  1. It’s going to be devastating if this doesn’t come to be

  2. My god. That article mentioned nothing about "struggling to hit 94." It said he's encouraged to be at 94 and meeting his goal of a mile per bullpen session. Can't you just wait and see how it plays out Instead of just feeding everything into your miserable dour Cease scenario? You are like Parkman reincarnated.

  3. I disagree. It reminds me of Petco in Sandiego with grass seating and probably a small park that can be used by the public when the team is out of town. Builds fans of kids who play there.

  4. You are panicking over a bullpen in February, a week before pitchers and catchers have even reported to camp. Call the folks at Guinness, as I think we have a new world's record.

  5. It's Feb 7th for god's sake. The absolute worst thing if Cease doesn't get traded will be everyone falling over themselves to be the first to diagnose an injury. OH MY GOD HIS VELO IS DOWN .8675309 MPH!!! i KNEW IT!!!! I SAID HE WAS GOING TO HURT!!!! HE'S HURT AND NOW HIS ARM IS GOING TO BE AMPUTATED!!! OH THE HUMANITY!

  6. Thank You. Yes, TA was horrible last year, there is no argument. But putting him on a greatest failure list is pretty ridiculous. If anything he is one of the Sox greatest success stories of this era. His fall from grace was as ugly as possible, but that should not outshine the peaks of his success.

  9. Abreu, Cease, Gio, and — about to make people big mad — TA. The judgment period is from 2020 to 2023, and until Hanser Alberto's horrendous fielding led to TA's knee getting punched, TA playing correlated with wins (thank you @South Side Hit Men for that data), he was an 2x All-Star (and starter) + the peak moment of this all is the Field of Dreams game. Can also sub TA for Hendriks and I wouldn't be mad.

  10. I’ll be honest - I wouldn’t mind signing TA to one year deal. Give him at bats and hope he is healthy and you can flip him at deadline. Similarly i have no issue with Whit on 1 year deal. Let him play a bit at 2B and OF…just like id have TA play some 2B and SS. Both would be signings with hope you could flip. Maybe not for a ton but at least something - even if it is bonus pool and draft picks. Reality is with TA if he is healthy and bounced back - you are taking a flyer on someone who would be valuable at deadline and if Whit is hitting decent a team may give you an interesting flyer or two.

  11. I must admit I’m enjoying the taste of Josh Nelson’s tears…dude is literally shook by the lack of parking.

  12. Every single time this thread comes up all I can think of is how literally everyone of substance who had shown success before just absolutely cratered once Drunk Grandpa showed up. It was uncanny and 100% predictable.

  15. Don't really care for my free time but it is a nice change of pace to toss a game on in the background while working from home.

  16. If the first half goes terribly, I will still say it was worth skipping that package. That package does not reshape the white Sox and is only a minor contribution to its next competitive team. Failing to take it doesn’t change their next competitive window to my eyes - heck, even if the Brewers rapidly turn them both into all stars, I won’t believe the White Sox could Have done the same. Lopez has to play somewhere, after all.

  17. Waiting for a certain poster to blow every conceivable gasket at these renderings. Whatever will fans do but be forced to not drive their living room on wheels to a game.

  18. Also since Wrigley is trending right now on one of my feeds, this site would probably host a winter classic at some point too.

  20. Imagine that they will have competitive ownership that cares about the onfield results as well. This location, concept and idea will change Chicago baseball forever if it happens. Kids will be Sox fans and Wrigley will be the old dump.

  21. These renderings are the same ones that leaked previously (but with more) and still look absolutely incredible to me. Going from the Rate to this stadium would be the greatest comeback story in Chicago history.

  23. As much as no one should want to watch this abomination of a team, it's still baseball. Or some semblance there of. Which is still better than no baseball!

  25. Not going to lie....I just looked at the current 40 man roster and had to look up who the hell Braden Shewmake was. Ah, one of the pickups from Atlanta for Mr Bummer.

  26. I remember when Kimbrel came into camp barely throwing 90. He still ended up throwing at least 94 when he started the season with the Dodgers.

  27. You know I'm only expecting that because of it would be very White Sox. Murphy was an optimist. We might be sitting here in July lamenting the fact that the Sox didn't take the Burnes package.

  28. I think it would be easier to do a Mount Rushmore of players/coaches that have actually worked out. Too many to choose from in the failure category

  29. Leury played to his ability. I don't think a player was more set up to fail with fans and on the field than the legend.

  31. It was a soft 2020 schedule. Who was the only good offensive team we faced? Minnesota? Kind of expected the implosion after.

  32. Might as well make the White Sox Mt Rushmore handsome, so I'll go with.... Nicky Delmonico, Nicky Delmonico, Yoan Moncada and Nicky Delmonico *** It is better to look good, than to feel good. ***Nicky did play 6 games in 2020 so that counts

  36. And Moncada had a good 2021. Keuchel has a good shortened season them imploded like a neutron star and became the worst vet presence possible.

  38. Anderson, Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech Kopech sitting out the COVID season still doesn't sit well with me. It's not a COVID stance either there was just something off about that to me.

  40. Moncada, Eloy, Kopech, & Grandal. All of the ills with this org start and stop with JR, but addressing only the failures in uniform, these four reached the highest peaks of disappointment.

  41. Best post of the offseason. I think Sox are a better team with Whit and TA and like u said, Sox could flip 'em after a couple months if the team blows. It's just $$ though and sounds like our guys aren't interested in spending $$ at this time. ... Spring training is upon us. Are teams willing to sign guys after this Sunday? Seems time has run out on shaping rosters. It's time for spring baseball.

  42. Rankings and small summary/blurb Montgomery 42 -As to SS, consensus in industry turned for the better and its now 50/50 that he can stick at SS. Felt injury limited him last year and rust/exhaustion also hurt him in AFL. Given a chance to "reset" and become the prior high contact and all fields hitter we saw previously, should continue March to Chicago and be everyday SS or 3B, with 4-5 WAR upside due to hit tool/position. Quero 67- Average arm, but 50-55 defense, OBP north of .350 and a little pop, which is "a starter on majority of teams". Everyday catcher. Ramos 69-Solid average defender at 3B with 55 arm and could move to 2B if needed. Could hit for avg, 10% walk and 20-25 HR, with possibility of 30 HRs and some All Star teams. Nastrini 76-Odds remaining starter over 50% Schultz 79- No. 1 starter upside or top end reliever potential depending on health and coordination For more see https://theathletic.com/5245693/2024/02/05/top-100-mlb-prospects-2024-keith-law/
