Those were Cleveland fans who were heckling him, and it was one time, not "any chance he gets"5 points

Given how much the defense improved when TA went out and Andrus was picked up, at what point do the Sox make the switch on these two if TA struggles at SS? I feel like the Sox will be more concerned with managing TA's ego than they are with fielding the best team but I am pretty confident today that the best lineup the Sox can field right now is TA at 2B and Andrus at SS. Who knows with the new manager.4 points

You mean we all get to use the balls they used for Yankees games last year?3 points

I think the RF choice is the more pressing issue. They went out and got a LFer because he couldnt keep healthy playing the field. Now we are going to pretend that him in RF at any reps is any better. How about the fact that he has a noodle for an arm. Lots of dudes going first to 3rd on him this year if he plays the field. He should be a DH day one just to press this home that this is his position. Not letting the inmates run the asylum.3 points

I hope so but I've decided just to not expect Liam this year and be pleasantly surprised. just want him cancer-free first.3 points

SS2K5 is always the smartest guy in the room. He is right and you are wrong regardless of the topic. That is what he believes at least.3 points
-
Great, then he should be a DH day one. Playing him in RF sends the wrong message. Especially game one of the preseason.2 points

I watched it. I disagree he 'threatened' Chuck's access. I like Tim's demeanor. I LOVE his hitting. I feel like his defense is good not great. Good in that he makes some amazing plays. Not great cause he boots some easy ones, at least the games I watch. And he gets hurt too much. I mean not his fault but it sucks when he's out. I got nothing against TA speaking his mind. As far as this season ... I feel we all should let it play out. Let TA be TA and let's root for him as fans to hit .330 with a lotta BBs and make the routine play. Keep his concentration in the field and help us be a surprise team of baseball. We got a new manager and hopefully his enthusiasm will spark the club. Much different than an elderly Tony. PLAY BALL, cmon TA we got your back (unless u stink this year and cause problems).2 points

No, it refers to Walt "No-Neck" Williams, my favorite White Sox player from the 60s. Only 5-feet-6, but he had a motor that had to be seen to be believed. He always hustled ... Loved watching him play back in the day: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/williwa02.shtml2 points

No, you were the one who read something that wasn’t said. You associated the criticism of a player’s attitude with his race.2 points
-
I appreciate you wanting to throw racism into the picture when it comes to criticism of him and his play but you my friend are the one bringing up the color of his skin not me. His performance and attitude over the past year have been dogshit at best and that’s all I’ve said.2 points
-
I mentioned Tim's skin because it 100% colors a lot of opinions towards him.2 points

Good article, but I enter 2023 not feeling negative toward TA. He didn't say anything offensive IMO. He's a very good player. He needs to stay healthy, take more than a few walks and get that BA up to around .330 so he can be a perennial all-star. ... Also try to cut down the errors on simple plays. He makes spectacular plays often.1 point
-
No one is going to make that move and you wouldn't either if you were manager unless you wanted all your bosses to say WTF are you doing ? You wouldn't even get out of ST saying I'm moving TA to 2b in favor of our last minute $3M guy.1 point

It's literally the first practice game of the preseason, I don't think the Sox are concerned with any messages their practice squads send. They're getting their guys ABs and they're trying Eloy in RF - like Grifol said they would. Frankly, let him get his reps in early like this so we can prove it's a failed experiment and move on from it sooner rather than later. I'm just not going to get bent out of shape over literally every lineup in practice.1 point

This has been a weird front office thing for a while. Not putting people on the DL, not putting them on the 60 day DL when its obvious that they are not coming back for a while. Its almost like Hahn has no idea on how it works.1 point
-
Hah, they did. A lefty with 5.5 years of control sorta fits the “potentially useful” role. Still strange to lose him if you know Liam is going to 60 day IL and it’s available To them.1 point

We have absolutely zero idea what their plans are, as they’ve proven to be brain dead in the past1 point

Cannot give 400 AB to Moncada with a .626 OPS again at that position again this year. He was awful last year and should not be handed the position until he can show he’s no longer an anchor on the entire lineup. I’ll take Burger’s defense issues if he’s mashing the ball like he did last year.1 point

People keep calling out Gio but if you put his numbers against the MLB's inexplicable changes in enforcement and non-enforcement, he actually looks like a guy who isn't affected by this. That's not to say he isn't/wasn't using before the first wave of enforcement in 2021 because he clearly was both visually and through data with his spin rates dropping after umps started checking. That said, in 2021, he started slow and dominated down the stretch in the post-substance part of 2021. Then 2022, enforcement timing is unclear but his season was worst in years. We also know the MLB was far more relaxed. Just not sure the narrative on Gio is accurate despite him definitely getting help.1 point

I know it's a cliche, but Eloy really is visibly slimmer. Hopefully that indicates renewed offseason focus and translates into lower injury risk.1 point

I’m a fan of bringing Andrus back since they didn’t spend money to go get Jean Segura. $3M is a bargain for Andrus, given what he did last year and his veteran presence to light some fire under some asses who really need it. I don’t see him getting DFA’d and am glad we have the depth when someone inevitably gets hurt. Andrus is one of the few guys on this team that I trust to show up and play, just like Hendriks and Abreu last year. For those who laughed at or bitched about the move, saying that this money shouldn’t have been spent, do you really think this money would have brought another impactful player right now and that this will stop them from adding mid year if the situation calls for it?1 point

I understand what you are saying and there is some truth to it that when a team is going south it is difficult on the players however most players get millions and millions of reasons to deal with it. Fans don't have that luxury.1 point

This whole thing to me comes down to what you're trying to get out of Fanhood. I'm a pessimist during the off season and an optimist during the season. Online and in media, hysteria sells. I get it. At the same time, I don't like the overly negative attitudes and agree with Tim. Harder on them than anyone. No point in beating a dead horse.1 point

I really like Burger as a AAAA player. Help with the inevitable Moncada and Eloy injuries.1 point

Sometimes I like the guy, sometimes I don't. He's a fine player, but he's also not a star I build a team around. I treat him like Willy Adames with the Brewers. I'm all for putting our best offer forward sometime this season and if he declines, then let's trade him. I take this approach with Giolito too. Offer him your best and then trade him when he says no. I'd be much more willing to stretch for Gio than Anderson.1 point

2022 White Sox record with (starting AL All-Star shortstop) Tim Anderson in the lineup: 42-37 2022 White Sox record without TA in the lineup: 39-44 He's a truly exciting player when healthy. And last year was an anomaly for him: he averaged over 500 at bats each year from 2017 to 2021 (with the exception of the shortened Covid year). That "he can't stay healthy" trope is beyond lazy.1 point
-
Telling any player to shut up and play is so dumb. They have media in their face asking questions. Sure, TA could decline some interviews like the 2 he is getting torched for currently, but it is a part of their job. Its one thing if a guy is going on and on about politics and non sports related stuff, but dude is talking about getting paid and fan discontent. So what.1 point
-
I think Anderson should just shut up and play.1 point

North is fucking garbage and the world is a better place with him not on the air1 point

Eloy is a monster hitter who takes his hitting seriously. he studies pitchers during games to determine their tendencies and looks at his swings on an i-pad after his at-bats. He is just a kid at heart and his enthusiasm for the game can be infectious. Moncada looks too relaxed and even lazy to some because of the way he carries himself but as a third basemen he is as quick as a rattle snake snaring rockets and turning them into outs. He has disappointed us as a hitter but let's hope his bat speed and good eye for the strike zone come back this year. TA's swagger is part of what makes him great. Never forget that walk-off against the Yankees in the FOD game. Grandal had some of that confidence before his injuries. Let's hope he regains it and we see him hit some shots out of the park and do his patented bat flip/drop. I hope the Sox prove some of the critics at large wrong this season but even more than that, I hope they jump back on the bandwagon. All aboard. Let's Go.1 point

He's a saint you aren't simple as that. Should be used to it by now from him. You read into things . He never does. He'll try to cancel you out by innuendo and guilt by association .1 point

The Cubs run was a brief blip in their lengthy history of being bad, and winning it all removed their one noteworthy bit of notoriety. Who fucking cares? Why anyone would give a s%*# about what Bryan Shaw or any other FA signing did against them 7 years ago is silly. It’s irrelevant to the here and now. This is also just a NRI depth signing, and if he sucks, he is cut. The Sox *should* be loading up on these to stack up as much depth as possible, not avoiding it.1 point

White Sox are in a good spot at 15. Could be a spot for college pitching or one of the better prep bats due to the amount of college bats who look like top 10 players. It'll be tough to pass on Waldrep or Lowder1 point

Never. They’ll let his contract expire and get absolutely nothing in return as they continue to live in mediocrity.1 point

Anderson will fall apart at some point. He will go from hero to zero. Suggest selling ASAP to get some value out of him.1 point
