  1. Dear Tony, not a single Sox fan wants you to return. Go away

  2. These two posts belong together. This team has been disinterested garbage for the last 200 games with Tony running it. They have barely been .500, and have played disinterested and fundamentally garbage baseball. The jump in energy in the last week is shocking after seeing the previous year and a half. Tony LaRussa has been an unmitigated disaster for the Chicago White Sox. Literally every worst case scenario possible has happened in the last two seasons under his watch.

  3. Why do you feel the need to defend TLR all the time? Let me make this simple for you....he was brought in to bring this team to and win a World Series. The team is at best a .500 club with him in the dugout. He has been an epic failure. He just has and I am perplexed why you do not understand that.

  4. This is exactly why I refused to get excited.

  5. I just keep checking this thread to make sure he isn't coming back anytime soon.

  6. I would be remiss if I didn't mention a very key contribution from Abreu who hustled to beat a DP ball, that was overturned by NY ,which would've ended the inning and then Eloy hit the HR to cut the deficit from 4-0 to 4-2. Without that bit of hustle it's likely the Sox lose. Eloy also went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and was the hitting star of the game with the Sox scoring 9 runs on only 8 hits. No one else had more than 1 hit.

  7. It is astonishing how good Cease is. God damn he deserves to shine in a playoff game.

  8. I wouldn’t give a rats ass and would be stoked that we won another World Series. ?

  9. Burke has been very good his last 7 outings. He doesn't go super deep into games thus far, but the numbers are very encouraging as we move towards the end of the season. Great to see him adapt and thrive after the AA promotion. He's also pitching a great one tonight and has struck out awesome fun Reds prospect Elly Da Le Cruz. Hit 98 MPH on the fastball as well.

  11. Most appropriate scenario seems like Sox win division, TLR returns for playoffs and team does not score a postseason run.

  12. This thread is reminding me of Jimmy Rollins, except we have Romy and Sosa knocking on the door, Mendick on the roster, Colson and Rodriguez right behind them, and Leury under contract. I'm grateful for what Andrus has done so far with the team, but there are many better ways to spend this money.

  13. Andrus is putting up an OPS he hasn't seen since 2017. The WAR he is putting up is at a pace he hasn't seen since 2017. Elvis Andrus hasn't put up a full season bWAR or fWAR of over 2 since 2017 Tim Anderson in his worst year since 2017 is still putting up a fWAR of 2. 2018 to 2022 Elvis has a combined fWAR of 7. Tim Anderson is 16. Can we please stop with the idea that someone a 34 year old Elvis Andrus is a better bet at SS than Tim Anderson? This is the definition of small sample size.

  15. Here's the way I see it. Weird managerial decisions aside, Tony just doesn't have energy. He's at an age here this job is taking such a big fucking toll on him that his doctors have temporarily taken him away from it to run (heart?) tests. Objectively, he should just retire for health reasons, because if doctors tell a 77-year-old man that his job is causing so much stress that it's detrimental to his health, f***, just quit. Since 2020, this team has shown that it feeds off each others' energy. With Tony in there, the energy just isn't there when he's napping in the dugout or leaving pitchers in when they're gassed. Tony may have the best intentions and think he can come back, but this team is playing well cause they look like they're having fun, despite what Mark DeRosa thinks.

  23. Everything with respect to the Chicago White Sox is in significantly worse shape than it was the day Tony was announced manager. He was an awful hire that somehow got even worse. How anyone that has paid attention can defend him is beyond comprehension.

  24. It's too bad that we have a leashed media in the city, because there is a story there. NO ONE in this organization is willing to stand in front of a camera and talk about Tony. It's just bizarre. Though the old saying about saying nothing still saying a lot comes to mind.

  25. Just my personal opinion, but he should care more about me.

  26. If the Sox players can’t stay motivated to win the next four weeks with or without Tony, then screw all of them. Sure he may make stupid mistakes that lead to losses, but if the “mojo” is lost because Grandpa is back, then they’re a mentally weak team that isn’t making the ALCS anyway. Just go win games. Play good baseball for yourselves.

  32. This thread is LOL. This board talks about firing Hahn ... fire yourselves! Listen, I don't condone what Tim Anderson did in his personal life, but like, it's his personal life. I don't know about all of you throwing stones at glass houses, but home life effects work life. It just does. The first few months of this season Tim Anderson was looking like a MVP candidate. Stuff spilled out, his life went into a blender and his play suffered big time. There is zero question that Tim Anderson is this teams SS for the remainder of his contract. Everybody who want to retain Andrus please go pull his baseball savant page and spend time on there. It's not good. Elvis Andrus is in the Josh Harrison/Jonathan Villar/A. Simmons phase of his career. He is going to maybe have 1-2 years left. He is not an answer to a team trying to make a push. He just isn't. And we already have Leury. Also, he's basically Leury.

  34. So, they are into the game, and no longer lifeless now. Weird how removing a corpse as your manager will do that.

  35. I just don't see how we can win the division without Tony in the dugout. Said no Sox fan this century.

  36. I'm guessing this new found energy is somewhat related to the fact that the Sox rotation pitchers have only given up 5 ER in the last 8 games (50.1 IP). The last bad start was Giolito nine games ago. Not sure how Cairo can take credit for that. Anyone can manage with that pitching. Worse case scenario is the rotation keeps this up, everyone declares TLR's absence to be the difference and the Sox don't fix the many holes that were obvious all season. TLR has had a bad year and should have been fired, but I doubt anyone would have had the Sox playing .600 ball all year.

  37. Rick should just not pick up TLR's calls and text back after a few of them with "sorry, been crazy busy." That process should buy at least a couple weeks

  40. Velocity was good, control wasn’t. Otherwise same good and bad as the rest of the year, only working two pitches, moderately effective with each, gets in trouble if someone gets on base because he’s liable to walk someone or groove a ball.

  41. Bummer looked really good after the first couple hitters. Having a little rust is to be expected for a dude that hasn't pitched in the bigs in like 3 months.

  42. Eloy takes a lot of crap for his injuries (some deserved) but he is so valuable to this team.
