Is this what being a "conservative" looks like?8 points
-
Some times I wonder if people really understand how bad the typical MLB announcers are around this sport.8 points
-
Yea, that's the only thing that Aubrey Huff is currently known for, just simply being a Conservative.7 points

I am sure this is trash like the rest of them, but you are damned right that the Sox should be looking for the moon from the Mets. Asking for top guys in blocked positions is actually a pretty smart strategy to try to get something done too.5 points

A Varsho-Kiermaier-Springer outfielder is the best in baseball (defensively at least) without a doubt. 2 gold glove-level CFs and an above average (arguably well-above average depending on the metric) Springer4 points

This is fucking unbelievable. Closing this bullshit now. And SSHM don’t post that again4 points

Has orchestrated 2 World Series winning teams in his tenure, helped build four different franchises into pennant winning teams (five overall) etc. If he isn't a good GM by your standards then I wonder who is..3 points

If the Sox don’t add a solid 4th OF then they aren’t serious about competing next year. Can’t rely on Gavin Sheets or Billy Fucking Hamilton to fill in when one of our starters goes down. And that’s assuming Colas comes up and is able to be semi-productive from the get go.3 points

I mean there is enough for Sox fans to be upset about, we don't need to invent things to get mad about.3 points

They easy won that Jays trade. A premier catching catching prospect for a non on base OF with pop? If I am a jays fan I ask why you only got Erik Swanson for Teoscar but are giving up Mareno for Vasho. That is a very bad sequence.3 points

Aubrey Huff isn't being hired to do anything in baseball. He's a horrible person and a PR nightmare.3 points

But think of poor Steve Cohen and the other $314 million he still has to pay for.3 points

Part of me wants to keep him but part of me is intrigued in what we can get.3 points

What a terrible park to try to re-establish value in too. I really think Conforto is a terrible fit for the Giants.3 points

Man I loved Hawk, but once his sight went, it was time. He just became a caricature of himself.3 points

Reminds me of the 2021 tigers parlaying that to 2022 success.3 points

Sounds like Philly might move on from Kelce and I want him to be the Bears center next year. The guy absolutely looks like he's got a few more years in him. Him and Fields apparently talked after the game and he's a big fan of Fields. Sign him and draft a guy later to compete with Kramer as your center of the future.2 points

Yep, they literally had an entire right-handed lineup before getting Varsho and Kiermaier. Their OF defense has improved dramatically with the moves they've made.2 points

It appears that Arizona has raised the prices on its outfielders. Hector Santiago or Chris Carter won't get it done anymore.2 points

I've said this before several times in other posts. This is what you get with Steve Cohen as one of the richest billionaires in the US as the owner of a MLB team. I am so jealous the Mets have an owner who isn't cheap, bought the team as a fun hobby, not needing the team revenue to survive and seriously wants to spend ridiculous money to attempt to win a championship at all cost. I am hoping someday in my lifetime we get a Steve Cohen type rich billionaire owner, once the loser Reinsdorf sells the team. The diehard and loyal Sox fans in the 3rd largest US market deserve it. I understand this doesn't guarantee s%*# that the Mets will win a World Series title. However tell me one Sox fan right now who wouldn't take Cohen as the owner over our POS Reinsdorf. At least the Mets are spending the money and attempting to put a competitive team on the field, as opposed to our cheap and demented owner.2 points

Stone's silence has been glorious. He's far from the first public person with a horrendous social media persona, but I can't think of many whose on-line presence is such a striking mismatch with their public/on-air personality. On the air he presents as this level-headed elder statesman. On Twitter he rises to every bait, and spends his time down in the mud getting into petty slap-fights with fourteen-year-old trolls. It's so strange.2 points

Agreed, its ridiculous. Every other fanbase clamors about Stone/Benetti but the Sox fans of course whine and complain like always. It makes you wonder if they have ever watched another teams broadcast because there are some AWFUL tandems out there. I am in both the Royals and Cardinals broadcasting regions and the announcing makes you understand how young people cant get into the sport. When Stone and Jason are gone and we have to endure Generic PBP/Beckham on a nightly basis maybe then Sox fans will understand what we had.2 points

Can we just have Bill Walton one game a season?2 points

I would LOVE the Sox to pair Jason with pretty much anyone else but Steve Stone. Having listened to Jason doing tons of other baseball, basketball, and football games I cannot think of a single instance where I thought they were worse than the Jason/Steve combo. They don't even have the charming oddity combo like a Ed and DJ used to. You need a guy who is wanting to enjoy himself during the broadcast and Steve just isn't that guy. I think the best tribute I can pay to Jason is that he is able to sound good with pretty much anyone he sits down with, which I can tell you from experience is NOT easy. I won't put him on my Mt Rushmore of all time favorites, but he is a very good one.2 points

I can watch on mute. Plenty of podcasts to listen to. But they do suck. Steve Stone has been annoying pompous f*** forever.2 points
-
I would prefer a new broadcast team. Benetti can move on to a full time national gig and Stone can retire. They will be missed like a used rubber.2 points
-
I really think they will have to do so, otherwise the pressure on the rest of the organization's personel and players getting hounded with questions around Bauer will be too much. Think of all of the other players getting the TLR questions when TLR disappeared, except times a 100. If you sign Bauer, you will have to get your ass kicked publicly and must have him and the organization be able to publicly justify this signing, which is exactly why I think no one will do it.2 points
-
Never liked Benetti with his generic radio voice and style. Steve Stone is 75 years old. That's well passed the time for normal people to hang it up. Time for new announcers.2 points
-
Honestly i think thats a good deal by the Giants and I wish the Sox had jumped on this.2 points

That was some amazing work by Boras to get that much imo. Totally understandable why Sox locked up Benni2 points
-
Because he was hurt last season and in the past 5 years even including last he’s still easily been a top 3 catcher in the game. You’re paying him regardless. Eloy needs to DH and just lost his LF spot. You have to try to glean some value out of Yaz’s remaining season of control.2 points

I dig the jingle. Hoping Steve and Jason are back.2 points
