the night of his homer in the corn game is probably the most optimistic i've ever been about the sox's long-term chances. i was convinced he was about to lead us to multiple championships. instead, it was all downhill.6 points

I know Timmy fell apart, but he was really good for a number of years. Way more so than most of the rebuild fodder.4 points

Tim Anderson averaged 4.01 WAR per/162 in his first 6 years with the White Sox. If Colson has that pace, it would be a huge win.4 points

His ability to ruin things he touches is almost impressive.4 points

Good for AV. Happy for him. Sox have been much more interesting since he's been gone.3 points

Don’t move to Florida, it’s hot from early May to early October, we never turn the AC off during that period and sometimes it’s longer but I’m out there playing golf and bike riding, heat index today was only 101.3 points

He's been starting down in Charlotte and has been doing pretty well, so maybe they give him a longer leash given the rate they've been churning through arms the last week.3 points

Maybe try not to have the worst national broadcast going and perhaps someone might care.3 points

TA was in the cusp of superstardom following the WBC until that last injury. Dude was mad marketable and the Sox win percentage when played vs. didn't was crazy.3 points

All these bad balls and strike calls are getting old. I’m ready for the electronic strike zone.2 points

Watching the Tigers broadcast. I love Benetti but he still can't tell the difference between a routine flyball and a 500 ft bomb. He thought the Greene flyout was going into the parking lot.2 points

I was on the phone with my dad, who was watching in Arizona and his feed was slightly ahead. I told him to try and not spoil it. I remember hearing him beginning to sound excited while TA was taking pitches on my screen and I went "I'm guessing he hit a walk off? He replied "HOW DO YOU KNOW???" One second later it was on my TV and god do I miss the vibes of that game.2 points

He was starting in AAA, but we'll see how long he goes.2 points

The other huge mistake that really contributes to the feeling of the UD being higher is you have to go UP to even get to the 100 level. Anything new seems to be an entrance at the TOP of the lower bowl, and going DOWN to box seats. Changing escalators multiple times to enter the BOTTOM of the upper deck to then hike UP 15 to 20 MORE rows in a sellout situation is just piss poor planning. Many UDs have some amount of seats down below the UD seating entrance so again it doesn't feel like all UP.2 points

Probably asked him to go to AAA and he just refused. Oh well. Getz has done a decent job managing the 40 man this year. Losing Julks isn't anything to lose sleep over.2 points

Well hopefully we aren't repeating the cycle of the dude being at 75% and running out there obviously injured like we have before.2 points

Yes, but there was more heat on them after that walkoff then even when they went into the playoffs against Houston. Outside of 2005, they have never been higher on the mountain than they were after that walkoff, that's my point.2 points

In recent years is there a single business in Illinois that built its own infrastructure? Expressway ramps, local streets, etc are the domain of the state. If the Bears pay for a expressway on off ramp, would they be allowed to charge tolls? I don't like govt paying for stadiums but the roads to get there, that's the govt job.2 points

The White Sox, amidst the early stages of a rebuild, don’t have a top 100 player? You don’t say. This should not be a surprise to anyone, nor is it particularly newsworthy. Certainly not deserving of its own thread, except for those amongst us addicted to starting pointless threads…2 points

The original design of the present stadium didn't have the second level of suites. JR had the design changed because he wanted the second level of suites, which in turn has ruined the stadium.2 points

I couldn’t justify Bonemer over Carlson in our FutureSox discussions. Bonemer just isn’t the same level of prospect imo. Bonemer has done it at Low A but he’s more similar to Fauske.2 points

Is he trying to hit a home run every swing, or does he just do it? Our man has doubled his HR rate compared to the bandbox in Charlotte. His batting average is about 30 points higher. Worried about nothing. Glass half full is the objectively correct perspective. He's killing it and people are still freaking out lol. My favorite post of all time on this board is that guy who was mad he only hit a triple instead of an inside the park home run.2 points

I think there’s a difference between being dumb and lacking baseball instincts (particularly on defense and running the bases). In high school, the valedictorian was on my team. Smartest guy I knew, and best hitter on the team. But I’ve never seen a worse base runner in my life. I think there are certain instinctual things you can’t teach in baseball. You either have them or you don’t. Sure, you can teach base running and defensive situations, but some people will never have the ability to just react without thinking about it as it’s happening.2 points

Like I said before he is gonna take Chicago by storm. He's the Sox version of Pete Crow-Armstrong, Bobby Witt Jr., Connor Bedard. Ten home runs at this stage is remarkable. His last two homers have been rockets.1 point

Mead just doesn't have enough power for a corner spot, definitely isn't a SS...and we already have about 7-8 potential 2B men. Sox love collecting former Top 100 prospects 2-3 years after their expiratoon dates.1 point

Good summary. Despite my posts in this thread criticizing the current park and supporting the idea of a new Sox stadium at the 78, I actually don't hate the current park, have had many fond memories there, and agree that there are positives about the place. The lower deck is very good and there really isn't a bad seat in the lower level, but IMO there are better lower decks in MLB. The upper deck is the park's albatross made worse by the team's policy of banning 500 level ticket holders from the lower concourse. I've enjoyed going to Grandstand and Connie's. It's great that Cork & Kerry is nearby and that the ChiSox Bar & Grill is attached to the ballpark, but even so, the number of places surrounding the ballpark for fans to go to before and after a game is severely lacking. And unfortunately, that does matter in today's economics for getting enough people to come to games. And by the way, Connie's is actually closer to the 78 than to Rate Field Quite frankly, there just isn't much of anything remarkable at Rate Field. "There's nothing wrong with the stadium" is a pretty crappy motto for a ballpark to be perfectly honest. If all that is needed is for teams to just field a winning team and the ballpark doesn't matter, then why have so many other teams gone to such great lengths to make sure their ballparks have a ton of character and are surrounded by other points of interest? I used to be like many other Sox fans in thinking that our ballpark gets a bad rap because the world is against Sox fans, the Cubs-loving media is brainwashing everyone, critics probably haven't even been to the stadium, everyone else is wrong and we die-hard Sox fans are right, etc., etc. Over time, I've come to realize that just isn't reality. But we'll see, it's not my $1B that would need to be spent for a new ballpark. If the new owners decide that it isn't practical or feasible to build a privately-financed new ballpark at the 78, then I'll continue to support this team and hope for a better product on the field. I just hope they put a lot of money into improving the ballpark and surrounding area if the team is going to stay there for another 3 or 4 decades.1 point

Also, people need to stop watching Fox "News". Or just continue to s%*# yourself anytime you drive through a neighborhood where minorities live. The most dangerous parts of the country are pretty much all found in RURAL America. PER CAPITA is an important part of statistics. Crime is also down EVERYWHERE in this country, even if the media wants you to believe otherwise. The data is readily accessible to anyone who gives a damn. Try reading sometime.1 point

Wow, reading some of the posts here, you'd think Chicago has become a crime-ridden, nightmarish hellhole where people are afraid to venture outdoors even downtown. I guess someone forgot to tell the 55 million tourist who visited Chicago last year. All those people pictured crowding the lakefront path in this article don't exactly look like they're running for their lives to me. https://chicago.suntimes.com/money/2025/05/16/chicago-visitors-tourists-2024-prepandemic And it looks like no one is flying into Chicago anymore, either, since this city is going down the toilet: https://wgntv.com/news/chicago-news/ohare-close-to-dethroning-atlanta-as-americas-busiest-airport/ All snark aside, I know Chicago certainly has its problems, but let's not get carried away here with making it out like it's the Beirut of the Midwest.1 point
