Soxtalk: We hate managers who constantly tinker with the line-up Also Soxtalk: Here are my ideas to tinker with the line-up7 points

Moncada now has just as many doubles this season as he had on July 1st last year.5 points

I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have our “normal” lineup out there so often. It’s fúcking great.5 points

1. This was the equivalent of Kopech's final ST start so there is no need for knee jerk reactions 2. Kopech showed some great stuff early before the rain and had a good looking changeup that got better as the game went on 3. For coming off offseason surgery and a late start to ST, Kopech looks right on track as long as he continues to show improvement 4. At least two of the HR's were good pitches in the called location but SF just put a better swing on it 5. It's start 1 of hopefully 32, Kopech will be just fine and even more so if the velocity comes back to him as the knee gets stronger the further away from surgery he gets4 points

I really love that we have a manager who believes in filling out the card with a fairly regular, consistent lineup.4 points

Love how he continues to play the regulars. Hate that Andrus appears to be a "regular". lol4 points

Can someone start a Moncada Thread Thread so we can keep track of the Moncada Threads? I can never remember if I'm supposed to love him or hate him.4 points

Been hearing about Kopech's potential since he was traded for in 2016. What year is it again?3 points

April 3, 1991 – The White Sox signed former two-sport All-Star Vincent “Bo” Jackson to an incentive-loaded contract, with a $700,000 base salary. Division rival Kansas City had released Jackson two weeks earlier, citing a hip injury suffered playing in the NFL with the Raiders that was likely to end his career in both sports. Jackson would have hip replacement surgery and not make a real impact until 1993, when he hit 16 home runs, but the move was a masterful stroke from a public relations standpoint. “Bo” was the first pro athlete to have the type of surgery he did and come back to play at the highest level. April 3, 2000 - The unexpected Central Divisional Championship season didn’t start off promising. The Sox were buried in Texas 10-4. They’d lose the next day as well 12-8. In the two games the Sox would allow 23 hits and commit five errors. But by the end of the month the Sox set the Major League record for the most runs ever scored in April and ‘‘The Kids Can Play,’’ were on their way to a league leading 95 wins and a post season appearance. April 3, 2021 - After going 5 for 5 in his first game of the year (April 2), Yermín Mercedes started his day against the Angels by going 3 for 3, including his first career homer. His eight straight hits to start a season set a modern record (dating back to at least 1900), besting Chris Stynes’ 7-7 start in 1997. Finally, in the eighth inning of the April 3 game, Mercedes was retired, snapping his incredible start.3 points

I might be wrong...but after a quick look at 2022 lineups, I think we've already surpassed in the opening series the number of games where all five of TA7, Eloy, Yaz, Yo, and Luis started in the entirety of last year. As far as I can tell, this happened exactly twice last year: on 8/4-5, games 105 and 106, vs Texas. And they were both with post-wrist injury Robert, and still not fully healthy Yaz/Yo. TA would suffer his hand injury in game 107, the last of the series. It might actually be impossible to overstate how much injury decimated this squad last year.3 points

Haven’t you heard the Sox have the highest paid bullpen in the league! The leagues best!2 points

Ruiz is our right handed Diekman. Both are only suitable for mop up duties. Bad job by Hahn starting the season with these two losers.2 points

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. i agree that a split in Houston was great. But this bullpen has been lit up in every single game so far2 points

Can anyone please give me any ray of hope for this season? I’m from England and have to watch most games at night (1am uk time). This year already seems like the last. Bullpen is c**p. Terrible with RISP. Starting rotation seems to be the strength. Is there much noise about Reyanaldo Lopez starting again? He fits into the number 5 starting pitcher role. I’d rather see Kopech out of the pen. I don’t think he’s a starting pitcher Just my view from this side of the pond2 points

Big time stinker. Same thing as losing 3-2 tho. Forget about it and go 3-2 rest of the week.2 points

Mets fans also know, if the team shows a glaring weakness, they have the front office to go find a solution. Feel the same way about the Southside of Chicago? What we have, is what we'll have, it has to work.2 points

Kopech seems destined for the bullpen soon. Let him go out there and rip for an inning at max velocity.2 points

It’s crazy is that we’re in the era of starters throwing harder than ever, and then you get a guy with an incredible arm and he’s throwing 91 mph fastballs at times. Today actually looked like the start he had when he blew his elbow out.2 points
-
Yeah but they're just sitting back like they know it's coming. I can't imagine everyone being that confident and taking that good of swings off him.2 points
-
What dominant stuff does he have? And after the knee issues, his stuff deteriorated to this point.2 points
-
Kopech was supposed to be a 99+ fastball pitcher. He's just not that good at 94 - 95.2 points

Difficult to understate what a bad day this was for Kopech, a potential career ender.2 points
-
Kopech dealt with injuries last season but had a 1.19 WHIP. People here are ready to give up on him after 1 start? Let's slow our rolls.2 points

Sox hitters doing nothing but helping a pitcher that looks like he can't hit the strikezone most the time.2 points

Maybe Vaughn said something to DeScalfani about how he's lame for throwing a slider on 3-0?2 points

He made a helluva play to avoid Robert imo. If that's Eloy both guys are probably carted off. Also, on the topic of outfield defense nice play by Colas and it was nice to see Clevinger sing his praises post game. If you're gonna be a douchbag off the field at least be a good team mate in the clubhouse.2 points

Series split @ Houston is nothing but a W. Yoan is hitting and Yaz has a pulse. Clevinger looked good. Cease looked like a Cy candidate and Lucas was solid. Pen and situational hitting needs work, but that’s a start all of us should be pleased with.2 points

Yoan has already amassed 0.5 fWAR in 4 games. Good for third in baseball behind Adam Duvall and Wander Franco at 0.6.2 points

I understand how fans want to win 2 out of 3 before it happens, but hopefully the team doesn’t see it that way. If you have a game today, play it to win and move on to the next day no matter the opponent. Hopefully this team doesn’t talk about “winning series”. Play to win everyday and embrace winning streaks.2 points

For those saying Grifol has "growing pains? using his bullpen, what was he supposed to do? He has to use what he has.2 points
-
Mike Clevinger was, is and will continue to be a piece of s%*# He pitched well today2 points
-
Get the bullpen in order. That might be a tough one until reinforcements arrive. Be more selective at the plate, especially with RISP. Hopefully that comes with time. Otherwise, this was an impressive opening series and looks like a team that can be good.2 points

Let's not forget the other clutch run-saving catch from our second Cuban outfielder, by the way!2 points
