You're going off the rails a bit here. No one denies that the Sox hat was popular with reputed gang members, particularly in the 90s. It has expanded well beyond that into a somewhat popular fashion piece of the masses since. I have no idea how any of this is a controversial take.4 points

I once wore a hat in California and it killed me instantly. Also, I once wore an earring in my right ear and it made me gay4 points

Had they not pissed away yesterday's game, a 5 game winning streak would have us all feeling a lot more interested, or at least us fools who can't walk away from this.3 points

I'm an old dude that still plays video games and currently playing a ton of MLB The Show. Saw this thread this morning and thought it was pretty cool. For the uninitiated, The Show will temporarily "supercharge" players in the game to 99 overalls based on recent performances in real life, a group of players from around the country is advocating for Liam to get the supercharge boost upon his return for beating cancer, always neat to see national Sox love. https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/138pjc5/motion_to_supercharge_liam_hendriks_upon_him/?sort=top3 points

God we've had a lot of douchebags over the years. I never minded Youk too much but Swisher was such a prick.3 points

Tyler Flowers has 20 career fWAR. As they often do, the Sox gave up on him too early after basically turning him into a solid player. A once in a lifetime Sox development and they let him go just in time for him to turn in a few near All Star level years.3 points

I think this series sums up where the White Sox are at the moment. If all elements of the team play well, they are a .500 team, or even slightly better, if not they are a bad team. Unfortunately, the players on the current squad are not consistent enough to produce their best or even near their best on a regular basis. One or more element of fielding, batting or pitching seems to go missing in too many games. That was a winnable game last night but the bullpen let us down, again, and the hitting with RISP let us down, again.3 points

If slowly bringing stars back after a sprain was a novel white sox strategy I might agree, but sitting a guy who 1. just got back from a knee sprain 2. in a day game following a night game 3. when you are going to hop on a plane and travel to tomorrow's game after. If it was the middle of a home series, maybe they play him. But this is part of managing a 162 game schedule for every team.3 points

A 2 run HR by Robert and 3 run HR by Andrus power the Sox to a 1 run win 5-4 over the Reds.2 points

Alright. I guess since I'm one of the few delusional enough to think the Sox can still turn this around, I'll give it a go. Apple TV+ subscription is required to watch this one. You can sign up for a 2 month trial for free. Just make sure you cancel before they charge you. http://apple.co/mlbgift Lynn Vs. Greene Lineups:2 points

I was gonna say, deep down we all know every player on this list is a KW guy.2 points

There's no evidence of that. There was a bit of fan delusion under the Hahn honeymoon period where every good move was Hahn and every bad move was KW. In retrospect, it was probably all Hahn since he can't seem to make a good move at all.2 points
-
What is a Hahn player, even? Everyone has their definition for KW Paddy and TLR…but Hahn’s signings typically have the most vague, nebulous identity. Certainly have been almost completely forgettable performance-wise.2 points

Except we are facing their top 3 pitchers (2 of which are legit, Greene and Lodolo) while we have our worst pitching (Lynn and Clev)2 points

I would have given TA a full game off tonight after that piss poor effort yesterday, but I guess that is why I am sure everyone on the team would hate me if I was the manager.2 points

Didn't realize he said that, now I feel even better about leaving a shitty Yelp review on his highly overrated brewpub in Los Gatos, CA.2 points

The thing that gets me about the list is the millions of dollars spent on them. I find it unbelievable that Hahn still has his job. Although I do believe if this season continues to be a disaster Hahn will be gone this off season.2 points

Yesterday was such a buzzkill. 75-55 to win 85 games? No. Not this team. See you in July for the moves.2 points

You're 100 percent correct because it all stems from the following flaws: 1. Sox players are not only extremely impatient and stupid with plate discipline and strategic situational baseball, they are also blatantly selfish and unwilling to attempt the right batting approach at that moment to help the team win. 2. This poor clutch hitting is also magnified when you have a manager and coaching staff that are completely inadequate in their leadership and teaching skills, to get players to "buy in" to the correct AB approach. 3. Furthermore this poor situational hitting is a direct result from our dysfunctional FO that are clearly horrible at scouting, evaluating and selecting the right players for their organization...that will in return, play smart team baseball because they are willing to utilize their smart baseball IQ in order to help the team win. 4. The worst crime which explains #3 above...This FO doesn't have a solid and winning organizational blueprint in how to build a consistent winning team! The Dodgers, Braves, Yankees and Rays just to name a few, absolutely have this detailed outline of a what a winning formula and blueprint looks like. These clubs not only have it in place...but they actually implement and enforce it.2 points

For anyone who doesn't want to waste a click, the SPORTS HATS YOU SHOULD NEVER WEAR IN LOS ANGELES includes THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS Houston Dodgers (while valid, not for this dude's reasoning) Seattle Mariners Texas Rangers Oakland A's (R.I.P) LOS ANGELES ANGELS of Anaheim New York Yankees (quite possibly the most popular hat in the world) Kansas City Royals Philadelphia Phillies Chicago White Sox Chicago Bulls (Jerry appreciates his teams together) Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins (previous cap) Florida Marlins (specifically not Miami) UNC Boston Red Sox San Francisco Giants St. Louis Cardinals Michigan Wolverines Pittsburgh Pirates2 points

This quote confirms what many of us have thought for years. Winning another World Series is not important to Reinsdorf. And I get sick of him telling fans what they think and how they feel when he has no clue of either.2 points

The second most frustrating part of this is that Rick Hahn will make a shocked Pikachu face at the end of the season about Andrus's struggles and claim there was no way to know that he would struggle after his 2022 performance. The most frustrating part of this is that after he does that, he won't be fired on the spot.2 points
-
Grifol can only play the players he is given. At this stage, the team does not have a healthy legitimate starting 2B, 3B or RF. They have three DHs they play as starters (Sheets, Eloy, Vaughn). Hahn cannot construct a proper ML Roster, and cannot allocate payroll properly. That is the issue. The past four managers could do little more than play whack-a-mole covering the holes that never, ever, ever get filled in the offseason.2 points

I saw a bunch of hats when I was in Barcelona last summer. Don't think they were gang members. Even gave one guy a Go Sox, and he had no idea what I was talking about.1 point

Don’t have to be a rocket scientist to notice that TA always try to pull the ball with RISP and go to the right side with no one on. Should be the other way around.1 point

Our hitting coach had to coach Tim before his costly at bat to not pull the ball and go to the right side , and to wait for the right pitch if possible. Everybody in that disastrous inning that cost us the game showed no patience and swung at the first pitch.1 point

Held up by the same dumbass coach who sent Grandal the night before. They just can't get out of their own way from all departments on this team.1 point

As someone that lives in Brooklyn and sees as much Sox gear as I do the Mets, it's because the Sox brand is closely tied to hip hop due to Eazy-E rocking the hat in the '90s and Chance the Rapper more recently. I think Chance changed it after the Sox declined to make him a paid ambassador, which sucks because his custom hats with the team were gorgeous.1 point

He was a stupid signing for anything more than a backup guy to play twice a week.1 point

Yes. He is no longer injured, so play him. Why is Elvis immune to any days off whatsoever while we sit guys like Anderson and Robert capriciously?1 point
