I didn't know managers were allowed to pinch hit their best players on rest days4 points

So, we're officially at the point now where Cease was the bigger regret for the Cubs of the Quintana trade, yeah?4 points

I’d put Yoan 2nd. Give me a guy whose had known success in that spot and will compliment Anderson’s aggressive approach with his patience and ability to work the count. 1. SS Anderson R 2. 3B Moncada S 3. CF Robert R 4. 1B Abreu R 5. C Grandal S 6. LF Vaughn R 7. RF Pollock R 8. DH Sheets L 9. 2B Harrison/Garcia R/S4 points

The Sox are undefeated since the new banner! It’s already paying off! Thanks @Kalapse!3 points

My hate for him is he was a nice story in 2021 but far too much stock was put into it by the FO. He’s just this year’s Delmonico or Palka.3 points

Cease is a stud. Boy has he taken a huge step forward this season. Great to see.3 points

The Angels have been playing good baseball and are leading in the West. We just split a 4 game home series with them. Outstanding, no. Acceptable, yes. Better, absolutely.3 points

He captivated a fanbase with a .105/.177/.175/.353 line in 62 PA for the Sox in 2017.3 points

Holy moly. They must have had a team meeting to discuss what a "walk" is.3 points

Cease looked amazing today. He made Mike Trout look lost at the plate. Hell, he mystified the entire lineup. Graveman continues to be the guy we need him to be. Hendriks has never looked this good in a Sox uniform. Hitting 100, locating both fastballs and the slider. That's what an elite closer looks like. Hopefully that's what we see moving forward. Huge win. A much needed win.2 points
-
Hendriks was on a mission out there. Taking no prisoners.2 points

However, every single year his April velocity has been lower than his May-July velocity. April 2019: 93.3 April 2021: 93.4 April 2022: 92.9 He's a half mph lower than previous Aprils, but comparing April to his full season numbers is not appropriate given his pattern. In 2021, Gio had a big first outing where his fastball averaged 95, then the next 3 games was 92.7, 92.9, 93. So far this year, his numbers are 93, 92.6, 93.1 - completely comparable to starts 2, 3, and 4 in 2021.2 points

Burger has less than a full season in the MLB. He is not what he will be.2 points
-
I think Sheets is what he is. Burger lost so much time to injury that I don't agree with that about him....yet.2 points

Jo Addell might be one of the worst outfielders I've ever seen. Especially for a guy who's pretty fast.2 points
-
Also for the record, THIS is why you let Dylan Cease have extreme ups and a LOT of downs over his first few years. The arm was always there, but learning HOW to pitch (not throw) can take a while.2 points

I take bad everything I said about Cease 2 years ago2 points

Cano and his 2 BBs, would be 6th on our roster in walks. Our inability to take a walk is astounding.2 points
-
And all those guys hit right handed. It wasn't hard to look at this roster and see its filled with way too many right handed free swingers. Yet, the Sox decided to go into the season with Gavin fuckin' Sheets as the main solution to mitigate that. Its so dumb.2 points

I blame the poster who was upset about the Sox being last in strikeouts the first week.2 points

I will say this much. It might well be another false start, but yesterday that 5 run ninth was the first time all season I really saw some fight and fire from these guys while facing adversity. Sure they have had stretches where things have gone well, but it was the first time they have fought back after things looking bad. This team all year has rolled over and played dead at adversity. Hopefully it is a sign that something finally clicked yesterday.2 points

We can make the ideal lineup until we are blue in the face but we know TLR will only have the best lineup out there 1-2 games a week2 points

Until Lynn and Cueto pitch and show they're healthy and effective I would not DFA him. I would send him to the pen based on performance and send a message to the team that if you don't perform you lose your job. Hell, use an "opener" in his spot until the other guys are ready. Every game he pitches is a bullpen day anyway, so just make it official.2 points

Kind of funny to go after the guys with the 4th and 6th best OPS from guys who start/healthy2 points

If you trade Eloy now, or anytime by next winter, you're likely getting pennies on the dollar back for him. And maybe some people would be ok with that between his injuries and underperforming. I'm not ready to go there yet.1 point

Who would want Eloy right now? Nobody would give up anything useful for him. He's owed a lot of money, hits the ball on the ground far too often, can't pick a batting stance, hurts himself taking a piss, almost injures teammates *often* and can't field for shit1 point

Even if this was actually a possibility, I don’t trust Rick Hahn or the major league scouting department to get the right pieces here1 point

And? Blowing their wad on relievers and scrubs when everyone could see they had major issues against RHP and also had a real need to replace Rodon and a real 2B was their choice. The old man listened to the wrong person and now we are paying the price. I'm not going to get rid of our high end guys just because we spent stupidly when everyone was screaming at the organization that they were spending stupidly. Fucking Ray Charles could see this train wreck coming. So why should we make radical moves to try and save it. If you put your dick in a blender you don't have the right to scream when someone presses the On button. Sink or swim. I'm not sacrificing Giolito, Lynn, Robert, Jimenez, Moncada, Anderson, Kopech, Cease, Vaughn or young savages in the minors. The answer is no. Fight thru it. IDGAF that it's hard to swim when there's an anvil wrapped around their neck. Figure it out. If it burns, it burns.1 point

As terrible as he is, he is nowhere near the the top 10 reasons this team is playing so poorly. Sad.1 point

Exactly. Everytime we bail out an industry or corporation send money to everyone. Tax breaks for lowering carbon emissions? Send everyone money. Incentives to move jobs back to the US? Send everyone money! Hurricane hit Florida? Send everyone money! I always did like your figuring G-7. Now when are you going put a six shooter in your pocket??1 point

It is valid to a certain extent to compare Robert and Buxton. However, Buxton's first season was 2015(only 46 games) but he has been at it quite a bit longer than Robert. So Minnesota fans have been waiting a good amount of time for Buxton, so I think White Sox fans should be a little patient with Robert since this is his 2nd full season.1 point
-
I know he has potential but I wish his teammates specifically would stfu about the Trout comparison. Trout was an absolute fucking beast from the moment he hit the league and never looked back. He is a bonafide top 10 all time player. Robert at this point is one of the most exciting players in the game when he's locked in, but just as often he's impossible to watch when he's scuffling.1 point
