The Giants signed Matt Chapman and will forfeit their 2nd rounder. That means the White Sox comp pick moves up to #68.7 points

After the treatment of Frank Thomas, Sox fans should realize they're not going to get the benefit of the doubt when criticizing black players, especially when those criticisms include "gangsta" and thug. You would think a fanbase associated with Bridgeport would be more aware of this. Apparently TA cheated on his wife or something. I suppose that's unique among professional athletes and he should face the ire of people who have nothing to do with his personal relationships.4 points

It's the least ownership deserves. The fact that anyone cares is a miracle. It's like getting into a cab and the cab drive throws it into reverse.3 points

No one used the term “thug” in this thread and the original poster said “quasi gangsta fist thing” that players did. Players, as in plural. Multiple players, not just Anderson. No one in this thread called Anderson a thug or a gangsta, but keep trying to create some sort of racist controversy where there is none. Anderson would still be in a Sox uniform if he didn’t suck so historically bad last year. And it’s far more likely that he sucked due to his messed up personal life than racist comments from fans.3 points

Sox played a B game against the NC Dinos (KBO) on the backfields today, which is Fedde's old team.3 points

Lopez just said that obviously baseball is a game of failure and you aren’t going to get a hit every at bat but he has a great glove, always gives his best effort, and has those mysterious intangibles to improve the team’s culture. Even he knows he can’t hit.3 points

The sad fact is that Tim Anderson could’ve “changed the game” and been the next superhero for young African American kids everywhere to want to play baseball over basketball and football, but he decided that extracurricular activities outside of his wife and family were just as important as his performance in his baseball season. Bad decision. From the Field of Dreams game against the Yankees when he was at his zenith of being a star to absolutely sucking last season before he hit free agency because he was too busy worrying about his Instagram side piece… Now he’s an afterthought of a player who has to sign with the lowly Marlins for almost the same money as 37 year old Martin Maldonado. What a pathetic and embarrassing fall from grace. Any comparison of Anderson to Jackie Robinson has proven to be short-sighted and completely off-base. The guy will be forgotten in baseball history in ten years.3 points

Cease started well with 3 scoreless Ks through 2 innings. Turned the radio broadcast on traveling between breweries on this gorgeous Chicago day. Tomorrow we start Daylight Savings Time, so label your game threads accordingly.2 points

I don’t see an issue with him knowing his limitations and doing what he can to contribute in other ways. If he didn’t, he’d probably be out of baseball. he’s not a first division regular, but he’s a definite major leaguer, which is more than can be said for a few guys we’ll be rostering.2 points

They play a certain way and that train is leaving the station. Either you're on it or you arent.2 points

The big difference is that Wendy’s is upselling for the exact same product. There’s a massive difference between a team like the Royals and a team like Yankees coming into the home park.2 points

I’m not. They did nothing and somehow had a better offseason.2 points

Same approach the Sox are taking - we're letting our veterans walk. The difference is that the Sox are replacing them with more decrepit veterans.2 points

West Coast White Sox. They've got a projected 85 wins and are making win now trades for relievers with injury concerns in order to perhaps squeak into a wild card. Thank god we found a team as dumb as we are to make a deal with.2 points

The problem is that if Montgomery hits .111 or .200 at this level, he is likely going to develop bad habits that will ruin his growth for the long term. Give the kid time to actually develop in the minors (sounds like it won't take long), and let guys like DeJong struggle and be themselves. You won't do harm to the kid who actually matters to the long term success of the team.1 point

Failed slogans from the ticket office's offseason brainstorming session: The 2024 White Sox: Some of the players are definite big leaguers. The 2024 White Sox: Not a threat, but we're stacked with guys from Chicago, the right parts too. The 2024 White Sox: We know our limitations.1 point

Sox are talking too much about culture. Who cares if the team had a bunch of bad-chemistry guys last year? Nobody seemed to care that we let Abreu go and he was Mr. Culture. Like somebody said here: Sox get no-hit Maldonado partly for culture and he loafed running out a grounder in Game One. You can't make this stuff up. ... This team culture stuff is stupid. You win big and ballplayers will be alert and pay attention. Once the losses start piling up, who cares if Maldo has a team meeting. Who cares if Lopez and his .190 average turns over the food table or breaks a helmet? Geez. Just.Win.Baby1 point

Literally can't wait until he's fired. Sox will make some type of excuse for letting him go once again trying to shield their incompetence.1 point

I'd take Massey, the pride of Brother Rice. But not Nape's Nicky. Nicky is no good IMO. Massey has potential.1 point

It's not about what the roster is on opening day it's about what the roster will be on August 1. You can check out until then.1 point

Last season, I checked out after May. This season I may very well check out after April. How depressing.1 point

It's early, I know. But man, looking at this potential roster leaves me asking myself, will we break 100 HRs as a team this year? I understand the focus in "catching the ball", and in fact it's a great mask to use when trying to be cheap about constructing a roster. But baseball is about hitting HRs, and lots of them. It's hard to win without them.1 point

I am hoping the Bears end up with my guy Braden Fiske. Awesome to see this kid destroy the combine. He's from my hometown high school and I know him.1 point

Boy do I get the Brecht appeal, but I don't think I would have the balls to pop him at 5th overall. That slider though.1 point

Well, biggest thing I’m hoping for this year is announcement of a new stadium. That would be the best outcome for anything that could happen this year.1 point
