  6. What I don't want is to be the Cubs...one WS and a real good half decade and then standing again on the precipice . I want this team to be a juggernaut and part of that is not trading away key positional pieces before the soufflé has risen. The fun part of the White Sox right now is people saying "Eloy might be the best hitter on the team" and I think...well...yes but Robert might be...or Moncada or Vaughan...I mean those are four hitters that could be the greatest hitters the White Sox have had in our lifetimes (Excluding Frank Thomas who was an alien). And that doesn't even count Tim Anderson...who in his last 172 games has hit .333 with 28 homers, 43 doubles and stole 22 bases...at SS...or the rookie 2b that hit .341, or the reigning MVP...or the second best catcher in baseball. Plus...we have a DOZEN very exciting starting pitchers that are 26 or younger. Stiever was our top 5 prospect...came in his first ML game and looked amazing and we were all excited...then he got shelled the next game and we never talk about him again???? I say sign Springer who will make our offense and defense elite. Sign Quintana for cheap and then let Cease and Kopeck and Dunning and Stiever and Crochett and Lambert and Lopez and Kelly and Dahlquist and Thompson with the new hot shot pitching coach fill in four and five. There's a very real possibility that three of those 10 will be better than Darvish or Woodruff by 2022...and we are set to be the 1970 Cincinnati Reds.

  8. I've seen several people comment that he played for LaRussa. I don't put a lot of stock into that being a factor in his hiring. He played for quite a few managers in his career, including Cito Gaston, Dusty Baker, Larry Rothschild, Don Baylor, Joe Torre, Charlie Manuel, and Jim Riggleman (twice). The pitching and bench coach hires have been encouraging. If the Sox go out and have a productive off season and fill the necessary holes, LaRussa will be a minor concern moving forward.

  10. This could be your most sensical post yet. I'm telling ya, there's something innate in the cub fan, latent or otherwise, that can be sniffed out like a phermone. You don't exactly know what it is, you just know it like a sixth sense.

  12. Think of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. When it comes to things that should be provided by the government: Food, if you can't afford it Shelter, if you can't afford it. A Public Option for healthcare if you want to use it.....regardless of income. Also, you can't function in the modern world without internet access, so I think that should be included in your utilities. Everyone should have access. Same with cell phones, they can be attached to your internet access. That's it.... HOWEVER: There are things that legislation could and should do to make the path to independence/the middle class as smooth as possible such as: 1. Reigning in college tuition and capping student loan interest rates at 1% 2. Strengthening workplace protections and labor laws.....making employers have to recognize a union if one wants to form. There should be no barriers to creating a union if the workers so choose. 3. Reigning in capitalism's excesses, by taking down corporations such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, and the big banks, also groups like Comcast, and cell phone providers, etc....competition leads to innovation. The Sherman Antitrust act is there for a reason.....use it. 4. Strong minimum wage laws and limits on how much a person can work during the week. 5. End the Independent contractor bullshit. That's just a way for an employer to skirt around paying benefits packages. 6. Instead of just handing out tax breaks to corporations like candy, instead make them earn them. If they reinvest in their employees, reinvest in their company..hire more people....things that actually help the economy.....If they do those things, then they get a tax break. 7. Make it easier for small businesses to compete on a macro level and grow......BREAK UP MONOPOLIES AND CARTELS!!! A huge thing is how businesses react to downturns in the economy in this culture.......instead of laying people off, everyone takes a pay cut...that's a more humane option.

  13. Jordan is another disgusting human being. Ask abused Ohio State wrestlers. He hid they were being sexually abused. Glad you like that style. Lyin' Ted Cruz with the JFK murdering father and the ugly wife, now kisses the toes of the person that made those claims. He also called a colleague an ass for asking senators wear masks, and one actually gets the Covid the next day. Another guy to admire.

  15. I don’t understand how you can come to the negative conclusion. Coaches don’t rave about a player being an amazing person when they are a fat, lazy, PoS as Two-Guns is opining. Being a coach at the high school level, I’d never give my highest praises to a kid that is funny as hell but doesn’t work at all. If we have the whole Sox org and Missouri State’s staff saying he’s the most amazing person, then I’d imagine Burger was doing what he needed to be doing. If he was able to hack 3B at the weight and get more power, then it could’ve been intentional for how Burger and his coaches understood the dude’s body. Some lower body injuries later it seems obvious he needed to be slimmer or he needs to be now, but calling him lazy seems presumptive. I’m not even that high on Burger as a prospect. I expect absolutely nothing from him and would be happy with a few accumulated war for his career, but you’re being nasty without justification.

  17. Was always well regarded as a player. Spanish speaking. Played for lots of teams. Very adept at analytics. Coming from Yankees structure is a benefit. Well regarded infield instructor. Cairo wasn't on my radar but I'm glad they went outside the organization for bench coach and pitching coach.

  25. To be completely honest - that is probably the most sincere answer I've heard from him yet and I actually get it. He's been having calls from people saying he should be impeached from day 1. So I can see why he is taking this crazy stance from that perspective (meaning I see his logic - not saying i condone it or support it - the dude is horrible and should move on). 4 years ago the other side, recognized that Trump won...but it did feel like from day 1 they were out to dump him - which trust me, I get, he's not my guy and I don't support him, but he was elected president (the crusade's shouldn't start the 1st day the president is in office, no matter how small or big the margin is - let the process play out and remember you are representing the people (not just your party - the people). Now 4 years later and the tides turn and the left's views inverse just as the right's views inverse. Than you have a centrist like myself who literally just has his mind blown every 4 years at the sheer hypocrisy that exists (and shame on me for having it always happen). I do think Biden has the sincerity about him where maybe he can actually flip the pendulum.

  31. That's because both parties are servants to the corporate interests and wealthy donors that finance their campaigns. What's good for the people doesn't matter, the only thing that both parties care about is how to keep getting donations. The GOP tells you exactly who they are. The Dems talk a good game, while walking the line of what they can actually give to the people without pissing off their donors. The reason why the GOP wins elections is that the public will vote for an honest asshole over a compassionate liar the majority of the time. The GOP pushes the envelope of how much of an asshole they can be before voters turn on them. But really, without campaign finance reform, we all have to realize that we are not either party's constituents. Those are the wealthy donors. Nothing substantial will change and our rights will continue to be eroded in the name of making a buck. If you don't reign in the excesses of capitalism, it will cannibalize democracy.

  38. Meh, Madrigal feels like the "subtle racism of lowered expectations," in that he's a small white guy, so OF COURSE he's "baseball smart," "good at defense," and "a grinder," right? I can forgive physical mistakes, given his injuries. But his moronic baserunning bothered me, TBH. If he's here in '21, I hope he gets his shit sorted. If he's traded this offseason, I won't lose too much sleep over it.

  39. Imagine the ammunition you would have had if it was .240 in those 29 games. And yet the Madrigal bashers seem to always mention his bad base running, baseball IQ , and bad fielding that occurred in those 29 games.

  44. Michigan legislators are supposed to come to the White House to strategize with Trump. How can a state legislature even think of picking slate of electors to cast their ballot for a losing candidate is beyond me. Even if, in the end, this doesn't make any difference, the Congress should not accept a slate of electors for a candidate who lost a state by over 100,00 votes. This gets worse by the day and by the minute. Trump is beyond being a disgrace.

  45. Miguel Cairo has a good background. Walt Jocketty obtained him a few times and transitioned him to a coaching role in Cincinnati. He then moved on to the Yankees, a solid organization. Perhaps some Sox fans will feel better since he can also be seen as an "Ozzie Guy". @OzzieGuillen 3h: great guy good baseball man and great friend hope help and i think he will He might even call it a "Grand Slam". https://www.facebook.com/daviidveliz17/videos/miguel-cairo-cincinnati-reds-vs-chicago-cubs-grand-slam/2688541378089702/

  48. Okay so here's the thing. I saw some confusion yesterday and I'll try to clear it up. I think the White Sox are more likely to trade for pitching if they get an impact guy. They're absolutely interested in George Springer. Will they get him? I have no idea. I'm not sure how soon he even wants to sign but I think the White Sox are approaching it the same way they did with Grandal. Whether it works or not will be determined later I guess. It's insane the number of fake/insider accounts out there right now. It won't dissuade anyone but I've never needed a nonsense account. I just post from mine. I also run the FutureSox one sometimes and one for the track and field team I coach. I don't have time for another account and if I did, it wouldn't be as clever. The Portillos one actually has some solid intel if you go back to last year which is strange. I think everyone should be patient but I know that won't happen.
