Hopefully he keeps it up. His broken ankle right before the draft and never having played in the minors for the Red Sox could be the true blessing in disguise. If he had played for the Red Sox and gotten off to a hot start like he has for the White Sox, perhaps Boston doesn’t deal him.6 points

Getz and his decision not to find someone who can close out games was always going to be frustrating to witness the results4 points

Bro why did you pull a 12 year old tweet from when Twitter was more innocent and people tweeted things like this. Once upon a time I posted on here that there was no way the Tatis trade would be that bad because how often do lotto tickets like that hit? Also James Shields would mentor Gio. Absolute crackpot s%*#, but it doesn't really have much bearing on my current view of the Sox; back then I was an eternal optimist, now I'm a lot more bitter outside of Pope Leo memes.3 points

Honestly, until I hear otherwise, I am going to assume there were politicians behind this.3 points

A few months ago, I probably would have taken this bait. I just don't care enough to even muster up a fake argument at this point. You win.3 points

I like my home town team . So does everyone here. I want them to be good but at least I'm not blind to whats really happening here instead of blaming a puppet . I can still enjoy my team take smalls amounts of joy at individual moments in games. It does not make me miserable enough to try and hunt down your social media posts. Was that some kind of gotcha moment for you ?3 points

What an odd start time. Anyway, has anyone started three game threads in a row since the start of 2024? This feels like a record.2 points

This team being .500 over their last 12 games or whatever feels like they're at the top of the division compared to what we've seen for the last year.2 points

A road win in extras is huge for them. But the talent level still isn't great . But it is fun when the youngin's come through.2 points

I still like how they signed a light hitting, good gloved 3B to apparently play anywhere but 3B.2 points

Regular reminder that Getz reluctance to sign ANY closer is what has made these losing seasons historic.....offensive woes aside.2 points

bad wording, not scrap heap but you don't find many positive WAR SP in the 3rd round, but for some reason the Sox seam to be decent at finding this sort of SP.2 points

Schultz done after 5IP, 1ER, 5H, 1BB, 7K (season high). 76 pitches, left with a 2-1 lead. One of the "hits" was a ball right at Burke in CF that he lost in the sun and couldn't recover. Went for an Arroyo triple.2 points

I’m completely out in this front office if Grant Taylor doesn’t come to spring training in 2026 as a starting pitcher. I understand the innings restrictions and using him in big league bullpen to end 2025. If they’re already convinced that he’s best served as a high leverage reliever though, they’re morons.2 points

Show me that elko bump you were talking about. Looked it up: 2 Sundays ago they had 19k+. Last Sunday with elko they had 16.8k.2 points

Hooray for Buck Weaver, of all of them he was wronged the most. Never took a dime and played his guts out in the 1919 World Series but I don’t think he is worthy of Hall of Fame induction.2 points

Zavala so far in May: 8-22 with 4 XBH and more walks (3) than Ks (2). Small 7 game May sample, but I feel like he got going in mid April or so.2 points

Reynolds was fired but he sued ESPN for wrongful termination because the charges were bogus. ESPN settled out of court and gave him a substantial amount of money. By all reports he's a good guy. Phillips on the other hand, not so much.2 points

SIGH. Hagen's velocity and control are having problems, and Grant Taylor is going to the pen. Why can't we have nice things?2 points

1. Say a business was trying to find 5 new employees to add to their company. They hired people, and they didn't work out. The training/onboarding was insufficient, they didn't know the right questions to ask in the interviews, the business simply didn't know how to identify talent. So they fire those people. They hire another 5 people. Same thing happens. At what point do you start to wonder if it's not about the people they are hiring, but the business might simply not really know what they're doing? 2. I don't really follow the team. I'd have to look up what their record is right now, I honestly would be guessing if you asked me who they last played, and have no idea who is on the schedule today for the Sox. I follow what is happening from a larger scale with the White Sox, because I've been a fan my entire life, but I used to watch probably 85% of games in a season, and attend between 15-20 games a year. I haven't been to a game in 4 years. So I've absolutely replaced White Sox baseball with other hobbies. However, said this before and I'll say it again. Jerry Reinsdorf isn't the White Sox, and he isn't why I root for the team. I'll still be a fan of the White Sox long after he's dead, and ideally my favorite baseball team finally gets an owner that has a marginal interest in fielding a competitive team. Until that time, the White Sox will receive very little attention from me, and judging by attendance and viewership the last 2+ years, I'm far from alone.2 points

Yeah, "BWaaaahahaha, you posted on Twitter things about the White Sox" doesn't seem to be quite the sick burn as intended. You avoided posting nudes, or creeping on female journalists, so wins all around. LOL. That seemed kind of doxxy, but the real villains here are those who won't join in and mope over Chris Getz being employed.2 points

For real though, the players cited don't even sniff the hype of the previous rebuild, so saying that there's an old saying, it's gonna elicit backlash. The pitchers need to out perform Gio-Cease-Lynn-Rodon-ReyLo-Hendriks-Kopech(bullpen)-Crochet(bullpen) Braden needs to outperform Robert when he was at his peak. I guess Sammy Zavala can still try. Vargas has to prove he can be a league average hitter before he can beat out 2019 or 2021 Moncada. Elko has to top Abreu. Baldwin has to show he's at least Leury level. Either catcher has to top 2020-2021 Grandal. I think Quero or Teel (who I very, very much wanted in the draft) can do this, but still, wait and see. TA was a hitting champ and now we're waiting on ... Bonemer? Vaughn was actually competent for a few seasons before backsliding hard. Meidroth has a low bar to clear, since second was a super massive black hole. Rookie Eloy was an absolute masher. Burger's rise was the feel good story. I forgot Thorpe and Iriarte in my list of "recent guys who had hype and we've now forgotten about" because they're so uninspiring and just now deal with injuries. I'd love for it to happen. The current GM was part of the reason the prior rebuild failed, so now suddenly he's gonna steer this one to nirvana? The old saying is fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.2 points

My lasting and defining memory of Harold Reynolds' "analysis" is when he predicted that Gordon Beckham would be a Hall of Famer on draft night.2 points

100%. They send certain franchises into purgatory (Orlando great example who had brutal luck for half a decade) while rewarding some teams who are already talent rich. Players unions need to stop thinking this does ANYTHING to improve jobs for middling vets. It’s such a joke.2 points

I agree up to a point. I don’t think he’s gonna hit .405. There will be some regression on batted balls. The kid looks really good so far. I think we should enjoy that. Add in the fact that he seems like a terrific person, it’s easy for me to wish him success.2 points

I know the Sox don't exactly have a ton of celebrity fans, but this is kind of a weak list IMO. Justin Fields and a few singers make the list because they were invited to throw out the first pitch but who weren't life-long Sox fans, but Michael Clarke Duncan, Bernie Mac, Richard Roeper, George Wendt, Laurie Metcalfe, Jean Shepherd, Richard J. and M. Daley don't make the list?2 points

"several players busted before, and so every future player will also be a bust" would be kind of a silly way to abstract on the historical evidence though. i don't understand the negativity in this thread. what's the point in being pessimistic about baseball, I don't get it. if it's not enjoyable, you don't have to follow the team. there are plenty of other hobbies. there are definitely some good players to look forward to though. and if they don't turn out to be good, so what, life goes on.2 points
