Having a good series in Houston would go a long way in getting the bad taste in our mouths about 2022 to go away. If they lose and don't look good, it will be depressing almost immediately.

Romy is seeing the ball so well right now. I don’t care that it was only spring training. He has something like 6 HR in his last 10 games. Hitting is extremely mental, and when you’re swinging a good stick, you want to keep it going.

It's criminal that Romy Gonzalez is the starting RF on Opening Day for a team trying to "contend" and it's not due to any type of injury. I understand why Colas isn't in the lineup, but the lack of depth in the franchise is insane.

This and that; First Sox opening day win since 2018 when they beat the Royals 14-7. Matt Davidson's three home run game. Astros had won a MLB record 10 straight opening day's Nice to see the Sox get the comeback win. 1-11 with RISP brings back bad memories of last year. As did the baserunning blunders. But the pitching both Cease and the bullpen were very good tonight. Overall a very nice win. They won't get swept and that's important.

And Rick Hahn got a coupon book from JR. To be fair if you are a Burger King fan some good deals there.

That is a super small sample size and he wasn’t facing major leaguers. I’m hopeful he’s not a platoon guy, but let’s not act as if he’s a proven LHP masher at this time. There will likely be an adjustment period for him and it’s very reasonable to sit him tonight.

I guarantee you the Sox would owe Leury Garcia $11 million less today than they do if Tony LaRussa was never hired. His return screwed this team up in so many ways. One of the worst hires of all time IMO.

Colas is 24 years old. Dude is oler than Tatis Junior and Andres Gimenez. Let's not be scared and hide him. Bad move already from Grifol and company.

Well gents here we are, we made it, another Opening Day. Hope springs eternal and I sure hope last year was the darkness before the dawn, there is nowhere to go but up. I hope the offseason has treated you all well and we have more celebrating than complaining in 2023 on Soxtalk, Nothing left to do but sit back, relax and strap it down for another season of White Sox Baseball. It's a great two days to take off work and enjoy America's greatest game. Here's to a clean slate, a fresh start, and hopefully a season as great and unexpected as much so as last season was poor and disappointing. In grifol I trust.
