  1. I would say having to DFA a guy 6 games into the season doesn't inspire much confidence in major league scouting (once again). What's hostetlers role again? I forget.
  2. There’s been one season in the past 100+ years in which this team has won a playoff series. I don’t really blame the fanbase for its cynicism.
  3. People desperately need to stop overrating the talent on this team
  4. Not sure if you can DFA the entire pitching staff not named Dylan Cease, but....this is an absolute abomination of an entire major league organization.
  5. LOL Hahn has literally set money on fire as Sox GM.
  6. On the road to Pittsburgh currently. Excited to check out PNC Park for the first time. From what I have heard/seen it is a gorgeous park.
  7. Jeffrey Loria of all owners, paid Ozzie for 3 seasons not to manage. Pretty much all you need to know.
  8. They made a big mistake signing Pedro Grifail instead of Ozzie. We're going to learn that as the season progresses.
  9. People act like the frustrations with the Sox are coming just from a 3-4 start, but its a lot more than that. Its a decade+ of failure bubbling over. We were promised a world series contender by Hahn and instead we got bubkis. ONE postseason win. And lets be honest, even if the Sox somehow made the postseason, this isn't a world series contender. They're not even in the same universe as the contenders. This is the same bad team that we watched last year and the front office made no real effort to improve. Can't blame anyone for feeling negative out of the gate this year. Its a lot more than a 3-4 start.
  10. Even in those bad years, those teams always put it all together for like 20-30 games to become the hottest team in baseball for a couple or three or four weeks. They had that fire for about that long in every season. I always knew it probably wouldn’t last, but man…it felt good while it was going on, and because Ozzie had won, I always thought “well, it might happen again”. And they were always almost karmically unbeatable for that stretch. It was something about Ozzie, and whatever atmosphere he had. There was like a 14-4 stretch in June of ‘09, that ridiculous 26-5 from June to July in 2010 and even in August of ‘11 they put together something like a 15-7 stretch to make a final push before petering out.
  11. I’m a dick for saying this but JR needs to sell or die soon. Then get the team sold post haste, fire everyone from Hahn to the A ball bat boy. Actually, I’d keep Grifol and the new staff just to see what they’ve got. Hire a new GM, scouts, the works. Trade everyone but Robert, Cease and Moncada. Take Cease and and Boris into a room, tell them we’ll give you 5 years here’s a blank contract…fill in the number, any number and it’s yours. I know this is a pipe dream, but it’s hard not to hate being a Sox fan with this regime in charge. Fuuuuuuuuck!
  12. Imagine hitting 4 homers, scoring 9 total runs, and losing. This is like pre-WS 2000s teams that'd score 12 runs and lose 14-12.

What should happen should have happened over 10 years ago. A good baseball man outside the organization should have been hired to evaluate things and make some substantial changes. Instead, we got Hahn and Robin Ventura. Then Tony LaRussa. It's hard to have any faith when things just never change even when they are crying out for change. But no one knows more about baseball than Jerry Reinsdorf. This gets so boring because it has been going on for so long. And it will continue to go on.
  14. Lose velocity while adding no command.
  15. "but come on everyone, it still too early to b**** and moan....."
  16. Gas cans in the starting rotation is also a problem thus far.
  17. Hahn knew Liam would be out a while perhaps at one time the entire season. All he did for the bullpen was pick up a rule 5 guy. How bad do you have to be? He makes GarPax look like HoF execs.
  18. Turns out when you whiff on developing pitchers for like ~4 years there are negative consequences to be felt on that eventually
  19. I love the road greys.
  20. Sometimes we fans need a reminder of how toxic Ozzie was towards the end, especially his kids on twitter.
  21. What if I want column B instead (had to get it in, not sorry)
  22. I don’t really care what money Hahn has set on fire at this point. I care that Grifol can tell him “DFA this guy, cut this guy” and it happens. Quickly. And that seems to be the case.
  23. Then why did he quit to manage the Marlins?
  24. A week ago reasonable people on here were comparing Robert to Felix Pie and Corey Patterson lmao
  25. The gas canniest group of gas cans in history.
  26. Better get Alberto up in the bullpen
  27. That was like half this board.
  28. Think people are going to find out this team just not very good in many areas, not everything was TLR issue.
  29. His range is way worse than I expected at 2nd. It’s going to be a huge issue with no shifting.
  30. This strike zone blows, I feel like we're saying this every single game, anymore.
  31. When McCutchen gets the standing O today, MLB allows more time when teams clear it with the league in advance. They aren’t going to be sticklers all the time, which is good.
  32. Hahn is so bad at his job it's ridiculous.

Think how bad of a GM you must be when during your supposed contention window, your first roster pitching move of the season is bringing up a 29 year old with no major league experience and an ERA of 9.00.
  34. We're a week into the season and the front office is already changing the bullpen. Come the f*** on... this is the work you put in to improve the team during the offseason. Instead he sat on the 2022 bullpen and rode that into spring training. Rick Han is derelict of duty.
  35. it is totally alarming and pathetic. Thank you Rick Hahn! Great job on your rebuild that you started in 2016 and promised us a team that yearly that would contend for a World Series.
  36. Btw guys, to be clear I don’t want Guillen back. I was just reminiscing on those hot stretches where the team seemed like magic even in the bad years.
  37. More flotsam and jetsam. That's part of the White Sox Way!
  38. Dudes like Hostetler are barely putting any work in. Dude likely works 10 to 15 hours a week tops. The results of the last 18 years are proof of that. This kind of stuff happens in organizations where there is no accountability and job performance is secondary to being a "yes Man"
  39. Future most missed Sporcle answer of the 2023 White Sox
  40. Jose Ruiz has been DFA'd. Announcement coming soon.
  41. New day. New game. Let's win so SoxTalk isn't a bunch of miserable fuckheads. ?
  42. So jealous! Have heard nothing but great things.
  43. What is the over under on White Sox pitchers walk, HBP and HR allowed totals this series?
  44. Sunday lineup on a getaway day when it would be nice to take a home series? He reminds me a bit more of Jerry Manuel so far.

“The issue with Rick is he’s got all these guys around him like Jeremy Haber (Author’s Note: Haber is the Assistant General Manager), friends from Michigan or someplace and they aren’t baseball guys. They didn’t play the game and have no real idea of what it takes. D.J. (Author’s Note: Sox broadcaster Darrin Jackson) and others have said the same thing.” “I thought Hahn was prepared to do well, his last few years as assistant G.M. he was out on the road, watching guys, scouting, trusting what he saw. Then when he became G.M. he started getting guys like J.B. Schuck.” “Rick won’t leave in part because his wife doesn’t want to leave the area unless it is for a job in California where she’s from.” "I'll use a political term to describe Rick, he’s a ‘filibusterer.’ When Theo Epstein was running the Cubs everything he said meant something, if you went back to reread what he said you could read between the lines and figure out what he was saying. With Rick you heard what he said but then when you went back and reread his comments you realized he said less than you thought he did when he first spoke.” “In 2016 when the rebuild started I thought he did the right thing and he deserved credit for that. I also thought at the time that giving out those long-term deals was good. No one could have foreseen how those contracts impacted those guys and their effort. But it was clear when Tony LaRussa was hired that Rick really is powerless. I just don’t have a lot of faith that he can get this done. And words matter, when he talked about “Multiple championships” and “Call me after the parade”…if you are going to be arrogant like that you need to deliver and he hasn’t.”

None of this is new. We already know all the answers here. Hahn will not get fired, midseason or otherwise. Ownership does not give a crap.
