  1. Menechino: Preaches patience, OBP, generally was seen to have a good philosophy for the modern game until this year. Produced results. TLR: Offensive philosophy relied on steroids or having Albert Pujols.

  2. Fucking moronic. I’m beyond over TLR.

  3. Why is Abreu the only one who doesn't get rest and he has been by far the worst?

  4. How long before people start asking what we can get for Cueto at the deadline?

  5. This team just refuses to score add on runs and the bullpen has to do this just about every game.

  6. I'm getting to the point where I think this team just is what it is. Mediocre to bad offense and good pitching that's prone to explosions every so often.

  7. We’re so screwed with him making decisions

  8. Now I see why you like Tony. Leury Garcia hitting 2nd. some dude named "Roberts" hitting 3rd , and some dude named "Pollack" hitting 8th.

  9. Cmon man. He took Pujols deep yesterday. If LaRussa was his manager, he would beg the Cardinals throw at him his next AB.

  10. Tony LaRussa is on the one who can needs to be fired. Even if you want to place all of the blame for this offense so far on the hitting coach, he doesn't get the blame for the defense, or for the bullpen. He also doesn't get the responsibility for the lack of health of this team. But when you are missing major pieces of the team , plus benching starters on a regular basis, this shouldn't be that much of a surprise that they don't hit consistently. Honestly, maybe it took a while, but this team looks exactly how I was afraid it would look last year when Tony took over. Maybe it took a while for him to lose them, but they look lost. I have never seen guys like Tim Anderson and Jose Abreu look less sharp and excited about the game.

  11. I’ll explain it to you. I’m not ok just getting into the playoffs and “seeing what happens.” The Astros, who out classed the Sox in 2021, have made 5 straight ALCS. That’s not luck. The attitude your describing is the attitude the Sox have taken, which has earned them one of the most depressing 100 year stretches for any professional franchise. I’m not going to apologize for wanting more. You shouldn’t either.

  12. Because the combo of Rick Hahn and Tony freaking sucks. It’s amazing how shitty this roster is given where last year ended.

  18. Only thing he stands for these days is a grounder a foot to his left or right

  19. No, it actually hasn't because he's almost never put the optimal lineup out there. Spark... lol, do you know how you maximize your run production? By giving your best hitters the most at bats. This isn't rocket science.

  20. Amazing how much of a terrible signing Harrison was. Instead of finding someone to help against tough RHP, the Sox have to play Leury and Engel together.

  21. Have been watching this for a while and have to take the bus today because of weather so let’s write this. A solid predictor of future performance and team quality is run differential. If teams are winning close games but getting blown out in losses, they will have a record better than their run differential and often that means their record will correct eventually with a batch of losses in close games. The White Sox are at -30 this year. That is 24th in baseball, between the Rockies and the Orioles. This is legitimately bad. They are way worse than the Cubs or Red Sox on this, they are down with the Tigers. This is a team that has played extremely bad baseball overall, and this is why the fans are pessimistic despite their record - they have played way worse than their record. This is also bad enough that its not something that one player returning from injury will fix. Whatever other metric you attach - strength of schedule or whatever else - doesn’t help this. Context is useful here. Last year the White Sox had a +147 run differential - not the Dodgers or Astros but a legit playoff team. This is a team playing dramatically worse than last year. A few other teams like the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Reds have similar dramatic drop offs and they are not good teams right now. What about last years’ Braves? In mid May they had a -15 run differential. By June 1 it was back to close to 0, it hung close to 0 throughout June, then they were at +40 by the trade deadline - not a dominant team but a legitimate wild card threat before adding players. That’s what we need to be doing literally right now - winning games solidly and moving that back towards 0 by mid June. Right now this team looks like pretenders because they look like the Orioles or Tigers. In run differential they dropped from 0 during that first losing streak, hovered for a week, and then kept getting worse. If we are talking about a team on Memorial Day that has a -40 run differential, which is what they’re on pace for then they might well be a true 3rd place team.

  30. The same thing happens if you hit Vaughn 4th. Except this way, Vaughn gets fewer chances to hit and fewer RBI chances. It might work once. This is dumb enough to be an extra loss if he does it a few times.

  38. Under no circumstance should Leury bat in the top two thirds of the lineup. Ever. TA, Moncada, Vaughn, Robert, Abreu, Grandal, Pollock, Sheets DH, Leury is how I would line them up.

  39. If that were the case, #2 would likely be the cause of #1, but I'm not gonna get sucked into a Parkman doom spiral about why this team was actually doomed from the start because Eloy Jimenez once struck out 3 times in a game in 2019.

  43. Given the overall poor play of the White Sox this season, winning two of the five game series against Kansas City seems about right. If the Sox win three, that would be good.

  44. The thing about the hitting coach that always comes back is someone will say hitting coaches don't really matter, but if that's the case there's no real reason not to fire them either so you may as well give it a shot.

  45. The second paragraph is pretty much what I feared as well. I also wonder if he started lose the team mid season last year too. Whenever it was, they do look lost and unprepared on a daily basis. I would have been lambasted last year by some for saying it, but in the end TLR will be the reason this team doesn’t win. There will be other factors but I still believe a good manager has these guys ready to play every day and puts them in better position to win games. The holes on the roster combined with the lack of depth is a major contributor in their shortcomings, but ultimately I fear the decision to force a washed up has-been upon this team will be their undoing.

  46. It's not just the hitting. This team loses focus with all phases. That's on the HOF baseball person. But that obvious move will never happen unfortunately. Even the Big Hurt said they were sleepwalking through Sunday's game. How do you sleepwalk against the Yankees.

  48. Apparently I've missed the whole history with Ron and Abreu, but he's really not far off with this take. It was pointed out on this very site that Abreu made some surprising, uncharacteristic comments this past offseason intimating he may not finish in Chicago and he may be losing some passion for the game. He 100% looks like a guy who has lost passion. I'm very hopeful he can come back around but this reminds me very much of 2013 Konerko...dude just fell off a cliff in production. We kept waiting and waiting for him to find his groove and it just never happened. Came back the next season, still couldn't hit, and retired. Much like Konerko, Abreu isn't going to ask to be dropped in the order or get more rest. TLR is going to have to have a difficult conversation with Jose if he is still scuffling in the middle of June....a competitive team can't afford so little production out of a spot in the top half of the lineup.
