Orioles circled back on Cease the other day apparently. No idea if it’ll be them but I’ve talked to people who still think he moves.9 points

We have more candidates for player-manager than actual qualified big league players.6 points

Levine is on 670 right now. It sounds like VERY informed speculation after being at White Sox camp today. He said that talks with Baltimore are expected.5 points

Nowhere in that article does it say “talks are heating up” with that being said he got a click outta me that I can’t take back now5 points

Of course Elias didn't call. Getz merely texted a pic of Cease with a wink emoji.5 points

Every time I see Grifol talk, he reminds me of the asinine coach that gets fired before the protagonist coach replaces him in a sports movie4 points

That's been my point. How is Korey Lee going to get much from Stassi and Maldonado if he's hundreds of miles away in Charlotte. Hows the new catching coach going to help him?4 points

So like, who even are the young guys expected to be on the roster that all these clubhouse leaders are supposed to have a positive influence on?4 points

0% chance Orioles circle back after getting Burnes. They already dealt the prospects they wanted to deal.4 points

My friend has a friend in the CPD. Here is the story. Makes this strange occurrence make more sense now. “So she indeed snuck a 25 auto so just little bigger than a 22 handgun inside her fat. She went to adjust the gun at her seat when it accidentally discharged and grazed her and struck her friend in leg. Best part. All of them are CPS teachers. Teacher appreciation night at the cell. Initial cop commander says to stop game. He's overridden by mayor and top cop to not say anything and the coverup begins with the outside bullet theory. Mayor has silenced all cops. They have them on video. Another teacher picks up the gun and runs out of stadium. This fat teacher is best friends with the mayor and is actually lives in suburbs which is illegal for CPS teachers to do.”3 points

It's amusing that it's another Royal but as long as Gavin Sheets is gone I'm good. Like I said a month ago the bar is low for me but the fact that there are so many new faces makes this season already more exciting for me than last season.3 points

It feels more like buying time to not rush kids who aren't ready. Then once the kids are ready, the guys in front are easy cuts if they are getting played too much.3 points

I don't think the position thing hurt his development. From the jump he's just been a big ass dude that...doesn't hit like it. Big slow boy with weak power is just not a good combo. He had so many chances for us because he's left handed, hard worker, and we are a pathetic franchise.3 points

Wanting a new manager after the 2020 playoffs has become the ultimate monkeys paw.2 points

If Getz wanted Cowser, he kind of has a poor man's version in Fletcher now (I realize there is a big gap in talent). As much as we would prefer Kjerstad, Getz hates that profile right or wrong (and he's wrong), so I wonder if he just says Westburg and Bradfield (Robert insurance for later) as the key pieces with Beavers 3rd and a pitcher 4th. It's still an aggressive package but put together differently. BTV says Westburg, Bradfield, Beavers and Povich = 51.70 Cease= 42.40. The 10% SP premium from Burnes precedent puts 42.40 to about 47 which is close to 51.70 and the other 4.7 million would be the desperation premium.2 points

You have a 100 loss team , projected to be awful. You have very few young guys ready. Yet you sign a bunch off crappy players for clubhouse and leadership reasons. What does that say about your manager?2 points

Orioles have known about these injuries for a while. I don’t think it improves the Cease to Baltimore chances very much. Burnes was more likely the insurance policy.2 points

I want to thank Getzy for that quote. I had been on the fence about this signing and now realize it truly is a dumb idea.2 points

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard a GM say. He might have well of just said he's bringing TWTW. But is he bringing more than his projected negative WAR should he get any playing time?2 points

I worked for Majestic from 1998-2003 the quality of the jerseys was always on-point. It was located originally in the Slate Belt area which had a history of blouse mills, so many residents worked in those mills as sewers and eventually transitioned to the Majestic facility to work on MLB apparel, starting with the original BP jerseys.2 points

speed & money grab, alter fabrics and cuts to increase profit, then the design has to be shoehorned into the "new" template which makes it look horrible and laughably small. Like I am pretty sure applying the MLB batter and the Name/Number to the back took two separate "handlings" but now with the batter below the piping it looks like it can all be done at once, thus increasing production speed. Looks QC as far as color matching has gone out the window as well.2 points

Yeah, not better. But the team was so bad last year, and there were quite a few guys who gave up and had bad attitudes. This year's team will look better and will probably win a few more games. I was so disillusioned at the end of last season that I'm actually looking forward to seeing this hodgepodge of veterans and newbies and scrubs.2 points

My theory (hope) is that Getz is trying to raise the floor with cheaper vets, but will be willing to cut these guys if a young player proves ready. My fear is that it won’t matter, because we now a roster full of them and Grifol has already stated he won’t sacrifice a single win for development.2 points

What he did wrong was have an OBP slightly over .300. That's showing up your teammates.2 points

His bat has gotten worse over the years but I’m not sure how playing him out of position is to blame. More than likely, pitchers just figured out the massive hole in his swing at the dish. He’s just more AAA fodder that was drafted too high by the Sox.2 points

I don't know . Its not the innings so much as the regiment he'll have to follow for different roles . The up and down of getting warmed up, the temptation to use him perhaps 2 or 3 times a week even if just for an inning. Him not attempting to go more than an inning in every appearance doesn't seem right. I'd rather have him making starts every 5th day throwing pitches between starts as necessary for a guy with his previous arm problems . Just seems like less pressure to get minor leaguers out where you can experiment in games with pitches you're working on developing rather than using your 2 really good pitches to get MLB hitters out.1 point
