  1. This is truly the funniest thing I've ever read, I laughed so hard my wife asked if I was ok 2 floors from me: https://theathletic.com/3772405/2022/11/10/aaron-judge-free-agency-teams-ranking/ let the gifs fly

  2. I'd love to be able to be paid to be that stoned.

  3. What were the Giants thinking?? He might accept and then they'll be stuck with an ace on 1 year deal.

  4. Bowden wakes up tomorrow, hungover and moans "I'm never drinking with Larussa again"

  5. That's embarrassing The Athletic pays him to write these words.

  7. I love people taking 100% obvious moves and passing them off as insider information.

  8. The albert belle contract had to have happened as Bowden asked his future wife to prom and then walked down the aisle for graduation and first heard the beatles all at once. No other reason this should be this powerful in his mind 26 years later.

  9. Thanks for everything Pito, we'll see you back to retire your number some day.

  10. Seems like someone on Twitter came up with a White Sox interested in Segura rumor and all the foodies are jumping all over it. Also on Twitter, good ole Portillo’s is saying the Sox will “reengage” on Burnes (after being close last winter) but that Woodruff is a more likely outcome. Oh, and FootlongComiskeydog continues to embarrass himself with the worst attempt at playing fake insider I have ever seen.

  12. My sources are telling me Vince Velasquez won't be back. Of course, unless something changes.

  13. The obvious move is the Sox giving him a 3 year deal at 8 million per year.

  14. I think the Reinsdorf / Hahn / Sox stuff has turned the entire fanbase into cynics.

  15. Why wait until then? I don't know why this is taboo to talk about. But Tim Anderson's defense at SS doesn't cut it. If they're serious about improving the defense going forward, I don't know how you can sidestep around all of Tim's errors at shortstop? He's very athletic, with a strong arm and probably would be very good in either corner outfield spots or even 2B - and all of those positions would be less demanding than shortstop is. Is this similar to the Eloy/DH discussion. Aren't we at a point of not caring what the player wants and doing what is best for the team?

  16. If he’s anything like how he played in 2022 I’d rather trade him and “Change the Team” vs “Change the Game”

  17. It's nice there's actual movement for a change - even if it is a trickle. Kershaw is one of those guys that cannot be allowed to play for any other team other than the Dodgers.

  18. They have a lot of money. It’s crazy when orgs don’t make the avoidance of paying an injured player the number one priority. If he doesn’t accept they get an asset. Voila

  19. Yes, I think it goes without saying that if you take a bad year and project every trend to continue indefinitely, you're going to see...other bad years. The Guardians, by the way, could have done the same after last season. I think people who are hopeful are assuming things will be better next year, as sometimes happens in baseball. Also, I just want to note that it's mindbending to see the identically-shaped and reasoned posts on the polar opposite ends of the spectrum just a year or so apart. Are you one of those people who phonebanked for Obama in '12 and stormed the Capitol in '21? ?

  20. Oh, that's easy....hop in the way back machine and remember how excited we were about the White Sox future a couple years ago and just breathe baby.

  21. If Vaughn plays 1B every day, which he should be, and gets consistent ABs, he's going to be a very good hitter. I love Abreu, but it certainly seems like it's Vaughn's turn, and I'm perfectly okay with that. That being said, your last sentence hits the nail on the head. After 2022, it's hard not to think that the tanking was for naught. So far, with TLR gone and a competent manager in place, things are looking better. We'll see what they do in the off season, though.

  22. Hahn will low ball him and say they tried. 3yr/$100M sounds about right.

  23. I will gladly take Aaron Judge through age 36 and suffer after that. Especially because baseball is trying to figure s%*# out, so I wouldn't be shocked if the juiced ball returns.

  24. So according to Bowden, Judge’s market is 4 teams?

  26. I don't think Bowden realizes we have never, ever, given out a contract above $100 million. Bowden has to be living in 1996 or something. That was when the Sox made their last big FA splash with Albert Belle. And JR only did that because he wanted to get back at other owners.

  28. While sox track record isn't good, let's remember the Rays get an extra top 50 pick every year and an additional 1.5 million in international spending than what sox are allowed. They make the most of that money, but it's a big reason why teams like them, cleveland end up in crunches like this every year.

  29. Or he's just not a starting pitcher and he's much better as a reliever.

  30. Except Lopez was never that good of a starter whereas Syndergaard was for multiple years. I think Reynaldo has good value based off the season he just had but comparing him to Syndergaard is apples to oranges.

  32. Well, some people do make a lot of money on OnlyFans...

  33. If they're not gonna put Lopez in the rotation they should trade him because there will be plenty of teams who will. He only has one year of control but with a projected abr number of a little over $3M. That will make him a very attractive cheap starter for a number of teams. Trade him to the Rangers for one of their infielders or to the D'Backs for one of their outfielders. He's way more valuable than a 6th or 7th inning releiver.

  37. I"m glad if he's headed to the Cubs. When the Sox get rid of my favorite player, have to hope he gets to remain in Chicago. I would think he'd hit well in Wrigley. He'll get his HR numbers back up especially if the ball is livelier.

  40. This will be really good for Jose. He can go to a team where he has a chance to win and he can solely concentrate on that instead of being the team babysitter.

  41. Adam LaRoche and now AJ Pollock have given Rick Hahn two mulligans on bad acquisitions. That's $21 million saved there. Rick Hahn is a very bad ML GM.

  42. This is why I said last week that this window is closed. There is no avenue for this team to become a champion unless half the team significantly improves. We will enter the season as the 15th best team and finish the season that way. Welcome back to mediocrity, Sox fans.
