  1. This is an absurd post. Getz signed Slater right out of the gate, dude delivered as hoped, and now has returned a prospect ranked 18th in the Yankees system by BA. We have no fucking clue if Hayes would even have considered signing with us coming off a historically bad season and what that would have cost. And honestly, Tauchman is the guy you should be comparing him to because Hayes wasn’t coming here for a platoon role. Meanwhile, Tauchman has performed nearly identical to Hayes at less than half the cost and with an extra year of control. The fact of the matter is you called both Slater and Tauchman garbage additions and wastes of money the moment we signed them when they have been arguably better signings at a lower cost in total than the guy you really wanted (who to be fair, would have also turned out to be a good signing). Just admit you were wrong on Tauchman & Slater so can end this debate once and for all.

  3. Crazy how much more enjoyable it is to have both Quero and Teel in the lineup....

  4. Back during the pandemic, my pregnant wife ordered Chili's on Cinco De Mayo (I know). I went to pick it up at the New Lenox location and they told me they were running behind and that it would be 20 minutes. I waited. The food never came. Then they quoted me a different time before they said they never in fact had our order. It was this big ordeal. I criticized them on twitter. Ever since then, there's a group of fine folks on twitter who have harassed me about Chilis and some had yelled it in person at games etc. I doubt this is accurate and I'm pretty sure it's some sort of homage to me on that fine day.

  5. The consensus about this trade generally seems to be positive yet you feel the need to throw barbs over longstanding past grudges. Like, we get it dude, you just want attention, but this s%*# just isn't necessary.

  6. No, he will continue to hit like prime Barry Bonds with a .342 BABIP when he has like 0 percentile sprint speed. Seriously though, if he ends up being good enough for MIlwaukee that it costs the Cubs the division, the trade will be worth it in my eyes.

  8. I understand the concept of picking up his option, but if they don't trade him and he's not spectacular the rest of the season, JR isn't picking it up. He doesn't like paying good players. He certainly isn't going to give $20 million to a question mark if he can easily avoid it.

  10. You get a 22 year old SP prospect for a dumpster dive signing, A+ in my book. I would have figured he was more likely to be DFA'd than used to get a pitching prospect if I was betting before the season started.

  18. Or he isn't lazy, and the Brewers just made it make more sense. Sometimes it isn't the message, but the messenger. That doesn't even mean it is a White Sox problem, but sometimes just hearing the same thing a different way just works.

  28. Hayes OPS+ 59 this year and 61 last and owed 9 million a year for 4 yrs with back issues. Rogers a flip candidate while Stafura is a 50FV shortstop. I think huge win for Pittsburgh. Small market/dollar spender gets out from contract. Like someone giving us a good prospect for Benintendi.

  30. The Yankees are 4 games out of first and hold the top wildcard spot, they're in the playoff picture every year. Those teams don't give two shits about trading their 18th ranked prospect to bolster their roster for a playoff run. Meanwhile, the White Sox trade a top 10 organizational prospect for a 26 year old no ceiling OFer coming off a 101 loss season. In what world should any Sox fan be shading the Yankees for attempting to upgrade their playoff caliber roster?

  31. If Vaughnie can keep the cubs out of the playoffs, he’s the most useful player the Sox have had in years. Keep up the good work, AV!

  33. There is almost zero upside in starting Houser. He's 32 and having a career year, in 11 starts. Small sample size. He's also facing a playoff team in the Phillies. If he gets shelled today, which would be the first time that has happened for him in 2025, that would give me pause as a GM looking to bolster my team for the stretch run. The entire premise is built on him being able to pitch in the post season for someone. Could he add to his value by shutting the Phils down? Sure, but I think he do more damage to his value than help it today. Sit him.

  34. I mean I think it would be beneficial to sit Houser and Luis until they are traded at this point right?

  35. If I was a Yankees fan I wouldn't think twice about this trade. As a White Sox fan, it's possible that I only think about it perhaps one more time (when the pitcher we acquired is released from the organization). Of course, hopefully we see something more out of it, but this has all the makings of a nothingburger for both sides. Still makes sense for both sides.

  36. On the flip side, when your in the race you can afford to send your 18th best prospect to a garbage team to get a platoon guy that could help you win a World Series.

  37. And just thinking outloud without seeing the kid, this reads like a Cannon/Burke/Davis type of guy with mid to back rotation stuff and go out there every 5 days and give you six OK innings on a typical basis.
    2 points
  38. Maybe better return than it could have been. Not sure where this guy would slot in the Sox system, but maybe not as high as 18th as he is in the Yankees'.

  41. The thing i keep reading and hearing is “oh he is on a competitive team now so he is playing harder” and that s%*# doesn’t hold up for me because his first couple years the Sox were competitive and he still scuffled and was up and down a lot. I agree this is likely one of his hot streaks and he will level out

  42. He’s telling other GMs — “Hey, look at what Vaughn is doing for the Brewers! Robert will do the same. Players just improve when they leave our team!” 🤣
