Eaton needs to be on the bench when we get some reinforcements in the outfield, Mercedes needs to make adjustments or go to AAA, Vaughn needs more time, and Garcia is a good backup but thats his limitation. We all know this though, but the numbers are just puke worthy from these guys. Its a miracle we are where we are.

So people not being available means Leury needs to bat third with when other players in the lineup could bat third? I get that this is a schtick from you, but it's really getting out of hand and your showing your cards too much. No one would actually argue it's OK for Leury Garcia to bat third in this lineup.

You all realize that Leury is putting up a .730 OPS over his last 30 days with a .276 avg & .375 OBP all while being a pretty solid defender over multiple positions. He also has .5 WAR thus far - which given how bad his April was - is pretty impressive. He is pretty much back to being exactly who he has been most of his career with the Sox (which is a pretty darn serviceable utility guy who ends up getting quite a bit of ab's due to his versatility). IN this case - probably more than anyone would like given how many injuries happened.

The Sox window 2021-2024 IMO as the core becomes more expensive or is leaving in 2024. There isnt a single minor leaguer at this point that I wouldn't be okay trading if it made sense for the big league club. None of the minor leaguers are, at this point, top 100 guys. Jose Rodriguez is probably the best Sox prospect at this point (beyond the Cubans and maybe Kelley), and he isnt untouchable. The Sox have two Cy young candidates entering free-agency next year, making this year a good year to push some more chips in. Until we see the Sox play some more quality competition, I think we wont fully understand what their needs are until they play teams that are better than DET, BAL, KC, etc.. If they run through Tampa Bay and the Astros, then maybe you're right and there is no reason to mortgage any part of the future. But I worry that at some point, theyre going to need another impact bat and another impact arm in the pen as insurance for a Crotchet injury or having to use Kopech as an opener due to injuries. After the deadline the Sox have a run of 3 @ CHC, 3 @MIN, 3 v NYY, 3 v OAK, 3 @TB, 4 @ TOR, and 3 v CHC. I'd rather be over-prepared for the test than under prepared.The Sox are by far the best team in the AL Central and personally, I think they'll run away with it. I'm more worried about an ALCS against NYY where they made some big moves at the deadline. That gives them time to fully assess what they need and how badly they need it. Winning a World Series is incredibly difficult and may require some sacrifice in the long term. I always go back to my Cubs, but there isnt a Cub fan out there that regrets Gleyber for Chapman. The Cubs had a glaring need at the deadline and made a deal that put them over the edge. Quintana for Cease + Eloy or even Wade Davis for Soler were different. Those trades were anticipatory and ended up backfiring. The Dunning for Lynn trade was largely panned here as paying too much for a rental, but look at how its panning out. The Sox realized in 2020 that they needed top of the rotation pitching to win in the playoffs, and they struck gold. Anything the Sox can do to win in 2021-2024 should be on the table. If the Sox arent going to trade Kade Mclure or Jake frickin Burger to make them even stronger for the playoffs, then they should just trade Rodon and Lynn for a king's ransom and get back a couple of high school juniors like the Cubs did for Yu. Hahn has done a great job of turning Eaton, Quintana, Sale, and years of good draft picks into Giolito, Moncada, Kopech, Lynn, Vaughn, Eloy, Cease, Rodon, TA, Madrigal, etc. Give him the keys to put them over the top. Just my opinion

Slicing towards the LF corner, AV did his best but it was a tough play. A faster LF might have gotten there but it wasn’t like AV misread the play. And as others have said it took a tough decision on how long to stay with Rodon off the table.

I'll never understand why some fans don't see that winning at a *greater rate than your competitors* against bad teams, or against middling teams, is as good an indicator of your team quality as any.

I like watching the Sox beat up on inferior teams like the Tigers, but I would love to see the Sox turn in three solid showings against a quality team like the Rays. Don’t need to win them all, though that would be preferable; just play smart and keep ‘em close.

I checked BP, and man, they seem to be sticking hard to their preseason projections. Sox only 49.5% to win the division, and Twins still at 7.5%.

It is so great to see Rodon doing this. He always had the talent; he just couldn't stay healthy. This is a Cy Young type of year if he can stay healthy.

Marte typically hits 20 HRs in a full season and has a career .344 OBP. That’s a huge upgrade over the mess that is RF at the moment.

Escobar and Marte are both rentals. Definitely can be attainable.

Just to expand on this, imagine this lineup: Anderson, SS Robert, CF Moncada, 3B# Abreu, 1B Jimenez, R Grandal, C# Marte, RF Vaughn, LF Escobar, 2B#

RH RP and 2B are guarantees. If they can find an Eaton replacement in those moves too, that will get done.

I don't want to sound like an alarmist but I think I have to. This appears to be the year in which the Sox have to try to win the World Series. The starting pitching will never be as good or as cheap as it is now. Escobar and Iglesias (Angels RP) would be huge gets and the Sox should do whatever they have to do to get them or the equivalent. Escobar may not have the on base skills of some on the team but he would easily be leading the Sox in HR's. Getting him should be a no brainer. Switch hitting power guy who can play 2nd, 3rd and SS in a pinch and a free agent after the year. He's a rental which is perfect. The season is basically over for Madrigal. Sorry Danny I love ya but the Sox have needs to fill and you don't fit the bill . The need for LH power to upgrade the Sox record against RHSP is a true necessity as is relief pitching. Do whatever you must to upgrade. The future is now.
