In my entire life - this was the absolute least I have watched the Sox play.6 points

I would much rather staff a bullpen with a dozen guys like this than go out and spend $30 million on 3 veterans. Probably about the same odds of finding 1 or 2 good relievers, as long as you don't care about the games you lose, which I don't.5 points

Bauer is guilty of being dumb enough to let a girl like that get close to him. Bauer is guilty of being unliked by his peers and the media. Teach your kids that if you are dumb and piss enough people off, they will come for you, regardless if you are deserving or not. The MLBPA, the Dodgers and the media (specifically baseball media) should be ashamed of themselves and I hope they pay dearly. If Bauer comes back to the MLB I hope he tries to opt out of the union or something to shed light on how they treated him.5 points

If its consensual its not wrong, and there are plenty of women who are into physicality. I can assure you someone you consider very stable and "together" in the head is into some fucked up stuff.5 points
-
Just because a woman asks you to commit violent acts against her doesn't make the man committing those acts any less disgusting of a human being. He had the option to say no. Instead he did it because he took pleasure in almost killing a woman for sexual gratification. Her devious motives only exposed Bauer, didn't make him any less of a piece of s%*#.5 points

If I was into kicking homeless people in the face, I would probably accept that offer. If the homeless person then went to the police and said that I ran up on him and punted him in the jaw even when he said don't do it and now im fired from my job and everyone thinks im an asshole, I would have an issue with that.4 points
-
He didn't have/couldn't disclose until the cases were settled. There was a very good reason he didn't show it to the MLB 2 years ago, he didn't have it.4 points
-
Mariotti wasn’t a critic he was a coward who lobbed bombs from the safety of his desk. He never faced any of the people he talked s%*# about because he was scared. He fuckin ran away from hawk lmao4 points
-
He's intimidated by vets, but can be a bully to rookies and he basically admits it. No good. He is a bad manager.4 points

I don't think any Sox fan should be kink shaming someone who is into bdsm. Bunch of masochists...3 points

I mean. Expect more of this. This is a rebuild even if they aren't saying the word. These will be the types of additions we see this offseason. Time to come to grips with it.3 points

Men committing physical violence against women is wrong. Only exception is self defense and only to the degree necessary to avoid injury to self. If a woman is so f***ed up mentally that she requests you choke her out, or punch her, walk away. If a homeless person on the street offered to let you kick them in the face for $10, would you consider that OK as well. After all, they offered, right?3 points

Before this gets out of hand, I am not trying to say that Bauer is some saint or role model. He is in to some weird s%*# I personally don't understand or can relate to. I just think it sucks that in this world someone can pretty much have their livelihood taken away by untruthful accounts of what happened in privacy. Even when the justice system says there's not even enough evidence here to charge him with anything, he will forever be guilty to millions.3 points
-
People hated Bauer to start with due to a variety of factors. Those that hated him previously used the accusations as proof he was the devil they thought he was.3 points
-
Why is he a piece of s%*#, because he has a weird sex fetish? There are probably dozens of people you know or work with or are around all the time who have some weird ass thing they are into. You can disagree with it, but I don't see why that makes someone a "piece of s%*#". If he was found guilty of just straight abusing some woman against her will, absolutely, should be put in jail. That's not what happened here.3 points

Is this the worst era of Chicago sports in history? I'd say it pretty much has to be. Bears are the worst team in the NFL, White Sox and Bulls both near the bottom. Blackhawks sucked last season. Don't know how it could get much worse. Think I need to find some new hobbies because following Chicago sports is a lost cause. None of the owners seem to give a rip2 points

How many different ways does everyone want to say "We suck. Nobody cares and nobody is watching?" The Sox suck. They're the second team in the second city. The organization is atrocious. We have little hope for the future. Why in the f*** do you guys get off on repeating this? We already know. It's always been shitty being a Sox fan. Why in the f*** do Sox fans feel better about reminding the rest of us that we suck? You think you're ahead of the game in identifying that we're all fans of an irrelevant franchise? No s%*#. All of us already knew that. You think that you figured it out by noticing that other organizations use advanced analytics and the Sox don't? No fucking s%*#. We suck and always have.2 points

He’s got a long, storied history of pissing off almost literally everyone who’s ever worked with him, in myriad ways. If his career actually has ended, it’ll be because this was an easy reason for the entire community to finally say “good riddance.” That’s the difference between him and the others, where people are more willing to look the other way. I don’t think he’s malignant on purpose; he probably can’t help being a jackass and doesn’t understand why he rubs everyone on earth the wrong way — if you dig around you can find stories of him bristling with teammates and coaches since he was a child — but, you know, that’s life. If you make everyone hate you, you come to find no one around to stand up for you when you need it.2 points

The MLBPA did not treat Trevor Bauer any differently than any other player going through the DV protocol. I do agree, however, that they did fail him and all players when they gave Manfred the right to arbitrarily decide any suspension length. They need to have a consistent suspension length if they are to retain this policy and or clear objective standards in terms of findings. An arbitrator found MLB’s suspension to be absurd and nearly reduced it by half, from 324 games to 194 games. The MLBPA also needs to negotiate a reasonable window in terms of a hearing and arbitration appeal. Manfred and the Dodgers dragged this out an unreasonable amount of time.2 points

Unless you just love having your ass kissed, I can't see how someone above him can watch this guy every day and conclude he needs to be the manager. He tells you how incompetent he is when he isn't showing you how incompetent he is. Let him go back to the Royals.2 points

I dont get people who say he shouldnt be allowed to pitch in MLB even after this. So hes an asshole, yeah, but there are plenty of assholes in MLB. He might be pervy, so what, hes an adult and looks like his encounters with other adults were consensual afterall. Crede had sex with hundreds of women in 2005 alone and hes a hero. TA got laughed at for having an affair, but nothing more. There are countless of unfaithful womanizers in MLB that are celebrated, like Bartolo Colon. I get that teams wouldn't want the PR hit, but this is a little tragic. His MLB career ended because he trusted the wrong booty call. And for her, i wish he did go through with the counter suit, because shes making it more difficult for those women who actually go through abuse. Just a terrible mess.2 points

This is so hilariously spot on. The season was a disaster Pedro, what are you going to do? Well, I need to replace all these bums I hired. lol. Im sorry, but there is no justification what so ever to bring back a manager that lost 100 games in a season where the organization expected to contend. It just can't happen. Especially when they are about to go out and lose 90-100 again next season, and Pedro will almost surely be fired when that happens. Its a waste of time.2 points

There has been about 20 negative stories involving this team in the past year. What's another?2 points
-
Of course he isn't. If you ever want to ruin a celebrities life, publicly accuse them of something horrible.2 points

I know it’s not empirical evidence, but watching this team get beaten (or get slapped around, most of the time) by the likes of the Rockies, Royals, and A’s made me feel like the Sox were truly the worst overall team in baseball.2 points
-
They can get guys desperate for jobs, but one year, and basically the entire coaching staff gets cleaned out, and a guy who everyone knows will be fired probably within a year, is going to be a hard sell for quality coaches who have shown their worth. That's why if you want a quality coaching staff, you need to bring in a new manager. Look for more KC castaways.2 points

What prospects? Nobody worth a damn on a contending team is close to being ready to come up to a big league club next year. There are no big league ready prospects to screw up, unless you're looking to flip some mid-level prospects. My vision for 2024 is to get a collection of veteran cast-offs on "show me" contracts. Focus resources on putting together an actual farm system with a development plan, and let the kids develop at an appropriate level... not just rushing guys to the big league level just because we have nobody else at that position.2 points

I was tricked into violating MLB standards. It's not my fault. I'm certain not everyone here would almost kill someone because they wanted to be almost killed.2 points

What a horrific answer - one of worse I have ever heard from a manager. How do you get accountability with that mindset.2 points

I don't think I posted in this thread but I do remember seeing it and thinking "yeah, that checks out" I didn't believe in this team after seeing them lay down and die last season, they didn't get better in the offseason, and this year's team picked up right where that one left off (except they still had much further to fall, last year they were magnetically drawn to being .500 as if it was nature forcing them to).2 points

I've had a very low opinion of him. Yet somehow this interview reduced my opinion farther still. "Give me whatever percentage you feel you can give me today." My God.....2 points

Ha. No need to apologize. As I mentioned in another thread, I work with failing and floundering comapnies/organizations all the time as part of my 9 to 5. Warning signs went flashing in my head as soon as I heard Grifol speak publicily during that long losing streak in April. The Sox have/had the wrong people at pretty much every key position in the organization. They were setup to fail from the jump this year and boy did they ever.2 points
-
He's clearly all talk. He will be fired in the next calendar year. If you really think your team could be interesting at all in 2024, for good reasons, you better fire him before the season starts.2 points
-
After the game Grifol said of this season it was “Frustrating. Educational. Somewhat embarrassed,” Grifol said. “But hungry and committed to get it right.” If losing 101 games with a team supposedly in its 'championship window' is only somewhat embarrassing, what on earth would it take for him to be embarrassed enough to resign.2 points
-
You have a team you expect to win the division, and instead it loses 100 games. How does this dope not get fired? He is a huge part of clearing the stench.2 points

I understand why no one has any confidence in anything this organization does, but if what Lip says is true and they entirely dismiss many of these "White Sox Way" lifers in the next few weeks, I doubt it is just to appease the fans. Coupled with the departure of Hahn/Williams, it could be the most major overhaul in the history of this ownership. I am not saying Getz is the solution or that they will do a good job picking the next staff, but I am not sure it can get much worse. So, I can live with Grifol another season if they bring in talented coaches and evaluators from outside the dysfunctional White Sox family. Grifol's work at the ML level is the least concern with the number of other problems the org has from the ground up.1 point

You know seeing how the Rick Haun replacement went, I see no reason the SOx could do any better if they ever fired Pedro. It may be worse that Pedro hard to imagine that Past that please fire Pedro1 point
