desire to win, his style of play. Getz number one priority this off season has to be to get Moncada off this damn team. By hook or by crook.3 points

What good is holding onto Robert when there are literally no supporting pieces around him? Are we aspiring to be a 70-win team in 2024 or something?3 points

Grifol is the biggest “yes” man I’ve ever seen in a manager. So of course if the GM says he doesn’t like the team he is going to agree. Would feel 1000 percent better with this organization if he was part of the ongoing Getz gutting that is taking place.3 points
-
While I joked with the Shaq meme, Rick Hahn once said we were mired in mediocrity and needed to hit home runs. Getz has to produce results or this is just fluff. And he has to do it on an accelerated timeline, because he was gifted a GM job on the premise that he doesn't need time to turn things around.3 points

I was really surprised out of all the trash trotted out last year in the OF they didn't even bother to look at Reyes. He had a great year (even if it was Charlotte).2 points

They were in a much better position because they aren't a lemonade stand. We are still in a terrible position because we are a lemonade stand.2 points

Which means what exactly to the point about Robert? ? Trading Robert (and again I'm saying it must be done) doesn't impact a club that lost 101 games, has holes all over the roster and isn't going to contend for the next few years AT LEAST (or until new ownership arrives.) It COULD, repeat could, help fill multiple holes with players who could help turn the fortunes around with competent (a key) decision-makers.2 points
-
Yep - I'm saying that the reason to hold onto Robert is if nobody is offering a fair market value. If you're just treating him as "untouchable" because he's Robert, that's just asinine.2 points
-
You aren't getting full value either by keeping him in years where the team is not competitive. What is closer to full value? The best offer today.... or The percentage of games played over the next 4 years where the Sox' expected World Series odds are above 2%?2 points

Trading Luis Robert Jr would be the greatest PR disaster the team has had since the White Flag trade.2 points

Bagent has 8 turnovers in 3 1/2 games. The offense isn’t running smoother, Fields had just come off a 2 game span with 8 TDs. its crazy to me that anyone can watch Guetsy call a game and think he isn’t a huge part of the problem. He has no counterpunch when someone sticks the offense in the mouth2 points

While some part of this defense stuff you could point to, as Getz, and say "Not my fault we drafted a bunch of first baseman, screwed up FA, and needed their bats so bad we had to play them in the outfield and everywhere else", But the other part of this is the same trick we saw with Hahn, where to fix defense it was always getting a better defensive player as if it is purely an innate skill. So if we want to improve on defense at SS, bring in Paul DeJong and ship out Anderson. But Paul DeJong was an unlikely shortstop due to his height, yet came up thru an org that is purely amazing at teaching defense. Had Tim Anderson been a cardinal...I have beliefs that he'd be a much better defender today. So it is unknown why he could not bring up prospects like Sosa and Gonzalez and Madrigal and have us be like "wow they are very good at defense" and instead say "wow they are terrible but maybe they can hit". He has coaches that are set to help with this...but why was it so bad under Getz. Big part of hahns failure is he could not pay for the all around great players, and swapped out one dimensional players for a different dimension. WHile other smaller market teams were better at just helping improve them to be more multi-dimensional.2 points

And then there's this...... https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2023/11/7/23951601/with-invaluable-experience-tony-la-russa-stays-involved-with-white-sox God help us please!!!!!!!!2 points

Eh among the 10,000 other things the Sox are lacking, personality is one of them, so I don’t mind it. It beats Hahn’s lawyer speak and Grifol saying anything at all.2 points

In the 2023 postseason: - Teams to score first went 32-9 - Teams to out-homer opponents went 25-4 (22-6 last PS) - 49.1% of runs were scored via HR (was 41.0% in '23 RS, 46.8% in '22 PS)1 point

Most star players have a social media person put together posts with graphics / videos. What's your point? You don't think he agrees with what was posted or didn't sign off on it? There are a good number of fans who don't hate Tim Anderson that are interested.1 point

Good news, been over a wk and no celebrity deaths, but for those old farts like me, pitcher Dick Drago passed a few days ago, not Cy Young material but pretty decent1 point

Until Ramos forces his way onto the roster, there’s no one else to consistently play at 3B. You go that route if you still had Burger or someone else who could use the at bats.1 point

He's 2 years younger than Judge was and plays a plus CF still. He won't get the AAV that Judge did, but I venture somebody will give him 10 plus years simply because he's the best OF under 30 on the market by a mile that can actually field and hit above average.1 point

I don't remember either of those (before my lifetime), but I'm guessing the 1959-1960 Indians offseason, coming off of an 89-win campaign in 1959, had different objectives than the 2023-2024 White Sox offseason, coming off of a 101-loss season. Point is - your comparisons here are 100% irrelevant, because the teams are not in the same phase of contention. If someone were suggesting to trade Robert, Jose, Cease, etc., going into the 2021 or 2022 season, I would acknowledge your comparison. But right now you're not even comparing apples to oranges.1 point
-
Definitely yes but he’s also injury prone, that and Getz also said there are no untouchables. Don’t get me wrong, I would like Robert to stay heathy and patrol CF for the Sox for the rest of his career but if they could actually improve the club by trading Robert, I would do the trade.1 point

Considering the comparison we saw in sizes between their coaching staff last year and the Cubs staff and front office, "Extra guys slotted somewhere" will have plenty to do.1 point

I’ve never heard of a 1B/OF coach, but the White Sox have cornered the market on 1B/OF even if they really aren’t 1B or OF so it makes sense. Nevermimd, I get it now.1 point

I let two of my daughters marry Cubs fans, so I may as well especially since one of my grandson's is a Cubs fan. Thank God my other grandson is a Sox fan, most likely because he wants to be different than his brother, but I'll take it. I almost started a family fight when I was forced to watch the Cubs NCLS victory over the Dodgers in 2016 at my daughters house and my son-in-law brought out a Cubs banner and was waving it around with my sister another Cubs fan.1 point

um no. Their offensive line has been extremely banged up in houston. Nobody would have said his weapons were strong, they traded their veteran in Cooks to Dallas. He's just extremely good. And contrary to popular belief in Chicago, there is no QB plan that does not involve being able to occasionally throw into the middle of the field or short passes to avoid catastrophic 2nd and 47s due to a sack.1 point
