I had to do a double take. I expected it to be an old article from the first time the site was considered. I thought the land was spoken for, but a new modern stadium at Clark & Roosevelt would be game changer for the future health of the whole White Sox organization. Please Universe, please make it happen.10 points

I would tell him: if it's publicly funded, then it's owned by the city of Chicago, it's going to have a retractable roof, and the city will use it however it wants for the 284 days a year that the Sox aren't at home, and keep all revenues from that usage. If you want anything other than that, pay for it yourself.6 points

Public transportation would be incredible there. Be a lot less need to drive from the burbs.5 points

Can we just ban this prick already? Or group ignore list en masse? Scrolling past the incessant circle-jerk ravings of an ill-informed emotional infant is sheer insufferable tedium.5 points

You guys have no reading comprehension! Can't you understand anything you read!? That's not what he said. Besides, he doesn't need to explain himself! White Sox fans can't read. Learn to read, guys.5 points

Still not spending a dime on them until the Reisndorf’s are done with the Sox. Hope everyone enjoys it though!4 points

Eder's age is going to stop him from getting a ton of prospect attention at this point, but I just think he's going to have a big 2024. He was on the verge of being a big time prospect before the injury, and even was considered a top 10 LHP prospect in the game by multiple outlets as recently as the trade. Obviously the SSS with the Sox was terrible, but it was just that, and honestly to be expected coming off TJS. I think its fine to pretty much move past the 2023 performance. I still think that's a trade the Sox ultimately will do OK on when all things are said and done.4 points

I’m starting to want to hold Cease now. I’m reaching the threshold of hopelessness where I don’t think there’s any path to contention, ever, and so it’s becoming more valuable just to have a fun pitcher to watch once a week. It’s like when you decide you’re just gonna “drive your car into the ground” instead of trade it in while it still has value. I’m resigning myself to having a problematic vehicle for the foreseeable future but at least I won’t have to make payments on it.4 points

One day, I will be old. I will be detaching from those gathered around me, coma-like, but periodically responsive. Nieces and nephews will whisper how I was special in their lives, hoping to convey any message to me before I leave. My eyes will open, and I will lock in on one person with what looks like clarity. I will squeeze a hand, and an ear will come close to my mouth. "What is it, Uncle?!?" "..... Cowser ..... Nor....." "Norby can't be a second piece, Uncle Eddy. We've told you that a hundred times!!"4 points

I always pass that location on my way into the city and seems very feasible that they could just construct another stop in the nothingness that lives there if they so chose to do so. Would LOVE this location.3 points

Whatever gets the team away from Generic_Baseball_Stadium_01 I'm all for. Of course, I'm not a Chicagoan, who potentially is footing the bill...3 points

I see what you did there. You made a statement, but put it in the mouths of "many", so that you can both argue any inane point to make the other person wrong, and then claim you didn't say that. We're all adults, here, so you don't really need to explain how other people think to us. However, my belief is that if Houston were to offer their staff ace to a potential ALCS rival, that cost would hurt, to the point that "many" would not actually be "happy". They would scream about a Jackson Holliday + 3/4 ask, and Framber Valdez would immediately become a bum, an "older" 2-year rental who choked in the 2021 & 2023 playoffs, and "many" would wonder if he was just a "good" pitcher in the season who turns into a pumpkin come playoff time. So, no, I don't "get" that, but it seems like you're saying you don't either.3 points

He didn't really get "released". It was a $14M option. I feel for TA. I'd personally welcome him back to try to rebuild some value. I think he could be useful utility player if he was open to it playing all over the diamond and getting that edge back. But I don't pretend to know what TA did (or didn't do) in that clubhouse the last few years.3 points

Congratulations to this young man who is a good role model for young people who may think they have limitations to their career paths for any reason.Having said that and with all due respect for him, I thought it was time to move on, even prior to any reported contractual issues. IMO, it would also be a good idea to start phasing Stone out. As a long time Sox fan it seems like our play-by-play and color commentators should have some sort of chemistry. When you start off with Stone as a given, the selection becomes limited and perhaps that decision has to essentially be ceded to Stone. I have always thought Stone would be happier as a Cubs announcer. He has been trending toward too much sarcasm and I for one, have often disagreed with his take on several players, coaches, etc. I know that is part of his job, but again, maybe a fresh perspective on everything is now in order.3 points

Most everyone who says they should hold on to Cease acknowledges there is risk. Some posters are outright against it. You need to improve your reading comprehension.3 points

Well first of all, Mountcastle will not be on the team. Secondly, you seem to have this idea that just because we have depth that we should just trade more than we should. You are essentially saying to trade 2 top 50 prospects for Cease when it’s likely not even one top 50 prospect is on the table. Now, with all of that being said, I may consider this depending on what else is available and what else it would take to get that player. It’s an interesting thought though. I think of a lot of scenarios and one thing to consider here would be, would you rather have Kjerstad or Westburg or Beavers/Povich/unnamed prospect. Depending on who that prospect is, you may prefer that package vs one of them. I have to say, I don’t hate it as much as I think I would have but thinking about it more makes me think it may not be a bad way to go. I know what most others on our board would say but it’s a discussion worth having imo.2 points

There are a decent amount of parking garages in the area for the Financial district too. Lots of people have their monthly parking down there because it is cheaper than the actual Loop.2 points

I am sure it would happen. The CBOE is the terminus. There is nothing stopping another stop for a ballpark. The electric line is blocks away too.2 points

Very exciting but it is likely just part of the negotiation process to extend his sweetheart lease another decade.2 points

This is a blank canvas and there are so many awesome options. A stadium that overlooks the skyline! They could really build something special. However, they need to have a plan for traffic because Roosevelt can be a real clusterf*ck between State and all the way past Canal.2 points

Also, I don’t buy for a second that Marcus Stroman is stopping the Yankees from adding Dylan Cease. While the national media does typically overrate their prospects, there is still a lot to like there and they offer us much more ceiling than the Orioles. TBH, every time I dive deep into their top 10 or so guys, the more I like them more than the second tier stuff the O’s have to offer.2 points

BA released their pre-season list today. Only two White Sox made the list in Montgomery (#15) & Schultz (#40). Nastrini & Ramos were included on the “Next 15” list, which is nice to see although I had hoped Ramos made the cut. Quero has slipped from roughly 70th on their 2023 mid-season list to somewhere beyond the top 115. He did receive some votes but not enough to make the cut. Eder and Jacob Gonzalez also received top 100 votes. Looks like Haber may have taken a position over at BA.2 points

I guess I didn’t word my previous post very well. I’m not saying Jimmy is making anything up. But just because the Sox view him as a reliever doesn’t mean they are correct in their assessment. Meanwhile, the Jays front office thinks he can be a starter.2 points

Low A to AA will do that as a 20 year old catcher. If he was on their midseason, hard to see why he would drop. His defense improved a lot too I believe.2 points

MLB.com did a big survey last week, and it was glaring with regards to the lack of elite talent in the system. There were a lot of categories, and I think only Schultz’s slider and Leasure’s fastball got a vote for “best of” pitch.2 points

The White Sox can't even find a play by play broadcaster, finding both?2 points

That's an understatement. Come August it was true for 75% of the players.2 points

If the Orioles can't trade Westburg and 3 prospects who are in their 8-15 range then they just aren't serious about it. That's not unreasonable at all.2 points

Anderson seems to perform at his best only when he has absolute confidence in himself and his abilities, while also simultaneously receiving praise/validation both from everyone in his bubble (friends, family, teammates, other teams' players) and also outside the bubble (fans, media). There's a certain duality of narcissism and self-doubt, where it's either one extreme or the other. He's either: - performing to the utmost of ability, or - things are all crashing down; his confidence wavers and he no longer thinks he's the best, and he performs terribly I don't even intend for any of the above to be critical or derisive; I do think he'd greatly benefit from a top-notch sports psychologist, and beyond that also a personal one.2 points
