  1. I don't look at this team, what it's doing, the way the roster is constructed, etc. and have the first 5 problems I think of be Pedro.

  2. Yes he gets hurt alot. But he can also really hit. You don’t have one of the best wRC+ in baseball as recently as half last season and not be a good hitter. He’s just in one right now. DFAing him is a comical concept.

  4. The depressing thing is none of it matters. They continue on this path....they are who they are. They "blow it all up"...It's the same FO that got us into this mess They hire a new FO...best case scenario, but there is absolutely zero history to tell us the right hires will be made, not with Jerry still running the show. The same has been true for the last decade+...This is our best hope:

  7. Please Philadelphia, keep piling it on. If this team isn't going to win anything this year, I want them to be out of contention asap so I don't waste my time watching this sorry excuse for a major league team this year, and I want this front office to eat all of their lies and incompetency through getting just slaughtered and embarassed on the field.

  9. Great news that Gio has looked great lately. Offense only scored in 2 innings all day. But lighting and cold could have had something to do with it. Bummer was shaky again. Would be nice to get him back to at least sometimes filthy. Lopey was the good Lopey tonight. I like that Lopey. Eloy made it through without a trip to the hospital or an x ray machine, so that’s good. He is going to hit eventually. Burger is fun. This entire team used to be fun. Romy made a nice catch in LF, even if his path to it was a bit curious. And Pedro defenses out in the 9th. I liked that a lot. So finally, more positives than negatives . To me, it was a big win, because another L and things really could have snowballed. Get the first series win tomorrow.

  10. It’s funny how after the draft I can tell you how many siblings each draftee has, and then when they return the next spring I’m like “who the s%*# are this guy”

  11. On a team full of DH's, Burger is the only one who is hitting like a DH should, so keep him at DH and let the other goofs duke it out in a fashion I don't give a f*** about

  17. No, he is not the real problem but he is a symptom of a FO that has no idea how to conduct and run a successful team. The team is run like a fantasy league team with no real thought on the composition of all the parts. This team has completely lost the swagger and confidence it possessed in 2020 and for most of 2021. Was it the TLR hire? Injuries? Whatever the cause, this team does not expect to win. I am not a bit surprised the most successful position players so far this year are players competing for a slot on the team (Burger, Sheets). The motivation for them is there but for the rest?? This just wasn't a team for a rookie manager with a new team. Sure, Pedro has made his mistakes and could still become a decent manager but again this year, this team looks more prepared to lose than win. You can literally see it in their faces when they are down 0-2 or make an error or walk the leadoff batter... and, yes, I do think the manager has some role in that environment.

  18. Crede year-by-year: 2000: 7 2001: 17 2002: 53 2003: 151 2004: 144 2005: 132 2006: 150 2007: 47 2008: 97 Let's remove the first three up and down years for obvious reasons, like you said. 721 games over 6 seasons = 120 games per season. Yoan Moncada 2017: 54 games 2018: 149 2019: 132 2020: 52 2021: 144 2022: 104 Remove the first one for the same reason as Crede. Let's remove 2020 for clear reasons. 529 games over 4 seasons = 132 games per season. If you want to prorate the 2020 season, (162 / 60 = 2.7), Moncada's average actually jumps to 133, so basically the same. Different breed Moncada that never sits unless he has to according to Caulfield. He's got that dawg in him.

  20. Pedro is way over his head, KC new regime would not even give him a courtesy interview. He is total lip service and fits in with current management group. This hire is in the Terry Bevington category.

  23. April 18, 1972 – Because of the labor impasse and the late start to the season it wasn’t until the middle of the month that the Sox finally opened at home. It turned out to be a night home opener and the 20 thousand plus fans who turned out gave a standing ovation welcome to new Sox slugger Dick Allen. Allen didn’t disappoint, going 2 for 4, with three runs and two RBI’s in the Sox 14-0 win over Texas. Afterwards Dick said, “I think I’m going to like it here.” Teammate Carlos May had six RBI’s on the night. Bill Melton added two. The heart of the Sox lineup drove in 10 runs that evening. April 18, 1991 - The Sox opened the new Comiskey Park by falling flat on their faces and getting wiped out 16-0 to the Tigers. It was a strange game that saw Detroit have a six run third inning and a 10 run fourth inning. Sox pitchers Jack McDowell, Brian Drahman and Ken Patterson gave up the 16 runs on 14 hits along with four walks. The next day Sox players burned the jersey of pitcher Scott Radinsky at second base as a ‘sacrifice’ to the baseball gods for leaving the original park, according to teammate and losing pitcher in the first game, McDowell. April 18, 1994 - Sox leadoff man Tim Raines belted three home runs in a game at Fenway Park. He went 4 for 5 with four RBI’s in the easy 12-1 win over the Red Sox. It was the only time in his Hall of Fame career “Rock” had a three-home run game. April 18, 2000 - The White Sox set the franchise record for the most runs ever scored in the fourth inning of a game when they plated 11 of them in Chicago against the Mariners. They trailed 6-2 before sending 14 batters to the plate. Greg Norton and Mark Johnson homered in the frame. Tanyon Sturtze got the win in relief of Cal Eldred as the Sox won 18-11. April 18, 2007 - Mark Buehrle became only the 15th pitcher in franchise history to toss a no-hitter (16th overall at that time) as he beat the Rangers 6-0. Buehrle struck out eight and only allowed one base runner, giving up a walk to former Sox player Sammy Sosa in the fifth inning whom he then promptly picked off. His was the first no-hitter at home since Joe Horlen’s in 1967. Jermaine Dye had a grand slam and Jim Thome added two solo home runs to help Buehrle’s cause.

  24. I've been thinking a lot about how this season is in fact Reinsdorf's masterpiece. We know that the worst years of Reinsdorf's life was having Larry Himes as GM, trying to tell Reinsdorf things that weren't "you are wise business man and so loyal". Since then Jerry has been able to hire industry people that were sufficiently flattering and aligned to his project of "sport executive who admires Jerry". But there is always risk there. They may have come up in a system that prioritized winning, and not executive admiration. He couldn't be sure where they'd pivot when the times got tough. Hahn was his long-term play. Get a boy from a well connected family, who grew up getting told by the elite of chicago that he is smart and nice. That is his home. Spoiled enough he could get multiple degrees in his twenties to continue to boost his self esteem, and then have one of his family friends get him a meeting with Jerry. It was hahn's decision to go be a scout? Hardly. I don't believe it. I think Reinsdorf realized this was his chance to put a true blue Jerry believer in from the ground up. Monitor his progress, create an infallible resume. Multiple degrees from top universities and came up as a scout? Of course that is Gm material. It was the perfect plan really, hahn's clockwork promotions were a sign of his talent, and the promotions were controlled by ole Jerry. At some point, or maybe always, Jerry's main goal shifted to "still own the white sox but in a way that is guaranteed to have every face-to-face employee express love to me." Hahn is his masterpiece. This season may be a disaster on the field, but in that air conditioned office, likely with no windows or media allowed, it is still a loving atmosphere. We need to imagine Reinsdorf as happy.

  37. A very sound post . You seemed to have learned a lot about baseball or actually apply life lessons and common sense to this subject. Winning and losing colors our perspective on managerial performance. No one here is out there making a list of his alleged mistakes siting score, situation,BP usage etc. Every Day correct decisions are easily discarded but bad play by at the wrong time by the wrong player is magnified tenfold. It's like half the responses to Sheets starting in LF questioned that decision but Sheets drives in. 3 runs and has 2 hits. If he goes 0-4 and makes an error leading to runs scored he's an idiot. Sox win he's a genius. You call out these fans for not thinking beyond the end of their noses and you're a smug know it all. You make some predictions to back up your supposed smugness which no one else would ever do. Your prediction comes through 100 % and you are an even bigger dick if you point this out because you are tooting your own horn but God forbid you make a post singling out all the people who were wrong if they were the ones making that managerial decision. No one likes being wrong. No one likes if you point out that there are legit reasons these decisions are made because teams have all kinds of info fans don't. That's not to say some managerial decisions aren't mind boggling but most of the minds can't see beyond their own frustration and need to place blame on the most convenient target. Yes Grifol didn't come from a great organization. Yes that same organization that people are putting down as a loser organization suddenly must have made a winning choice by not hiring Grifol.

  38. Putting Mr ‘I broke my hand punching my bat and was never the same player again’ first on your list just proves how completely full of s%*# you are. None of this is relevant to today either way. But Carlos Quentin could never stay healthy, and his one healthy season ended with the dumbest hand/wrist injury imaginable. Disconnect your keyboard already…

  40. I've spent the last 40 years as a cog in the wheel. For the most part, I'm ok with it. My kids turned out pretty well. The wife and I have more than most . I'm lucky enough to see my grand kids all the time. But it really hurts to see fools ruining the destiny of my first love. Kenny and Rick are in over their heads and always have been. Knowing JR couldn't care less makes it worse. We've all been saying the same thing in different ways for 15 years. What's the point? The worst part is billionaires live a long time.

  41. Bobby Cox would struggle to play .500 with this team. We need to realize it's no longer the manager, the players are the issue. Rick Hahn is the issue. The Sox have created a working environment where if you don't feel 100%, you are automatically told to sit down. It's hard to build continuity with players not playing. I'd like to ask Konerko and Abreu how often they felt 100% when out on that field. You have to push yourself to play over pain. The Sox have created a clubhouse where players accept quitting.

  42. I don't know how anyone can properly evaluate Pedro right now. The bullpen is a complete mess right now, and they would make any manager look bad. If they pitched just middle of the pack this team would be sitting at .500 ball right now. Considering the human turd this team had the last two years running things, I'm willing to give Pedro a huge leash to try and right the ship. I can say with 100% certainty that TLR is by far the worst Sox manager I've ever seen in my lifetime.

  46. Fans were responsible for the Bulls front office shake up. Now Jerry is alot less hands on with the Bulls these days than he is with the White Sox but fans must keep demanding change. Hahn is horrible, we all know this. Kenny is horrible, we all know this. Modern baseball has passed them by and they don't know how to adapt to it without insulting the fanbase and blaming all of their problems on injuries. Enough is enough. Fans need to chant "FIRE HAHN, FIRE KENNY" anytime they are trailing during a homegame this season. Let those knuckleheads know that we are done with their B.S. and losing ways. Rick Hahn's record as a GM is BRUTAL. And consequently- Kenny's record as the president of this franchise is the same. BOTH NEED TO GO YESTERDAY! LAST YEAR, HELL- 10 years ago! Jerry is holding this franchise hostage and he's too stuborn and/or senile to admit to it.
