For the record, I would love nothing more than this team to excel this year and make the postseason.10 points

To all those jumping on the 3-4 Sox after 7 games “knowing” that they’re awful or done for the year or whatever…congrats, you’ve done the exact equivalent of writing off an NFL team in the third quarter their first game while they are slightly losing!5 points

None of this is new. We already know all the answers here. Hahn will not get fired, midseason or otherwise. Ownership does not give a crap.4 points
-
Yeah this board was SUPER POSITIVE about this team, definitely the most optimistic board ever and the narrative was that only tony held them back.4 points

I know this isn't the point at all, but why is the "vs." circled we know they're playing the giants4 points

People act like the frustrations with the Sox are coming just from a 3-4 start, but its a lot more than that. Its a decade+ of failure bubbling over. We were promised a world series contender by Hahn and instead we got bubkis. ONE postseason win. And lets be honest, even if the Sox somehow made the postseason, this isn't a world series contender. They're not even in the same universe as the contenders. This is the same bad team that we watched last year and the front office made no real effort to improve. Can't blame anyone for feeling negative out of the gate this year. Its a lot more than a 3-4 start.3 points

Sunday lineup on a getaway day when it would be nice to take a home series? He reminds me a bit more of Jerry Manuel so far.3 points

The Sox deserve all the criticism and lack of faith in game threads when they perform like this. It’s what the game thread is for, discussing what’s happening in that moment. play better and there will be much less complaining and doomsdaying. If they continue to play like this, game threads will be negative like today.3 points

Nobody roots for failure. More cynical posters do take some pleasure in being proven right, as we should.3 points

Of course, no one in their right mind would write off a team after seven games. But this team has no closer, already a key player is hurt, and their starting pitchers are lucky to get into the sixth inning. And giving up 28 runs in two losses two days apart will make any fan think. The bullpen just looks awful. And since the days of the complete game are long gone, the bullpen becomes more important. After all, now a bullpen is expected to pitch at least a third of the season. Things just don't look good. In the next 155 games, the team has plenty of time to turn things around. I just have big doubts that they will. Kopech has been over-hyped from the start, and Lance Lynn looks like he's fooling no one other than himself. Looks like that bullpen will get a lot more work.3 points

Who we’ve been blaming from the beginning… the owner of the organization who keeps his cronies employed while they continue to assemble a team of overrated and overpaid players.3 points

So the guy used essentially the same lineup to start the season and the whining for using subs blows up. Starters should get all 3 in Pittsburgh. Start season with 10 games in 11 days..3 points

It’s crazy that in the 70s you could just videotape people doing something in one take in terrible lighting, have it look bad, and just say: “this is fine. Release this to the world”3 points

It's a little known fact that this song was actually written about a glorious White Sox day game winner....thus the FIREWORKS......2 points

If this s%*# continues for another 50 games or so, I won’t be watching games. I watched fewer games last year than I had in a long time.2 points

Pedro is just another dopey manager. He left Lynn in way too long, but he just has to get 5 innings from him. Yeah. Ruiz, yeah. Then bringing in Alberto to finish, even though he has a 13 man pitching staff.2 points

I would rather they make it obvious what needs to happen at the deadline than being a .500 team2 points
-
Becoming more and more clear. It's a .500 team with no power and no ability to work a good OBP. Nice collection of redundant pieces.2 points

Im sorry, but the Giants suck. Their lineup is filled with nobodies and they are launching balls out of here no problem. Its alarming we can't do the same with the talent in the lineup. Something is wrong.2 points

It’s a marathon, so don’t have a guy who clearly had nothing today throw 100 pitches. Also, the lack of a true long reliever in the bullpen is an issue.2 points
-
I'm with you, I was certainly over-reacting to Kopech's bad day, but I do agree he may be better suited for the pen long term which may help keep the velo up. If he can start commanding the change up or learn a cutter or something to keep lefties off balance especially, he should be a very serviceable starter.2 points
-
Pedro managed this game terribly. No excuse for Lynn to be out there this inning and at 100 pitches.2 points
-
That is a fair analysis of Kopech. I tend to think that he will figure it out and be a serviceable pitcher, but I don’t think he will be a star. I also think he could also belong in the pen, but they didn’t get another starter to allow him to be that. I’m optimistic Lynn also still has something in the tank, even if he’s fat and old. I get those vibes too, but I still sense improvement coming that will change that narrative. There are signs that support a continuation of last year and a difference from then.2 points

Nice job by Vaughn to go with the pitch there. He's been trying to pull those this series.2 points
-
Your point is valid if Benintendi was the replacement for Vaughn which he was not and you'd be bitching right now if Abreu was here with that contract.2 points

You don’t think Benintendi is an offensive upgrade over Abreu?2 points

Surprising considering all the great talent they added this offseason.2 points

On the bright side, if this was last year they probably would have waited two more weeks before putting him on the IL.2 points

The way he's been used so far is quite literally the definition of a platoon. But yes, it's only been 7 games so no reason to freak out about his usage yet but hopefully he starts playing against lefties soon. It was only a 100 PA or so sample size but the guy killed left handed pitching in the minors last year, no reason whatsoever to platoon the guy.2 points

I mean I would hope he does. I was all for Romy starting vs Framber Valdez.. But Alex Wood does not scream "tough lefty" to me.2 points

This checks out. He was dreadful2 points

yes, if he sits every time there is a lefty. (which he has)2 points

if Oscar Colas is playing 5 out of 7 games, and pinch hitting in a sixth, is he "platooning"?2 points
-
Agreed. However, they weren't going to pay over $7M (how much he's getting from Boston) for a backup/weak side platoon OF. Plus, he gets to play every day there. Can't really blame them there. Stay hot, Romy.2 points
