  1. He was another dumpster dive for a .5 WAR player. 3.7 million I think. Just more money lit on fire. There's some positives around the club but the FA process remains a complete dumpster fire. They basically wasted 10 million between him and Vaughn. They could have probalby signed a solid closer for 10 million or so and gotten a handful more wins by now.

  2. I didn’t see much of the game, watched a bit over the weekend and kept hearing on the broadcast how great the hitters are, how great the pitching is, how great the prospects are, and on top of that, maybe the greatest coaches ever assembled. How are they 17-37?

  3. On pace for a 6.6 WAR gain as a position player unit over last year. Problem is that would only bring them to a .3 WAR total for the entire season. Additionally their pitching staff is on pace to lose about 2 WAR YoY. In general they still really really stink.

  5. FWIW, in his 100 PAs with the Pirates, Alexander Canario has a .353 xwOBA. Only Tauchman and Slater (in even smaller samples) have higher figures with the White Sox. I've seen his numbers being used as a punchline in here, but he has been very unlucky and has actually had well above-average metrics, just with some particularly bad luck so far (.297 actual wOBA)

  6. On what planet has Andrew Vaughn proven to be a major leaguer?

  7. Bring up some young arms and see what they can do. The Sox will get nothing for the crappy veteran arms blowing games currently.

  8. Game after game great pitching 6 plus innings barely score and give game away 8th inning on!!!!!!

  9. This is a side effect of the Sox crappy pen. Venable has to leave a gassed pitcher in to face the heart of the order cuz he has like two decent guys in the whole pen. Getz should consider getting Pallette or Wikelman or someone up here cuz it is debilitating to blow all these games late.

  10. I’ve seen enough of Rojas. DFA and bring back Elko

  11. I would be very, very surprised if Colson was here before the All-Star break. He's starting to play better but this is a very small sample right now, they don't want to destroy his confidence by bringing him up and seeing him fall flat on his face. As bad as this team is Colson isn't going to change that dynamic, let him keep showing he has turned the corner. I wouldn't mind if he stayed in Charlotte the entire season, maybe come up in September.

  12. The Sox don't seem to be able to get anything out of guys who aren't already ideal players.

  13. It’s almost like the White Sox are really bad at developing and fail their players on the regular. Sheets still doesn’t draw walks and leads the Padres in strikeouts, so it’s not some magical transformation.

  14. Meidroth, Tauchmann, Vargas, Beni, Robert, Palacios, Quero, Sosa, Rojas. Roster doesn't make any sense to me honestly. Should have just kept Elko as the every day 1B. Just cut Rojas.

  15. Thanks for sharing. My whole point around Canario was that he was still relatively young when he was made available by the Cubs and Mets (24, turning 25), he played a position of long-term need for this team (corner OF), was once a highly touted prospect, and still had a plus power tool. Also, while not great it looks like his strikeout percentage didn’t blow up out of control yet going from the minors to the majors, holding at around 28.5%. And what team would have made all the sense in the world to give a guy like Canario at bats? A crappy team like the Sox! And at his relatively young age, you might have added a starting, platoon, or backup outfielder for beyond 2025 and/or the next good Sox team. But I guess you wouldn’t want to block the Tauchman’s and Slater’s of the world who will be gone at the end of the season, if not earlier. Getz has also already employed numerous bums like Jankowski, Maton, Capra, Amaya, Dalbec, etc. this season so I can’t believe anyone would rip on the idea of adding a guy like Canario. Even sadder is how Austin Hays is currently hitting (.950 OPS). Most posters wanted him starting in RF as the best and relatively cheap comeback player candidate available before Getz inexplicably jumped on Slater as his self-proclaimed top free agent target of the offseason. The Reds signed Hays for $1 million more than what Getz paid for Slater + Tauchman and the Reds will likely be able to get decent prospect for Hays at the deadline. Slater and Tauchman aren’t going to return jack squat.

  16. What? It’s like the one area he doesn’t seem to care if they spend since it’s an area that you spend less on good players compared to starters and position players lol

  17. He was flying way open in his delivery and his stuff wasn't as good. That's why he needed to go to Arizona for biomechanics work. They didn't have an issue with delivery otherwise

  18. Tauchman brings nothing to the table even when healthy. he's done.

  19. I think they are better than last year but the offense is still usually anemic and the bullpen sucks.

  20. Why do we watch? Why? Everybody on this board KNEW by the mid-6th inning how this game was going to end up. Every single one of us KNEW it. And yet, we kept watching. We are all soooo stupid. God, I wish I wasn't a White Sox fan.

  33. Vaughn has regressed every year he’s been in the Majors. I hope this stint in Charlotte somehow gets him to the hitter we all hoped he would be, like someone said it helped Torgeson as he’s having a great year with the Tigers.

  34. The infield with Vargas, Meidroth, Sosa and Elko should have been given more time. Yes Sosa is not the best defender but he has a strong arm to turn double plays, has decent range and above all, he is starting to hit. Elko needed another week or two to adjust. Now the Sox are going to really jumble the infield mix in by bringing up Colson. I have a feeling he is not going to hit, will make errors at SS and there will be calls to DFA him.

  36. Knights danced out of bases loaded, no outs with some great defense. Amaya running catch on a pop up, then Colson>Amaya>Vaughn for the DP.

  37. We paid today for not having a true 1st baseman, you can’t send both of your 1st basemen to the minors, Elko was playing well at first and should have never been sent back to Charlotte after only a 10 game and 31 AB period but we have to remember that Getz is still an idiot.

  38. Without making a big deal out of it there's 2 reasons to give veterans 1 year deals when you're bad. 1. Your youngsters aren't ready. 2. Trade them. Don't know who will end up traded or unceremoniously dumped but Colson 's setback was major. The highs and lows have to be less dramatic. You're looking for consistency and a major part of consistency is time. He could have an 0 for 15 slump in a week you'd like to see him bounce back from strongly. He needs the confidence that comes from longer stretches of excellence than a month. A lot of the vets Getz hoped to trade have been injured. Now they're not. A few extra arms at the TDL won't hurt the organization devastated by all the pitching injuries. And Colson showing some consistency of excellence won't hurt either.

  40. The Sox have scored three runs or less in 34 out of the 52 games played, 65%. That's actually an improvement. A few weeks ago they were at 70% total games scoring three runs or less. 65% is still really bad though.

  41. Nothing would be better than Vaughn making the necessary adjustments down there and coming back a new player. Same with Elko- apply what you need to from your brief cup of coffee to be better prepared for when you come back up. This worked for Torkelson…let it work for AV.

  44. What I don’t understand is if they think his mechanics are the issue, since he already had TJS in high school, why would they let it get to this point before they tried to do something about them?

  45. Honestly, this would be the best time for him to go down with a long term injury. This team is dead for the next few seasons. Hopefully he's absolutely fine.

  48. Vaughn has put up exactly 0 bWAR in 5+ years at the MLB level. 595 games, 2,395 plate appearances. If he was just straight up released tomorrow there shouldn't be anyone who thinks "wow, they gave up on him pretty quickly." How this was used as dig at people overreacting is wild.
