So wait, you mean all the concern about the back end of Machado's deal causing payroll issues were for naught as he was always going to opt out after 4-5-6 years anyway, assuming he didn't completely tank? Huh. No one could've possibly predicted that!6 points

There isn’t much good to talk about, Mike. They are literally in the middle of a controversy because their newly signed pitcher has an accusation of domestic violence and Child abuse. They also did only one thing this entire offseason after they were the most mediocre unrealized potential team in the league, they signed that pitcher. so please, let me know when there is some good stuff to talk about. Because the score white Sox talk pretty much mirrors the topics and discussion of Pale Hose Talk right here6 points

1. Fans control 0% of anything about the game, so being optimistic isn't going to change anything either. Not saying you shouldn't be, but lets not pretend anything we do has any impact on anything. 2. What fans can control is their own time. I've been to over 400 Sox games in my life. I haven't been at the park since 2019, and have zero plans to go this year. It's not any sort of hard boycott, I just don't feel any desire to continue spending money, and honestly more importantly...my time, on a franchise that has very little interest in providing a winning product to its customers. Don't hold it against anyone who does want to attend, the ballpark is a great time. But I've found other ways to spend that time I'm perfectly fine with.3 points

Andrew Benintendi, one of the most bland and good but no where near exciting players in the big leagues, is a reason to be optimistic? Yup. Sounds like a summary to me.2 points

8 days away from games. How’s that broadcast schedule coming along, White Sox?2 points

He mainly just seems to pop up a lot in the Sox twitter pitching threads. Also all of my posts are my children and I love them equally.2 points

You would think this org should care about improving and or care about depth. But those things take effort and money, two things this this org seems averse to.2 points

Stop quoting entire articles and think about this for a second. By the time he paid a smuggler, an agent, and taxes, how much of that original deal do you really think was left? Even the Chicago extension has paid him something like $25 million before taxes and agents so far, with just over $40 million left that is promised. His real powerball moment happens if he plays like 2019 and gets his $300 million contract. If he doesn't the money train derails after 2 more years.2 points

Why spend money on players when hoping everything works out is free?2 points

There is a comfort with the team I've invested so much time and emotional energy in returning, but excitement? Zero. And that might be a first in my 30+ years of fandom. I am far more excited that baseball in general is back than the White Sox, which is probably another first.2 points

Romy wouldn’t be my first choice, but given that they refuse to address the hole, he seems like their go to.1 point

He’s going to be sub-replacement or like a 2.5 win player next year. Definition of a boom or bust like guy and I wouldn’t bet on the latter given how much he is likely to strike out.1 point

Watching all the veteran minor league SP deals come off the board without any going to the Sox is baffling. Really hard to believe that these guys don’t see the obvious path to innings that currently exists, which makes me have to think the Sox aren’t trying to sign them. Which is completely bonkers.1 point

Neither Seattle nor Tampa Bay were better teams in 2000 or 2008. But even if we agree these two teams were far superior and unceremoniously booted the Sox from the playoffs in these years the point is that Cleveland has been in the postseason far more than Jerry’s Sox. He should be embarrassed.1 point

Yah. I have no doubt Clevinger is a POS and is not a good father or partner to his significant others. But there is also a decent bit out there that sheds her in not exactly the most credible light. Even in the interview she sort of zig zagged back and forth.1 point
-
I found it odd that she would be discussing this trauma and conducting a planned interview while holding her infant child. You’d think she would have arranged for family to be present in preserving the child’s innocence and shielding it from the emotions. She also claims he was always high and then says it is impossible to plan for when he would act out so as to get videos of his behavior. I’m biased because I’ve been through the false accusation ringer… and with that said, not all of this adds up to me.1 point

With all due respect why did you tie the knot? Didn't she show a lot of signs she would not be supportive of your career? Pretty disrespectful for a spouse to criticize a partner's career like that especially when college coaches can make a ton of money.1 point

I listened to his GFs interview, hard to say whos crappin who. I tend to believe her but she may be embellishing a bit, Maybe the truth is in between which still makes him a scumbag Acid? Really? I dropped that in my college yrs a few times, I guess Im naive to think its not out there anymore1 point

If I’m not watching the White Sox, there is about a 90% chance I’m not watching baseball. If something momentous is happening, maybe, otherwise ChiSox only. That's what makes spending so much time on this, so painful, because the ownership and organization overall is such a clown show. Yet, here I am...1 point

I agree with this guy: I’m completely excited about the upcoming season. I was bummed out on the Clevenger thing for a while but now over it. If he pitches or not, let’s start playing ball. I want to see TA and Benintendi get on base and Robert, Eloy, and Vaughn coming up to knock them in. I want to see Colas. I want to see it all.1 point

Some notes from recent Burger/Burke interviews: Colson Montgomery and Sean Burke lived together during the offseason. They trained with Jake Burger in Nashville regularly. Burke says Colas may be the most talented baseball player he’s taken the field with, citing his bat-to-ball skills plus “swagger and confidence” at the plate. He also noted that Colson is far more “mature and focused” than he was at the same age. Burke describes his arsenal as four seam, curveball, slider, changeup. He says he takes inspiration from Verlander, and the coaches have also had him watch tape on Cease to try to emulate a similar slider. Burke mentioned Duke Ellis as an underrated guy in the system, complimenting his speed, baseball IQ, contact skills, defense, and hustle. Burger says Colas’ power is legit, based on hitting behind him in CLT and watching his cage work. He says Seager comps are accurate for Colson, and Burke is one of the hardest workers in the org. Burke watched Buerhle’s highlight reel backhand play live. It was the first time he’d seen Buerhle pitch.1 point

Cleveland has been better than the Sox, far better, for the last thirty years. They’ve had three World Series appearances. Lost in the ALCS twice. Lost in the ALDS six times. It’s fairly close to perennial. The Sox have 2000, 2005, 2008, 2021. Three of those were embarrassing exits.1 point
-
This sounds like someone saying they want to run a marathon but only if they reduce the mileage and change the rules to walking only.1 point
-
I've spoken to a number of people over the years who know JR and the one constant I get is that he wants to win. But... He wants to win HIS WAY...under his rules, his restrictions financially, and putting loyalty above all else. Like many in the organization he feels he is smarter than everyone else...history shows that is not the case.1 point

Because they knew he was under investigation!!!!! It’s also the same asshole franchise that continued pitching him last year when they knew about this. Just stop with all the Padres crap. We don’t give a s%*#.1 point
