  1. Some teams try to emulate the Dodgers or Rays. The Sox try to copy the Royals.

  2. But again, that's what we've sort of been saying...It's not 13 games in April. This has been White Sox Baseball since about August of 2021. Not telling you "not to believe" and yes, I agree there still is a lot of talent on this roster...but there is FAR more evidence that this team/core isn't very good and holding onto hope that it will all suddenly just "click" doesn't come with very high odds

  3. Sheets in right field reminds me of a Munsters episode where Herman played baseball.

  4. I mean, how is anyone supposed to take this franchise even remotely serious? Just constant stupidity over and over by the same people.

  5. Just saw the replay of the misplay. To be fair, I did laugh hard and immediately. So it had some value.

  6. The White Sox only intentionally walk players when they are in a 1-2 count.

  7. We literally have 15 years of evidence to tell us that as well. We aren't talking about small sample sizes here. I know Rick has limitations on him because of Jerry. We all do. You know who else has limitations? The Rays. The Brewers. The Twins. The Guardians. The Sox have a 183 million dollar payroll this season according to spotrac, good for 11th in the league. Top half. If you combined the payrolls of the Rays and Guardians, it still doesn't equal the Sox payroll.

  9. Same fucking problems as last year. 1) Lack of power 2) lack of defense, especially playing DH types in the field too often 3) can't hit RHP 4) Injuries Hahn has done an absolutely terrible job addressing our weaknesses. Hope is not a strategy.

  10. This isn't a "told you so" post but for a lot of us, the warning signs were right in front of us, obviously dating back to last season (and even 2021 when they played s%*# baseball the 2nd half of that season) This is EXACTLY what a lot of us predicted given how they built this roster.

  11. Dear Pedro, Hanser Alberto is quite bad. Please consider not using him in the future. Thank you. Your friends at Soxtalk

  12. I predicted 5 games under on May 1. I think I was light.

  13. I don't know, but it was honestly worse than him dropping that routine fly ball against the Guardians and their announcers going "you've gotta be shitting me". He got turned around and fell on his face while the ball landed 5 feet beyond where he fell. Edit: found it -

  14. I agree. This TLR style of throwing guys anywhere doesn't work. The ball will eventually find them.

  15. I don’t give a f*** if Colas looked bad yesterday. They are off tomorrow and they need to play real OFs in the OF.
    4 points
  16. How many fucking times can we play a DH/1B in the OF?????????????????????? Come on man. this team deserves every fucking angry fan response possible.

  17. Are people really calling Colas a AAA player and or laying this loss at his feet? Kid is a talented rookie facing mlb pitching full time for the first time. There will be struggles at the plate along with some growing pains. How well he makes adjustments is yet to be seen, but he holding his own just fine for being two whole weeks into his big league career. Take a damn breath.

  20. They cant stay healthy. This team looks dead to rights and that's just with batters being hurt. What do you think is going to happen if some of these starters miss time? Its going to be UGLY.

  21. I don’t think I recall disliking a group of players more than what has been assembled now.

  22. Poor Robert has to swing at junk because 2nd pitch in a row to him 4 inches off the plate called a strike. Just terrible game from Alan Porter.

  23. It's amazing how many simply wasted bad at bats this team has. Every player that comes up, signs or is traded for has at least 2 horrific at bats per game. I'm still baffled that Pedro felt Sheets in RF and Yaz at DH was the right play today. I lose more and more faith in him each game.

  24. With all the injuries and the upcoming schedule, this team is gonna get buried before June.

  25. I would like to watch one game this season where Luis doesn't get screwed by a bad strike call.

  26. Also it's not like we don't have other options. No reason for Colas to sit.

  27. Please burn all of Gavin Sheets' gloves. He should bat against RHP at home, and that's about it.

  28. Hahn has killed this franchise. He really has.

  29. Stupid rule. I would rather they just let the games end in a tie.

  30. Gio touching 96. Looks crisp so far. Working with a great rhythm.

  31. Yet some here still think Sox should have handed him 3/$60M. Woof

  32. I think I may have told you before, but your "this day" posts are great. Keep it up!

  33. The Twins did do a better job insulating for it, however, adding solid major league vets like Farmer, Solano and Taylor for their bench while Sox added Billy Hamilton, Jake Marisnick and Hanser Alberto. None of those guys for the Twins are necessarily guys you want starting for long stretches of the season - and they already are for the Twins as they're every bit as banged up as the Sox - but they aren't going to kill you.

  34. Garbage team putting out a garbage lineup. Shocker. brb while I put money on the twins.

  35. Not sure I’d put much of this debacle at the feet of Colas. He’s more than holding his own overall. Plenty of other fingers to point.

  36. Keynan just struck out the side with DOMINANT looking stuff. This guy might be a dude in our bullpen.

  37. but optimizing what you have is what makes a good manager. this is the 3rd game in the last week that was more about getting people rest than trying to win.
    2 points
  38. Why on earth would Colas sit today. That's the biggest head scratcher of them all. It's a righty pitcher, we have a day off tomorrow, he's been one of your most consistent pieces. Pedro really knows how to kill momentum with these guys and these rest days. Just play them. Jeez.

  39. Agree. When interviewed post game after their win on Monday, Alberto was quick to point out that Grifol talked him into an opportunity with the Sox. Sounds like Luery 2.0 in Hahn allowing his manager to carry one teacher's pet.

  40. As we sit here in April of 2023, looking at the lineup, against the team that is currently first in your division, with a chance to win the series, I can only think of this interview from Rick in 2019

  41. Lineup is fine given what we have to work with. Sheets has been great at the plate. Have to sacrifice defense for offense. Not ideal but I get it. Alberto is really the only issue but again it's a roster construction thing.

  42. Before the season: Gavin in RF can't hurt you anymore. Now: NOOOOOOO
    2 points
  43. I am starting to get concerned about Pedro and Alberto. Hanser has shown no signs he is a major league quality defensive 3B. The options are certainly thin defensively without Moncada available, but have the last two days not been enough Hanser at 3B? Yikes.

  44. New season same old story. The same players getting 'little' injuries that then turn into bigger injuries. It will only be a matter of time before Grandal or Robert pick up an injury. There is no point having 'talent' if it struggles to get on the field, and constantly missing games with minor injuries then affects form and the replacements we have are not up to it due to the poor squad building of Hahn and co.

  45. If you're a fan between 32-50, you've seen all this before. This is an exact repeat of the stars and scrubs era from 1995-2005 or so. We got some good players, we also have too many scrubs. add it all up and it's a mediocre club with some fun and frustrating games in a season.

  46. Sox got a great start from Lynn and relief pitching was exceptional. Reylo has been insane so far. Many posters here called for him to be DFAed more times than one could count over the last few years. As far as fundamentals. How about Andrus catch and throw, Vaughn snagging a line drive, and that relay from Colas to Romy to Alberto? All in all a pretty solid game defensively except obviously the last play, which probably wouldn't made a difference (Twins would have had a man on third with one out and then if they didn't score, home at-bats in the bottom of the next inning). Tough game to lose, but no reason to reach broad conclusions about the coaching staff or the franchise from it. At least wait until tomorrow to see if Gio gives up the ghost.

  47. Haha. It's okay to speak your mind. I respect you as a poster. I just don't get anything out of a certain set of meatball posters that have nothing insightful or thoughtful to post. They are an echo chamber of non value added s%*# posts. Luckily most of those people don't have the sufficient attention span or enough interest in following the minors/prospects.

  48. Glass Joe Kelly was probably the dumbest signing by Hahn....even when he is effective he gets hurt.
    2 points
  49. Hopefully he has a fluky year in him because he has not been very good in his career.

  50. Good organizations would have fired Hahn a long time ago for only two winning seasons in 10 years but these are the White Sox. (And keep in mind they weren't always trying to tank, he couldn't even put together a winning season when they were trying to win.)
