https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=09/16/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Think if you are reading this, you qualify as a White Sox Marine. The few, the proud, the masochistic! I see a shirt lol. Tomorrow begin a trip to DC and will meet my son in Boston to cross a Fenway Sox vs Sox game off the bucket list. Yeah when I got the tickets this spring wasn't expecting this........3 points

Yeah but 670 said he's a meanie. So pitchfork mob at Clevinger!3 points
-
So despite all evidence and findings proving otherwise, you're still ready to send the guy to the Gulag? Seems Fascist, tbh.3 points

Only the White Sox could make a win excruciating. Santos is another guy who can't handle later inning situations.2 points

A good free agent class and the Sox fortunes are mutually exclusive. They never end up in Chicago anyway. At least on the Sox.2 points

Do you think any of them really care? They still get to cash their paychecks whether they win 100 games or lose 100 games.2 points

Sorry, but I live in a world where due process is a thing.2 points

They're going to lose 100+ games and this moron won't sacrifice a win today for possible future wins via development. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard a professional coach say.2 points
-
So, there was due process, he was cleared by MLB, and you're upset about his intro song, something his teammate may have done on social media, and further claims by the person he was cleared of abusing? That's really bizarre.2 points

I'd 100% bring Clevenger back.2 points

This has been mostly our intact line-up that was supposed to be formidable... Wow is it bad... it's pretty remarkable how shitty the offense is. We are not missing anyone that wasn't supposed to be a threat... and we can't do s%*# on offense.1 point

Lot of people here wasting a lot of time and energy arguing over a white trash custody dispute of a slightly above average pitcher. Move on folks. Either live with him pitching for your team or don't.1 point

You know seeing how the Rick Haun replacement went, I see no reason the SOx could do any better if they ever fired Pedro. It may be worse that Pedro hard to imagine that Past that please fire Pedro1 point

I think AJ's future is in the broadcasting booth. I'd love to have him be the White Sox TV color man. But the Sox would have to have a new owner that wouldn't fire him for being honest.1 point

If you want to read extreme fantasy bullshit, see Merkin on mlb.com. I guess they are forced to write like that. I believe guys who have to put their work in print can't be as honest as those on the radio. I never believe in using a player's career in determining how they will be as coaches or execs. I think it's a damning thing for great players to be head coaches. It destroys their past among fans. Guys like Big Hurt should avoid this type of career. Sox fans are into the former player syndrome. Do you think someone like AJ would make a difference. I think not. He's too honest and hotheaded. Give him a A team first and then see how it goes.1 point

Yr a visionary no doubt, good call esp just a few games into the season Do you give stock tips?1 point

@South Side Hit Menyet how often do we read stop playing that over the hill vet and bring up the AAA kid? I'd rather see big energy or the legend instead of rushing guys up1 point

Don't see many "open tryouts" beyond the catcher, second base and right field holes they had since the prior decade (save for McCann's time here). Sounds like a continuation plan of failure for bringing up players not ready and not developed by Chris Getz heading into this season (Colas, Gonzales, Sosa). Even if Jerry is willing to spend, which is doubtful with declining ticket sales for a third consecutive season, there aren't any good free agents willing to come here. As always, it will be relievers and old players signing their last contract with no other options (Dunn, La Roche, Keuchel, Grandal, Parrot, Lynn). Open Tryouts - 40 Man Roster Players under 2024 White Sox contract / control (ML Minimum - Arb 3) (Player & 2023 fWAR through 9/14) Position Players - 17 Under Control for 2024 Catchers: Carlos Perez -0.1 & Korey Lee -0.3 First Base: Andrew Vaughn 0.4 Second Base: Jose Rodriguez 0.0 vs. Lenyn Sosa -0.6 Third Base: Yoan Moncada 0.7 Shortstop: Tim Anderson -0.6 Left Field: Andrew Benintendi 0.2 Centerfield: Luis Robert 4.8 Rightfield: Oscar Colas -1.3 vs. Gavin Sheets -0.9 Designated Hitter: Eloy Jimenez 0.3 Infield Reserve: Zach Remillard 0.1 Outfield Reserve: Adam Haseley -0.2 vs. Trayce Thompson -0.3 vs. Jackson "Clint" Frasier -0.4 Reserve: Loser of one of the above "battles" Minor League Players: Bryan Ramos (AA 22 Years Old) Pitchers - 20 Under Control for 2024 Starters (6 - Threshold = 1 or more 2023 starts): Cease 3.0; Scholtens 0.4; Banks 0.0; Toussaint 0.0; Lambert -0.5; Kopech -0.9 Relievers (11): Santos 1.6; Bummer 0.7; Ramsey 0.3; Peralta 0.1; Patino 0.1; Padilla 0.0; Garcia 0.0; Navarro 0.0; Hendriks -0.1; Crochet -0.1; Cronin -0.2 Minor League Players (3 - Zero White Sox 2023 Appearances): Foster (29 - TJS); Martin (27 - AAA); Ramirez (29 - AAA). Note - Unrestricted (Chicago / Illinois Lockdowns) attendance in 2021 (late June - Year End) was higher / game than unrestricted 2022 season. 2023 is a decline from 2022, 2024 will likely be a decline from 2023 with the extinguishing of any hope after the Chris Getz / Pedro Grifol 2024 debacle.1 point

Eh, it can also mean someone is willing to lie under oath. It’s not that rare. At this point, I almost want the Sox to bring him back to watch this site burn 😆1 point

This is the exact same as Getz and Grifol bring winning attitude from Royals. More Sox BS.1 point

I think multiple things can be true. 1) Clevinger has been our best pitcher and he may be a scumbag. 2) I know that custody battles bring out the worst in many people. Two doctors were divorcing. The dad had to put his son on the stand to refute his wife's claims that the bruises in a picture were not caused by him but actually when she fell down the stairs. Putting a kid in that situation is awful and she was a child psychologist. 3) Not an attorney disclaimer. I don't think Clevinger was cleared. Criminally, they decided the evidence was unlikely to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't know if a civil suit has been filed where guilt is, I believe, established by a preponderance of the evidence which is a lower standard. I don't know MLB's standard. Innocent would be established if he went to trial and was judged not guilty or his accuser admitted lying. 4) Baseball, like the world, is filled with a wide variety of people. Many are unsavory, awful, and scumbags. Baseball usually cares more about performance than character. 5) Clevinger has been our best pitcher and he may be a scumbag.1 point

We know their rookies aren't exactly setting the world on fire but what good do Andrus Shaw and Grandal do for the future by taking up playing time these last two weeks? Just seems completely obvious to everyone but Getz and Grifol. Then leaving our starter hung out to dry in the late innings? TLR was better than this.1 point

Wait, what?!? I'm always amazed at how dudes dismiss a woman's word as insignificant or lies, even when given under oath. He was "cleared" in that his abuse and harassment didn't meet MLB's threshold for suspension. The intro song shows immaturity. Colas stalking her social media is weird, but considering the allegations, could certainly scare a person under legal siege from a multi-millionaire. The claims of abuse were made under oath, and there's nothing to them that make them sound made up. A normal human being should have a problem with Clevenger's alleged actions, regardless of his ERA. I can't fathom how you see a person's disgust with that abuse and harassment to be "bizarre". Too many guys are way too comfortable with how hard it is for a woman to be taken seriously about abuse.1 point

He really should sue them.1 point
-
I'm just going to go out on a limb and say if there was any shred of solid evidence of this MLB would have thrown the book at him. This ain't 10 years ago. He would have been suspended, in jail, etc. I just can't see MLB and the police turning a blind eye to it. This isn't like Ray Rice almost 10 years ago level cover up. That s%*# was easier back in the day to sweep away than it is today. Anyways, I hate the guy too, so don't go thinking he's on my fantasy team or anything.1 point

It’s not amazing, it’s depressing. It would be amazing if we didn’t all know this was happening when it was announced, but nope we all pretty much knew the worst possible decisions would start rolling in one after another. nah, not amazing any longer1 point

$5 million for a month is going to bust every budget in September Some teams will make exceptions and break the budget, but not for a guy with Clevingers recent injury history, and just missing a month and a half. Explain the Rangers trade for Chapman? Explain was Uriah was on the Dodgers roster after his 2019 problem. Explain Marcel Ozuna in the Braves line up? He punched his wife right in front of a cop.Explain Roberto Osuna being acquired by the Astros. Explain Domingo Germans continued employment with the Yankees. And those are guys that actually got suspended.1 point
-
No. That’s the equivalent of a 30 million a year deal at that point most teams can’t add to their budget, plus he had just pitched one time the previous month and a half, I love how you ignore that to fit into your new claim that all teams except the White Sox give legit interviews to minorities and don’t employ scum. It’s weird you mention Gio. His payout for the month will be a third of Clevinger. But it’s stuff like this you throw out there when you are just wrong. And top prospect for Lynn. A 23 year old with a 5.00 ERA in AA? I think the Dodgers have better prospects than that.1 point
-
The only reason Clevinger went unclaimed is because he was owed the buyout, and he had just returned from injury. If the deadline was today, and he didn’t have that mutual buyout, multiple teams would hold their noses and claim him. Since he wasn’t suspended or anything, a team will pay him. I hope it’s not the White Sox.1 point

Seems like the Sox should have gotten a lot more than just Eder for Burger. Eder sounds like a total reclamation project with a high probability of never making the big leagues. Jake Burger is producing in real time right now and is a cheap cost controlled player.1 point
