  1. Moncada will f*** around and lose his job to Burger and nobody will be to blame but Yoan. Every day it gets harder to justify him in the lineup and then he gets hurt

  2. No one would move the team out of the 3rd biggest market. The only solution is him selling the team or dying

  6. This goes back to extra pitches Cease had to throw last inning. Then 8 pitch inning. This organization is such trash. Yoan, Anderson and Grandal need to all go complete waste of money.

  7. Boy, a lot of people bothered by little, silly stuff. I’m perfectly ok with . . . Sox math. I like the pictures people who win send. It’s a tradition and breaks up the game. the Nationwide jingle/ song. It’s a commercial just like any other one. Jessica Mendoza last night. She seemed to know what she was talking about, which isn’t always the case with some announcers, too often female ones. Gordon Beckham. Is he as good as Stoney? No, but he’s solid and a nice change of pace. I know many on here disagree with that. Now what drives me crazy: I know that Stoney and Jason can’t tell us when it’s obvious the team is just plan being bad and uninterested. But what drives me crazy is when the Sox are facing a bad, bad pitcher, a pitcher who has been hit really hard his last few games or even all season. And yet, the Sox can’t get a hit or walk or anything due to lack of interest and terrible plate disciple. I know Jason and Stone can’t say stuff like, “How can he swing at that?” or “That was a pathetic at bat for Yoan”. But it drives me crazy when Steve and Jason talk about “what great stuff” the pitcher has tonight. They go on and on about how great this garbage pitcher is tonight, like he’s Cy Fricken Young. I understand they can’t bad mouth the Sox, but don’t lie to us all night telling us it’s this bad pitcher suddenly being great, when it’s obvious to us viewers that the Sox are just sucking up tonight at the plate.

  8. Hard to get rid of loser mentality when it starts at the top. JR is a loser. KW is a loser. RH is most definitely a loser.

  11. Since you don't seem interested in selling, pack your bags and get a deal in Charlotte. Maybe folks there will engage enough to keep a beat writer. But Chicagoans are tired of your horrible mismanagement. Maybe in a couple years a real team will move in on the Southside or share a new stadium with the Bears in Arlington Heights. You've worn out your welcome. Your threat to move got you a new stadium, this time go. Just when we think this is the low point something comes along to realize it will just keep getting worst.

  12. You win with players that put winning above everything. You win with players who absolutely hate losing. You win with players who demand accountability from eachother. This team has very few of those players. It has way too many players who are consistently hurt or don't hustle 100% of the time or who don't do the little things that you need to do to win consistently. This has become a team full of players who have come to accept losing and that is the absolute worst. The only hope of future success is by tearing this thing down again but this time bringing in those type of winning players I mentioned. And in order to do that you need a new GM who has proven experience doing just that. That means letting go of RH now. Chicago is a huge market and there are more than a few very good GM's out there that would love to come and turn this thing around. JR has to open the check book and pay whatever and give total power to the next GM. Most everyone should be made available for trade. I would build around Cease, Kopech, Robert, Burger, and Vaughn. None of them are older than 27. Will any of this happen? Most likely not. But one can dream.

  16. I don't think hardly anyone here had a dream or vison of Burger playing 2nd. For many of us, it was about Moncada to move to 2nd base. Burger has proved he should be the third baseman for now while Moncada is out. Frankly if Burger plays a solid 3rd base while Moncada is gone and continues with his present power numbers, then I'm sorry, but Burger needs to remain the 3rd baseman even when Moncada gets back. It's time to trade Moncada and move on from this constant injury after injury drama.

  21. He's looked stiff as hell the last few weeks, I'll give him a shred of credit for trying to gut it out but this is probably for the best with the record and the way Jake is swinging it. Just hope he doesn't need surgery, he looked like he was swinging pretty free and easy in the Houston series to start the season, hadn't seen him look that limber/strong in a long time.

  22. I don’t disagree but I also think this ‘sell or die’ mantra is a little disingenuous. I understand frustration but what are we trying to say here?

  23. No question a losers mentality has spread throughout this entire organization. Since the start of the 2007 season they have had five winning years, one .500 season and 10 losing ones (soon to be 11)

  24. Just because the rebuild is an abject failure, this thread is wishing the same hurt upon generations of Sox fans that Oakland fans are currently going through. I don't even live in Illinois anymore and it would fucking sting. Comiskey Park/US Cellular/Guaranteed Rate is my home away from home, especially because my parents no longer live at home. As I've grown older, the Sox hold less grip on my day-to-day mood when they're bad. Yeah, I immediately turn off the game when they lose. But I'm so fucking excited when they win. When Jake Burger overcomes his injuries. When Giolito reinvents himself for the umpteenth time. Hendriks beats fucking cancer. So what if they're bad and historically they aren't great? They're our team. Not Jerry's team. Not Kenny or Rick's team. Because they aren't eternal forces. If they were, we should hate Hawk for setting the team back during a short, disastrous tenure as GM. And Jerry hasn't threatened to move in damn near 30 years, so to wish for him to Major League the fanbase is cruel. If it hurts you this much to watch, tune out for a bit. Don't watch every game. The team will still be here and hope will eventually spring eternal once again. It obviously has for the Mariners fan base, who had to watch Griffey, Ichiro, A-Rod, Felix, and Randy all go through their stadium with nothing to show for it.

  25. Back in the old days players were often discouraged from weight training. The idea being that the extra bulk would only slow down their swings and contibute to fatigue and injury. Obviously strenth training has come a long way, but maybe today's current jacked players do have a disadvantage in a game that demands more than just pure strength.

  28. I agree the team needs to be sold, but I do not want it to leave Chicago. The team belongs to the loyal Chicago fans. It's bad enough JR screwed these loyal fans for so many years, but he doesn't get to double down and take this team to another city. I would rather wait until the POS loser dies. and get my new owner via the sale of the team.

  29. Contract was through the of the season but decided to make Friday last day since he will getting paid through then and can use free time now to pursue new opportunities. Even had air tickets and hotel for Dodgers trip but decided not to go just to say goodbye to all the players and staff...didn't really like talking about himself or hearing plaudits coming his way. Kind of felt like two deaths getting fired and also praised repetitively but that's still not enough to save his job. Didn't watch Lynn start because it's hard for him not to watch like he's going to write a story and follow-up Q's in Google docs. Only about 50-60% of MLB markets have beat writers now with The Athletic. Garfien went over his three firings in five years and Fegan's shared similar story from his time with a South Bend newspaper that was bought out. Seemed a bit frustrated and emotionally drained wondering if there was anything he could have realistically done as a writer in the face if this White Sox season. Cried a lot on Monday morning. Numbers just weren't there to justify his existence. Seems like his wife has a solid job so not at a total loss. Ruminated on getting to this point at 36 despite being pretty fatalistic about the future of print/sports journalism from the very beginning when just starting out at 22. Talked about progression from blogging 2010-2016 in order to improve his writing to the point where it became a full time career.

  33. And with a weak farm system we're bringing up someone that will struggle and be painful to watch. A quality franchise would have a capable starter coming up. Good luck to him. Maybe he can have a miracle month. More likely he'll check MLB off his bucket list and go coach at some college after this season is over.

  34. This echoes a notion I have had in the past few years of lousy White Sox baseball. In this era where we have technology that allows us to watch any team we want, is the bandwagon approach actually the smart play? We've been shamed to think it is a poor approach to fandom, but why? Rarely are White Sox players from the area, so it's not as if you're cheering for the hometown boys. Further, while the ballpark experience is fun, it is grossly overpriced and there are cheaper summer alternatives like local minor league baseball, among others. So, why let a lousy franchise with a consistently mediocre product make us miserable while we watch a game we supposedly love, all while pouring hard earned $$$ into that franchise? If you really just love fun quality baseball, it makes more sense to invest in the MLB package and follow the young up and coming exciting teams. Then go to a Chicago Dogs game when you want a fun outing to the ballpark. The White Sox are just not worth my time, $, and emotions.
