I almost wonder if Rick saw Eaton batting leadoff yesterday and said nope fuck this, we ain't doing that anymore.11 points

Wow. I'm shocked. Who could have ever seen this move not working out. No one I say. No one.7 points

Sox should just iL Abreu, Anderson, Moncada the minute any backup player has a hit in a game and hold them there forever.5 points

For those of you that aren't aware of him, Shane Riordan is a producer at 670 The Score.4 points

Thread makes it seem like peoples main criticisms of TLR are about tactics. I would disagree.4 points

La Russa has done a masterful job getting the most out of this hodge podge roster. I don't think anybody can argue that. He used his bench early and often and it turned out to be a genius move once all the injuries hit. I do feel that he helped instill a "every man will be needed" mentality early by playing the backups and turns out every man (perhaps literally) will be needed.4 points

That's the nice thing. The Sox don't have to do that. Escobar is available. Others may become available. Worst case scenario Leury Garcia mans 2nd and you get great defense and maybe even good offense. There are options A, B, C, and D before you get to something like putting Burger or Moncada at 2B. Stop treating option E like it's option A.3 points

This post from the Twins' reddit board has become a meme on the overall baseball reddit and it feels like it needs to come here in lieu of looking at that stat. This was posted on April 5. Lmao.3 points

First post and I'm an English White Sox fan, been a White Sox fan since I saw them live when my family visited Chicago in the early 80's, it was hard following them in those days as baseball wasn't reported much in the UK, but now thanks to the wonders of the internet I can stream games live. So please be nice! Why if Eaton was going to be DFA'd today and he has been so poor at the plate, why was he lead off hitter yesterday?3 points

Although most of us knew it was right move, it's surprising the Sox did it. Whether a trade is coming or not, Eaton had no place on this team. Thanks for the first few weeks and the big 2-run HR in that extra inning game.3 points

The FO made a reasonable decision to acquire Eaton and a reasonable decision to cut him loose IMO. Seems to me they are being proactive far more than in prior years.3 points

Tony is exactly why I am shocked Eaton got let go. Those two were made for each other.3 points

That’s an awful long post to explain why something is not worth discussing. I challenge you to come up with an even longer post about how it’s not worth discussing why its not worth discussing.. No word gobbledygook to fill up space though. I need a series of cogent and concise statements supporting the argument. If you choose to fulfill this task I will accept your challenge and provide said statistical analysis of this unworthy topic.3 points

Lol. Relax dude. Goodwin sucks balls at the OF. The eyes say it. The stats say it. Not sure why that seemingly offends you.3 points

no, we need to keep beating the shit teams and get healthy for the good ones come playoff time.2 points

Reinsdorf had nothing to do with this move. He will have something to do with a move that takes on a substantial contract. Eaton is a sunk cost. Cutting him proves nothing in regard to fiscal thinking for the White Sox organization. The bottom line of the White Sox has not changed by this move.2 points

Check out TLR’s comments when Eaton came off the IL. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailyherald.com/amp-article/20210702/sports/210709837/2 points

Nothing is a tad aggressive. He did give us Gio, and Lynn. As for his 2021, that's a fair assessment. I am not Eaton guy at this point, but with how thin we are in the OF right now and will continue to be for some time, I am surprised at the move. Could have just optioned Burger who doesn't appear to have a role on this team (as per how TLR is using him - not that I necessarily agree with it) except as a weak side platoon DH and pinch hitter.2 points

At this point Goodwin is the superior player, so it makes sense to keep him over Spanky.2 points

How can you not like Avi? He hit some BOMBS while on the Sox. I'm not sure what the stats say, but he was just a good hitter. Me.likey.Avi.2 points

There are actually managers out there aware of the fact there is such a thing as reverse splits. Acting like it’s not a flaw is pure denial2 points

No way. Not with this pitching staff and the likely return of numerous key members of the lineup. Pick up a bat; Sox just need to stay afloat in the mean time. Doesn’t matter if the Sox win 86 games or 96 it’s still possible they could have the best team in October. 98 win pace at half way point with decimated lineup while team could still be better than that team two months from now. The one thing TLR is good at is the long game. Take a step back from the ledge man This team could be hotter than shit six weeks from now2 points

At this point, I'd just extend Lynn and try again next year.2 points

He isn't needed. You can find a lot of players to fill the roll in RF with a BA of .200 and OBP of .299. He either strikes out or hits weak groundball outs in clutch situations. I would much rather have Goodwin or Sheets in RF.2 points
