Because Jerry is a horrible owner who is getting even more stubborn as he gets older11 points

Rhymes would have seen a functioning org. And Getz has not. Rhymes would have worked with talented people he can bring along. Getz has not. Your only qualification for Getz is he’s not responsible for everything wrong. That was also Hahns playbook.7 points

Getz failed the minor league system and said Vizquel was a positive influence on the minor league clubhouse. Hes not fit to be GM of a failed franchise. He has no qualifications. None.7 points

Been a Sox fan since the '84 season when my dad took me to a game when I was less than 2 months old. My first-ever gift was a Sox mini bat given to me by a relative. This move would make me reconsider my allegiance. Logically, I want to bail. Emotionally, I know I can't.6 points

I need to know where we rank "woman shoots herself and another fan after discharging a gun stored in her fat rolls, thus leading to the cancellation of a Vanilla Ice concert" ranks in the Absurd / Ridiculous Moments in White Sox history The last decade is stacked, but we've got Black Sox Scandal Chris Sale shredding jerseys Drake LaRoche Disco Demolition Night Sox fans attacking Tom Gamboa Trading our manager mid-season after he negotiated with another team to be their manager The shorts - I feel like they don't hold a candle to these, but are an honorable mention Belly fat gun Illinois legislature turning off clocks to prevent Reinsdorf from leaving the state (both good and bad) Hiring the play-by-play announcer as the GM; ends in disaster Tony LaRussa's DUI right after he's hired after a decade of not managing The Yermin Saga What am I missing?5 points

I don't see how hiring Haber is any more ridiculous than hiring Getz. Both are woefully unqualified for the position.5 points

You know it’s bad when this thread isn’t even gaining steam after something like this. I think a lot of people have just given up with this team.5 points

did you guys seriously spend 3 days thinking it would be anything other than JR being JR Sox are done as a franchise until Reinsdorf literally croaks4 points

Look on the bright side, after tomorrow, we'll have reached a magical 30 games under 500, during our 'championship window'4 points

I’m sorry, but I’m judging all of you for watching the Sox at this point. Shame on you.4 points

I have over 500 ticket stubs from 2003-2018 in a 2006 Season Ticket Box they used to give out. I haven't been to a Sox game since COVID. Some of that was obviously due to restrictions on fans, but I've had 0 desire to go back.4 points

If JR still owns the team and continuously hides the checkbook in the folds of his belly fat, does it really matter who the president is, or the GM? If it's Getz, and it sounds like it is, we'll just have to wait and see what he does (or is allowed to do). Sure, he's not qualified to lead a real team. But a puppet's only qualification is allowing someone else to stick their hand up their ass and make them talk and wave their arms around.4 points

Lol. Dinosaur-ass, stone age organization. Jerry 100% deserves the baseball misery he's experiencing and will continue to experience, because there is no light at the end of this tunnel when you operate this way.4 points

First, understand that people hide weapons all over. It’s not uncommon for very fat people to hide weapons in fat rolls. Many people have been locked up with guns up their butts (I assume broken down). I’m being very serious. People hide them wherever they can. Second, never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. If it was in a fat roll, this person may have carried a gun like that regularly and forgot about it. They probably remembered when the detector went off, but at that point most people aren’t gonna come clean. They’ll just hope they get through. This is all speculation obviously, as we still don’t know all the facts. But some of these are things I’ve seen and heard myself, or have been told firsthand accounts of by people I trust.4 points

"Core guy" Bummer, great call on that one, Ex-GM and President.3 points

He's doing the same thing he's done his whole young career when he was in the minors. Struggled at first then adjusted at the level. Looks like he's doing it in the MLB now.3 points

As for Giolito, claim him and find something in the CBA that still makes him Qualifying Offer-Elgibile as a result.3 points

I'm likely in the minority here, but I would like brining back Reynaldo Lopez and sign him for 1-2 years in the offseason.3 points

The Angels organization is such a joke. Unbelievable how they wasted Trout and Ohtani.3 points

I was already 2/3 of the way of ridding the Sox from my life forever... Getz is the final 1/3.3 points

Everyone will have to handle it in their own way. I feel if people do not give Jerry a penny, at the games, via merchandise, via his garbage cable TV network, that's the only thing he gives a s%*# about. I boycotted for 13 years after the 1990 season, and boycotted a second time since the Tony La Russa hire. I went to one game this year with tickets from a friend that won a charity raffle, didn't spend a penny (I brought beer and food for tailgating), and won't until Jerry is no longer in charge. Not sure I'd return if Michael Reinsdorf takes over, they need new ownership and a completely new direction.3 points

what a sad sad sad sad sad sad sad state of affairs. I can't really cut down any more than I already have. I only paid for one game this year, as part of a tee ball package. I had a 20 or so game package just last year. Seems like 100 years ago though.3 points

Ok important questions. I’ve been a Sox fan since childhood (1990). In this particular situation—say they hire Getz and the majority of us lifers basically give up…what’s the fan rule? Are we now considered band wagon fans if, someday, they make their way back to relevance and we begin rooting for them again? We’ve tolerated more than our fair share of grief. Does it count as “giving up” if there’s literally nothing to give up on? Does it count as giving up since the owner and the majority of the players have given up on us? Do we have to remain independently unaffiliated and not cheer for any other team to be able to return? Or do we have to at least commiserate with Sox fans while we sit out the actual games part of the season? Can we all agree that not supporting this owner’s team now is actually considered practicing strong mental health? We need some clarity on these things and a unified front on how we will fan rule our way through this.3 points

Just sell the damn team. What a dogshit hire by an owner who is lazy, rich, stubborn and clueless on how to produce a winning organization in the modern era. He wants to do it "His way". Well, his way sucks ass and now the Sox are a bottom of the barrel franchise with no hope in sight. Wake me up when Jerry is no longer in charge of this franchise.3 points

F’N sell Jerry……you are the #1 problem with the organization and always have been. Keep hiring guys not qualified to water my lawn. I’m not returning till you are gone, fan since 1974 I’m done giving you money!3 points

We’re just stuck being fans of a bad organization until there’s a new chairman, and there’s nothing we can do about it. Just have to hope for the best on a yearly basis that everything comes together…which it probably won’t.2 points

You've never seen him go after the Shawnee Mission School Board, lol. He is meticulously prepared when he needs to be, and passionate. When he was with Yahoo Sports, he was always one of the strongest, most knowledgeable writers. The no $100 million contracts is simply an easy sound bite because it's a very salient point...there wasn't any time for the more subtle discussion of why so many managers/clubhouses failed in the last decade and the critical role of the Cuban players (Moncada, Grandal, Abreu, Robert) in NOT finishing off the rebuild. You could just have easily blamed the lack of Dominican connections going back to Dave Wilder/KW, etc. It's STILL an ongoing weakness. Or the lack of any internal starting pitching development after the Danks/Floyd and subsequent Sale/Q years... We could easily come up with 15-20 different reasons. Balta's attempted it previously I'm sure.2 points

His point is JR refuses to pay for elite top-of-the-line, game changing talent and that certainly has played a part in their situation in my opinion. It's the Sox, Oakland and Kansas City that have never done so. That's some company the Sox are keeping isn't it?2 points
