  1. I don't blame him, blame the front office and coaching staff

  2. Anyone the White Sox trade will undoubtedly excel elsewhere. The issue isn't talent at all. It's organizational rot, approach, development, and culture.

  3. No. Our owner, front office, and TLR messed up by playing a 1B in Right Field for the first time in a new ballpark.

  4. It's not Vaughn's fault. He's not a fucking outfielder, guys. Direct your anger appropriately. The guy is being put into a position to fail.

  5. Vaughn gives back almost all of the value from his bat by being such an awful defensive outfielder. Which isn't his fault whatsoever.

  6. can we require dallas to send johnny everything we paid him at the beginning of the season? toronto now beating the twins as well

  9. TA has 120 wRC+ this season. He's been frustrating with runners on this year (even more reason to keep him at lead-off), but batting him 9th is bat shit crazy.

  10. Putting the word "cease" into a game thread on days when Cease is not pitching is somewhat confusing.

  11. I generally don't pick which games I go to because of promotions, but a "first 15,000 fans get to punch TLR" would get me there for sure.

  12. 29 Year Anniversary of Robin Ventura getting pummeled by Nolan Ryan. Sox should play in TX every August 4th to commemorate.

  13. Apparently the Blue Jays didn't confirm with Merrifield he would get vaccinated before the trade.

  14. Vaughn isn’t a RF blame Hahn for his shitty roster construction. Eloy isn’t an OF either, once again blame RH. Guess who also isn’t an OF… Sheets…. or Leury….. fuck Hahn.

  15. It's been said so many times, but this is one of the least likable teams I've ever seen. There's like 5 guys even worth rooting for.

  16. I'll be honest, shocked Moncada hustled enough to get to 3rd there

  17. The Rangers have thrown 3 lefties against the White Sox today and I have no idea how these are the results.

  18. Just a reminder that Rick Hahn has done NOTHING to address RF at all in the past 2 trade deadlines.

  19. We can't fault Vaughn for his awful OF play. He has no business being out there. He is a 1B/DH period! Sit Moncada!!! I will take Burgers brutal defense over watching Moncada sleepwalk through another at bat. DFA Grandal. I don't care how much he is owed he is washed up and has no business playing anymore. Bring up some of the youngsters and maybe it will inject some life in to this corpse of a team.

  20. He's the 2nd best hitter on the team, but worth less than 1 WAR cause his defense is negative double digit runs bad.

  21. It blows my mind how this team went from exciting and fun to watch when batting, to nearly unwatchable, in less than two years. With mostly the same roster. Unbelievable.

  22. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Yoan Moncada. The plate discipline is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of advanced metrics most of his play will go over a typical baseball fan's head. There's also Yoan's defensive outlook, which is deftly woven into his wins above replacement- his hitting philosophy draws heavily from Frank Menechino, for instance. The true Sox fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his walks, to realize that they're not base on balls- they say something deep about BASEBALL. As a consequence people who dislike Yoan Moncada truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the value in Yoan's existential catchphrase "Disastre Personal," which itself is a cryptic reference to his struggles with females off the field. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Yoan Moncada's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. ? And yes, by the way, i DO have a Yoan Moncada tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid ?

  29. The Sox have a better Jackie Bradley, but Tony refuses to play him. Tony has only started Adam Engel 39 times last season (1.6 bWAR) and 48 this year (0.8 bWAR). There are only four White Sox hitters with a higher war (Abreu, Robert, Anderson and Harrison) this season. With all of the OF injuries and Sheets/Vaughn playing the corners, his defense alone would have won at least a few games for the Sox this season. Tony was starting Pollock over Engel in CF, which is completely ludicrous. Sheets' OPS + is only 9 points higher this season (92 vs. 83), and he ranks among the all time worst right fielders in the 120 + year history of The MLB.

  30. Once tried to do a dog every half inning with my brother. Not the dollar dogs. The better ones. With onions obviously. He went 6 innings. I went 6 1/2. Felt like garbage for days. Worth it for the win though.

  32. I think there's a lot of uncertainty around Conforto, but he wants to get back in the game and he has a track record of success. Probably worth the risk for the Sox, especially if signed for a lower salary and he uses 2023 to rebuild his value.

  33. Look, putting Cease in this thread title is intentionally misleading and I for one will not stand for it. I’m not gonna make you change it because that will make my superstitious sense go off the charts…but I don’t like it.

  39. Every day I find out new stuff that boggles my mind about the whole front office like the difference between Sheets home and rode splits. Sheets shouldn't even be playing on the road. Where's analytics with this simple info. Who's getting important info to the people who could use it ? So here's another one. Brandon Drury, with his 20 HR, which the Sox surely could've used is traded for an 18 yo, DR, SS in the ACL that the Padres paid $1.8M for 2 or 3 years ago. I don't know maybe he was exactly what the Reds wanted considering the Padres got Drury and no one else did. However, how could the Sox not beat that ? Did they even look into Drury ? He's a multi-positional guy who would've easily been the Sox best power hitter. Couldn't some underling have been looking into what other teams were looking for . Are the Sox understaffed ? There's a lot going on in the off season and during the trade deadline. They'd have to have some idea Drury would be available for at least a month now. How is he overlooked ?
