  1. Clearly someone wasn’t a Sox fan back in 2008. The original blackout game was incredible and brought an energy unparalleled to anything I have ever witnessed in person. You have already declared defeat so not surprising you are trashing an actually awesome thing.
  2. He has a point. He's overstepping his bounds buying things with his own damn money. He needs to hold the taxpayers hostage, take their funds, delay any building for years, then have the state build them a field that they will say doesn't meet their needs 10 years later.
  3. Who knows. Honestly this series is the World Series to me. Beat Cleveland, make the ALCS. After that, I won't be hurt by any result.
  4. Yeah, it's not like he is putting a train yard where historically a train yard existed
  5. Dude, our pitchers are all burnt out. It doesn't matter who the f*** is managing them. I call Venable out all the time, but this is on Getz for getting no pitching help during the deadline.
  6. I'm about to drunkenly by a Fedde jersey
  7. Grichuk is the reason its only 2 runs, what a terrible 'professional' AB.
  8. I think most people associated as Sox fans appreciate this as a once in a generational chance to grow the fanbase, which has been sorely lacking for decades now.
  9. I was trying to decide the magic person to start the game 4 thread, and couldn't help but remembering the best Game Thread starter in Soxtalk history @Heads22 . Obviously he would be the man to step in here and bring us home, so I will do the next best thing and start this thread is his honor. Wherever you are buddy, this one is for you!
  10. Could've seen this a mile away. So stupid starting Kay this inning and bringing in an absolutely gassed Taylor for what, r innings?? And screw Getz for this garbage pitching staff.
  11. "Down 1 run in the top 5th games over" I'll be nicer tonight and just ignore this bullshit doom posting
  12. God this board hates this team huh. Sack up losers
  13. I'll tell her to strap it on if we win tonight!
  14. Should have just gone with Hagen to start the 3rd
  15. If Beni wasn't swinging at curve balls in the dirt we could have had 3 cracks to tie the game. 😒
  16. Yea get that god awful bullshit out of here
  17. Whatever happens this series, absolutely blown away how disciplined and ready for this Vargas is. He is gonna be our captain for a decade plus.
  18. Cut down the walks and stop swinging at bullshit and you win.
  19. This stadium has been a great problem from the beginning. It was built in a location that isn't popular and secondly they built an upper deck (which originally was 45% of the seats in the stadium) which everybody has hated from the start.
  20. Maybe it's cause I was liking all of them but consensus on twitter seemed to be it's dumb
  21. Theres another bad tradition that needs to end
  22. Yes, it's a HUGE difference. First of all, getting swept by a better team isn't choking, while blowing a 2-0 series lead with 2 home games ahead of you is. Second, since the ALCS began in 1969, the White Sox have only appeared in it three times. THREE TIMES IN 57 YEARS (thanks, Jerry, since you've owned this team for 45 of those years). They have to be near the bottom in MLB in LCS appearances. Which teams have had fewer appearances? Maybe the Rockies? Marlins? Not exactly impressive to only beat out those two. So yeah, if they can make the the ALCS for the 4th time in 57 seasons and then getting swept by a 98-win team, that is immensely better than choking away the ALDS to the same team that they choked away the division title.
  23. We beat the Guardians in the head to head series in the regular season. We have an incredibly favorable schedule that helps us overcome some of the pitching disadvantages we face. We entered game #3 with one win needed to wrap up the series with two consecutive home games. The crowd and energy level of our fanbase is insane. The pressure should be on Cleveland. No idea why people are suddenly trying to down play expectations for the rest of this series. I am not optimistic about our chances against the Rays, but the Guardians are a team we can and should beat. There are no excuses at this point. Last night was brutal but not reflective of who this team is. The Sox need to play confident and smart tonight and get the job done. The fans need to make Cleveland press at every high leverage opportunity. I will be there tonight doing my part. I am confident so will Will’s boys.
  24. Bold of you to assume he isn't operating with Jerry's full endorsement, cooperation, and advice since Jerry was a complete failure at new stadium #3. Honestly, this might well be Jerry's plan, and he was just too capital poor to get it done. And by bold, I mean totally ignorant of reality.
  25. I know that no one expected the Sox to be where they are, and I am truly happy that they have had such a great season. But, damn, I need them to beat Cleveland...tonight. If the series goes back to Cleveland, the Guardians will have all the momentum. Beat them tonight, then go to Tampa and play your asses off. Let what happens happen.
  26. LETS FUCKING GO WHITE SOX!!!!!! CLOSE IT OUT!!!!!!
  27. Guys and gals and otherwise, might I suggest treating tray’s posts as satire? It keeps the conversation moving forward, the vibes lighter and friendlier, and it’s also just funny.
  28. I don't think I could handle a tie game going into the 9th or extras. I'm hoping for a comfortable 4-5 run lead and a relatively stress-free 9th.
  29. It was bound to happen having like 2 and a half starters. Win today, celebrate and get a few days off. Don't want this going back to Cleveland
  30. Let’s face it, for various reasons the Sox have never been a huge draw at 35th and Shields though I’ve never had a problem with the location. The franchise is one of the few that has never drawn 3 million fans for a season though they came very close in 1991 and 2006. It’s time to look for greener pastures.
  31. There's a lot of bizarre gatekeeping going on over the course of this thread. Who qualifies as a real Sox fan? Someone who is South Side enough? Does that mean only people who live south of Cermak? Who should be the owner of the Sox after Jerry is gone? Certainly not a billionaire who wants to invest heavily on this team because that makes him arrogant. Sure, people can honestly say that they like the current park and want the Sox to stay there (or at least at the site). But, from a business perspective, it shouldn't shock anyone that both Reinsdorf and Ishbia believe that the team has a higher ceiling and better ability to compete as a big market team at a South Loop ballpark. Just look at the economics around of teams around the league and why teams want stadium districts/downtown-adjacent ballparks instead of ballparks with acres of surface lots. It would be very interesting to see some sort of survey of what most Sox fans/Chicagoland residents think of the South Loop proposal if the stadium is privately financed. I bet most people are generally in favor of the idea. Perhaps a better question would be "Would you be more likely or less likely (or no difference) to attend Sox games if they built a stadium in the South Loop."
  32. I don't know why but I have this feeling we walk it off tonight
  33. 0-2 during day games 2-0 during night games
  34. I was today years old when I learned that anything short of two consecutive playoff sweeps -- for a team full of babies fresh off a 100-loss season -- is shocking and unacceptable for some fans, and reason enough for them to spew raw cortisol all over their keyboards.
  35. Keys to the game: - Sox hitters have to get back to being patient. I don't know what that was yesterday, but there was clearly no legitimate, offensive approach in place outside of "be aggressive", whereas games 1 and 2 there was a completely different gameplan set upon patience and taking what they give you. - Will (FO?) cannot manage with game 5 in mind. This is game 5, or at least that's the way it should be managed. If you need Taylor for 3 innings tonight, you do it. If you need to have at least one reliever each inning getting up to keep warm in case danger strikes quickly, do it. -Throw fucking strikes
  36. Absolutely not - this is a highly flawed team and while it would stink if they lose, the reality is they have been max efforting everything possible but when you lack certain horses it just gets hard. With that said - lets go win this series and move onto the next round and keep on rolling!!!
  37. Shallow perspective on my part here, but... winning the ALDS means at least 4 more games to look forward to, regardless of how it all turns out!
  38. It's different in two respects in my opinion. Tampa won 98 games this year they are far superior to Cleveland. and... The Sox will have lost a 2-0 lead in a best of five and joined the ranks of teams like the 82 Angels, 84 Cubs, and the 86 Angels and 86 Red Sox who simply could not get that last strike, last out last series clinching win. That's a tough pill to swallow.
  39. I think that is his small man's word for "I am not getting my way and I am really mad and want to make everyone else suffer until I get my way."
  40. Am I missing something here???? When did Ishbia turn into Thomas the Tank Engine. He has nothing to do with the train yards next move. He wants their south loop land if that means the Amtrak moves to Bridgeport, that is not his decision.
  41. https://www.nbcchicago.com/chicago-sports-bears-sox-cubs-bulls-blackhawks/bridgeport-students-gifted-tickets-to-see-white-sox-in-game-3-of-alds/3999272/ Ishbia's proposed hostile takeover of neighborhoods in and around Bridgeport and Armour Park is arrogant and shortsighted. He does not know anything about the South side. There have been millions of dollars invested in this area over decades. This guy has to be stopped.
  42. Merkin hyping it as a big surprise secret name is what made this all so bad. I feel bad for Mr Belmont castlevania getting caught in Merkins crossfire
  43. Had this conversation with buddy in the 9th inning today. Expectations change quickly. It’s already amazing what they’ve done and where they’ve gotten, but after going up 2-0 against Cleveland, I’ll be incredibly pissed if they lose this series. If we get absolutely throttled by the Rays in the ALCS…fine, we made the fucking ALCS after enduring the last three years. That’s all to say…just fucking win tomorrow.
  44. I just got too negative after that horseshit at bat in the 1st inning from Meidroth....I'm gonna step away from Gamethreads until the ALCS and just observe. One thing before I go.....I hate to pick on one hitter but Mune has got to be better, he just has to be.
  45. Fedde Hicks Taylor This was supposed to be Luis Castillo's start two months ago. Meanwhile, Adell and Griffin both made key contributions. The White Sox might still get past CLE, but a team with 1 1/2 starters just doesn't stack up against the remaining playoff teams. Maybe SD...but they at least have Pivetta and Buehler/Ray. NYY Rays Dodgers Braves Brewers...no way Jose. Not Venable's fault. A lot of this was smoke and mirrors with a flawed roster...to win four consecutive road playoff games when they’d only won five TOTAL playoff games from 1960-2025 (with the obvious exception of 2005)??? Pretty remarkable to pull even that off, but also quite fortunate it was Houston and CLE. The limitations of this roster approach were just exposed, though. That they'd hardly hit any minefields with pen and openers was kind of miraculous in the first place.
