  1. Burke vs. Jobe Many (most?) seem to have thrown in the towel, but we still hold a playoff spot with 8 games to go. Call it optimism or delusion, but I still believe. Put the pedal to the metal and lets grab the division back and the 2 seed. It's go time! Looks to be a wet one, but i'd imagine they are going to do everything they can do get this one in.
  2. Vargas is definitely this team’s MVP this year right?
  3. It’s baseball. Anything can happen. It might be delusional but it’s possible. I choose hope over defeat when mathematically it’s far from over.
  4. Just kidding yes it is.
  5. We never had the horses for a marathon that is a 162 game season. The offense still is the top scoring offense in the AL, though most of the damage was done pre All Star break, they've been pretty bad recently, scoring a bunch of runs here and there and not scoring enough way too many times. Hitting with RISP has been abysmal too. Mune fell off a cliff, along with Kolson and Braden, the bullpen started shaky but became a strength up until a month ago when it started to show wear and tear from over usage which comes back to my first point, and baseball pundits were saying it pre ASB, the starters would need to go deeper into games to spell their BP arms, they never did because our starting rotation is ass and Getz tradeline acquisitions were complete and utter trash and apparently no relief from the farm system. What started as a feel good story, first franchise to have two straight 100 plus loss seasons and comes back to win their division now seems unlikely and the takeaway will be the late season collapse, due to the fact we have no starting pitching, we were never gonna actually compete for a title though, not with these hacks we have as starters. Just for comparison sake, take any one of our four 2005 postseason starters, Contreras, MB, Garland or Freddie Garcia and stick him in our current starting rotation and that one pitcher would be our ace, easily...also not having a true closer is screwing us rn. This is mostly on Getz though, Will isn't a good in game manager but to be fair, not a whole lotta options to pick from from our pitchers.
  6. Nice work by Schultz. And he also seems to have his velocity back (98MPH at times), which bodes well. His development has been reasonable: struggled some his first year up. Should be right in the rotation next year.
  7. Huge props to this team today. As devastated as we all were last night imagine how they felt.
  8. Vargas just took it upon himself to win this one....like Mune on Thursday
  9. I'd like to apologize to anyone near 95th and Kedzie who were scared by the crazy man yelling at his radio when the Tigers tied it at 1....it won't happen again...I usually don't drive on 95th.
  10. I think the Sox basically stole both the wins in this series but I won't complain. They've had some stolen from them lately.
  11. Colson needs to concentrate on hitting the ball to left until he gets his timing back. He’s either way in front and pulls it foul, or they back foot breaking ball him and he corkscrews himself into the ground. Oh, and he looks at fastballs right down the middle every at bat.
  12. I like Ant, but I look forward to getting an actual OFer in LF in the future.

Disagree. The Castillo is one of the worst trades I have ever seen on paper in my 42 years on this planet. Made no sense at the time and it might cost us a playoff spot. Doing nothing would have been better than adding him. I have been a staunch Getz defender all season, but last night was my breaking point. Watching a team in desperate need of SP wither & die after an early 8-2 lead while Castillo was nowhere to be found was the nail in the coffin. There is no question he failed this team at the deadline and has weakened them going into 2027. I’m glad he held onto Bonemer and didn’t go “all in”, but I can’t otherwise comprehend his set of moves. Thinking you can fix broken players mid season while in the middle of a playoff push reeks of arrogance or stupidity. Just too hard for me to ignore how mind boggling the Castillo & Doyle moves were.
  14. Maybe me no longer believing will reverse this.
  15. Our Chuck and Ozzie are raving over Vargas performance IN THE POST GAME SHOW.. Clear cut MVP by far. Ozzie says that Vargas performance is MVP like not only with Sox but in MLB as a whole, and that VARGAS is excelling in all phases of the game. I think Miggy is becoming a Five Tool player IMO.
  16. Huge win. Need the Guardians, Rangers, & Astros to lose now.
  17. Good move knowing you would be horrible behind the plate today.
  18. Big win. Thank you Burke, Vargas, Schultz and Taylor. 79 wins.
  19. Davis Martin's turn tomorrow. Taking 3 of 4 in this series would be a huge boost.
  20. Great crowd for a changed time of game.
  21. Me thinks they’re pissed about Tuesday
  22. Can we get a 1-2-3 9th? No baserunners PLEASE.
  23. I agree. I dont like bringing in Taylor here. Over managing.
  24. Good. Call the game!
  25. Remember when we had too many catchers? That was great.
  26. He's a 5 tool player
  27. Why are the Sox dealing with so much stupid ass ump bullshit recently
  28. Because Wil found some stat where braden his 5 points higher on a game moved up for weather, when there is a harvest moon is coming in the next 3 weeks . Advanced analytics..
  29. You probably could have stopped there. 🤣
  30. Nobody else? Our farm system is that weak? Maybe Irquidy could have eaten some innings yesterday without blowing the lead. Oh wait, never mind.

Accepting the Sox collapse as tolerable, just because we came into the season with low expectations, is faulty thinking. Situations change and expectations change. The fact of the matter is, we had a lead in the division at the trade deadline, in a winnable division and made no moves to help us out, despite warnings from everywhere that we needed dependable pitching depth in both the rotation and pen. The starters who got us thru the first half were already at their historic innings limits. We are now experiencing exactly what was warned about. The reasoning was very similar to what we heard from the last regime during the last rebuild….dont mortgage the future, for today, in the hopes of a prolonged run of success. Well, opportunities for this franchise do not come often and nothing is guaranteed. Show me the sustained success from the last rebuild. I’m not saying to go all in, as I don’t think we were built to win a championship this year, but we should have made a better effort to at least address the concerns on this team and improve our chances to win the division and get this young team some playoff experience. Now it looks like the experience they walk away with is a complete collapse and depressing off-season.
  32. The former mayor is against huge private investments in the city because billionaires will benefit from it and because of NIMBY outrage against building a facility on an existing railyard. It is no wonder this city saw an exodus of businesses under her watch and no wonder she didn't even make it to the runoff in her reelection bid.
  33. Keep fighting, guys.

You're correct about this. I've praised Getz and other front office members for things that were good and I've always criticized them for things I think are bad. Saying people deserve to be fired over this is insane though. I never said anything about not being able to critique them. Which tweet? I don't generally delete tweets. I've never been one to hide from my bad takes on publicly available forums.
  35. It's funny, they are now playing like many of us expected them to play the entirw season.
  36. Just a devastating loss, the Sox have come back all year but when your starters can’t get to the 5th inning with a bullpen that is cooked this could be the season.
  37. Spoken like a true Sox fan.
  38. Still believe. Go Sox!
  39. Excellent post, right on the money.
  40. A dream season with a nightmare ending.
  41. Some posters mentioned it, is Castillo so awful that you can't even rely on him to get you 3 or 4 innings and not give up 6 runs after the Sox were up 8-2? At the very least, give the BP a break, can't even be an innings eater at this point? Such an indictment on Getz, made the team worse with his tradeline "additions".
  42. Yeah the season is over
  43. I was telling my kids something this as we drove home from the game and I was ridiculing Getz & Venable. Feels like instead of burning your entire tired bullpen in one game, you could have used your main trade deadline addition to get you five innings. But nope, he’s so bad he wasn’t even an option tonight to protect a depleted bullpen.
  44. one thing I do find at least slightly pleasing is how much criticism Getz is getting and will continue to get after the season ends for building one of the worst pitching staff in years, and also throwing 10s of millions of dollars at bad players who actively made your team worse
  45. The public meeting got a lot of coverage in the local news, but I don't see how that changes Amtrak's ability to move forward on this project. It's all on railroad property, impacts will be less than when it operated as a freight yard, and they don't need city approval. I know the loudest opponents get the most attention, but I bet more people in Chicago than not are in favor of improved Amtrak service thanks to a huge federal grant, a privately-financed new Sox ballpark, and a new Northwestern Medical campus.
  46. When elephants fight, it's the grass that gets trampled. or as Thucydides’ said "The strong do what they can and the weaker suffer what they must." Millionaires fighting with billionaires and the people who will lose the most, the fans, will passionately take sides, instead of banding together to tell both sides to f*** off.
