I think the OP demanding an apology from people while we still sit 21 games under .500 is a bit much. I’m excited about the young blood we have, this recent little surge has been fun, but it’s a long season left to go. Nobody should be dunking right now9 points

The Sith always pop up if anything not negative is stated. Then will insist that everyone is saying the Sox are winning the world series and have a team of all-stars.5 points

Braden 3-5 with a double. It's possible that slumping for a week in his first taste of pro ball didn't in fact make him a bust.4 points

I’m not hating on anyone, once again you’re beating your chest over a team that’s going to win 60 or less games. Get a life dude, don’t drag me into your troll routine.3 points

If you’re excited about the team then post about what’s exciting. This is “Ha see you’re wrong this team is better than last year, eat s%*#” while they are going to win 55-60 games and are only saved by the Rockies from being the worst team, again. This post was never made to be excited about the team, it was made to stir s%*#.3 points

Also, for the record, people should be moderately excited that Tauchman and Slater have mostly worked out. Yes, they have dealt with injuries which is not overly surprising given their age, but for dirt cheap veterans they have been super productive when available. Right now, they are combined on a 2.75 win pace through 40% of the season and having missed 50% of playing time. They are effectively producing at a 5.5 clip in a theoretical 600 PA season. For less than $4M, that’s incredible value. I’m not Chris Getz truther, but those are big wins for dumpster diving and something Hahn never found success in during his entire tenure. Hell, Thais should be viewed as win as well a cheap veteran who was able to serve as a productive placeholder until the actual prospects were ready. It’s clear to me that the pro scouting changes and investments in analytics are paying off to some extent.3 points

It is trending in the right direction, they’re still a bad baseball team. We don’t need a new gotcha thread every time they win a couple games. Anything good that’s not controllable will be stripped off this team in the next month or so, they are still a ways off from being a competitive team.3 points
-
Such a dumb thread, you realize this team is the second worst team in baseball and pacing out for like 55 wins right? “At least they’re marginally better than the worst team in baseball history” is as low of a bar you can get. These turds always come out after they win a couple games before they inevitably look totally inept again.3 points

Antonnaci is one of the more underrated players in this Sox system imo. Just Very hitterish. Don’t think he’ll be a star but think he can be a serviceable big leaguer someday here.2 points

One happened 20 years ago. The other happened last year. Can’t imagine why some aren’t willing to “eat crow” yet2 points

Who is chest pumping. I believe the sentiment is, they are showing improvement. This goes back to all of the discussions. As soon as someone utters anything not negative, people start saying why do people think this team is good or why is anyone proud of this record. Everyone realizes this team is bad. However, very few teams go from bad to playoffs in one season. It can happen but not often. Stating that they are showing progress does not mean someone thinks they are going to the playoffs or even good. As I've stated many times, it is not dichotomous. They don't have to be world series champions or worst team of all time only. They can show improvement on the continuum.2 points

He was helped out by the aluminum bats in college. He's got a bad case of warning track power once he turned pro. That's one of those things you can definitely work on as a pro by bulking up, which if the work ethics posts are any indication, he hasn't been working on.2 points

I'm so confused by the chest pumping. The Sox have twice as many losses as wins and the worst record in the AL.2 points

I agree. However instead of dwelling on the past, I'm willing to give him a chance. And a chance doesn't expire 2 years into a rebuild.2 points

I see this homestand as a huge positive. The Tigers and Royals have been eating our lunch for a couple years, and we played them even. We really could have gone 6-1, but it's a young team. I think Altavilla's the closer until somebody tells me different.2 points

They always try. I like that. If it doesn't bum you out too much, thnk about the mental condition almost everyone was in a year ago today.2 points

Don't care about the latest Vaughn news. It is time for the team to move on from him. Same for Robert. Forget the false hope.2 points

I mean, that’s fair. I understand what you’re saying. But it’s all cyclical with this message board (and probably every sports message board that ever existed). This “see you’re wrong!” post is a result of people questioning posts during the offseason where others were trying to be optimistic. And now that he made this post, I’m sure there will be somebody who throws it back in his face when things go south. And round and round we go.2 points

I didn’t say anything about his post wasn’t true. But the tone of his first two posts in this thread gives the impression that he got annoyed and bothered, and I’m not sure why. Even if the original post was overly optimistic, who cares? Maybe it’s because I’m more of an optimist than a pessimist, but I can’t imagine seeing somebody get excited about my favorite team and getting bothered by it, even if I didn’t agree with it.2 points

Starting June 3rd with the 8-1 Win over the Tigers here is what the Sox Bullpen has done. 6/3 - 3.2 IP, 1 R ,1 ER 6/4 - 8 IP 1 R ,1 ER in 5-4 Loss to Tigers. Shuster was technically the starter so his runs were not in relief. Eisert got the loss by giving up the only hit & run in 8 BP innings. 6/5 - 3 IP 0 Runs. 3-2 W vs Tigers 10 innings. 6/6 - 3 IP 0 Runs in 7-2 W over Royals 6/7 - 3 IP 0 Runs in 4-1 W vs. Royals. Last 11 innings in 4 games 0 Runs Last 17 IP 1 Run in 4 games Last 20.2 IP 2 R, 2 ER in 5 games. 4-1 record in last 5 game and the only loss went to the BP in a game they gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 8 innings. It’s becoming pretty clear that unless AV steps it up, he is going to be the odd man out. The next call up from Charlotte should be Brooks Baldwin, he is on fire slashing at .365/.420/ .762 with an OPS of 1.182, another homer last night. I would want him playing just playing centerfield and when he’s comfortable out there he can come up and take Robert’s place.2 points

Who would be happy being told by Getz not to expecting winning for basically three more years? Especially when outspending any AL Central ownership group going into the 2027-28 labor impasse would allow them to instantly stockpile talent over the other four cash-strapped teams? Instead Sox fans get 1994-95, Covid (when there's finally an exciting team after eight years) and now not even spending more than $5 million on a player...with promises basically NOT to spend in FA until 2028 at the earliest.2 points

They do control Tauchman for next year. I could see them keeping him around possibly.2 points

The vandal was actually using the swastika in its ancient meaning, which was a Hindu symbol for well-being and good fortune. They didn't mean it as a Nazi symbol. The vandal was also autistic, so they didn't know better. Give me a break people.2 points

But that symbol belongs predominantly on Hindu temples, then. That's his religion? Why would it be associated with the two first black players in the NL and AL? And how do you explain the N word part of it?1 point

He is guaranteed to get the team if he wants it. He holds an option in 2034. Even if Jerry lives to be 115 and doesn't want to sell, Ishbia will be able to buy it.1 point
