  1. Oh you just looked at Kelenic's big league numbers tonight?

  2. If I had to have a beer with one person from this message board, you would easily be my last choice. You’re such a loser.

  3. You don't move Tim Anderson for someone who may only be here 2 months.

  4. So much for all the fluff stories this past week about how "great" Romy looks. 😁

  5. We WISH we were only committed to just $3M for Leury, which again reinforces how much of a steal this is at just $3M. I wouldn't have loved bringing back Andrus for the $10M or so I honestly thought he would have gotten with a starting SS gig, but $3M to be our 2B with his secondary benefit being a legitimate backup plan for TA? This is great.

  6. Your 2023 Chicago White Sox....It is what it is.

  7. The Sox cannot afford to play Sheets in the OF. The OF was slow and couldn't throw anyone out. Colas alone had 11 assists in the minors last year and 7 in Birmingham in only 32 games in RF ! With the shift gone a lot more hits are going to get through to RF and you need Colas out there with his strong and accurate arm. Last year teams ran wild on the Sox OF especially the Guardians.

  9. At only $3M this is an absolute steal. The guy was literally our best position player during the time he was in our team. He put up a 2.0 fWAR in only 43 games, which is absurd. Even if he can just do that same production spread out over a full season, it will be the first White Sox 2B to reach 2 WAR since Iguchi in 2005.

  10. LOVE this move for only 3 million, as I’ve been saying all off-season. And we also now have a backup plan at SS in case TA gets hurt. This is a fantastic move.

  11. The better defensive SS is at 2B. Only in this organization.

  13. You've probably heard or seen some of the trailers for this over the past year or so. Now the release dates have been announced for the three part documentary "Last Comiskey" profiling the "Doin' the Little Things" team that won 94 games shocking the baseball world and the final year of Comiskey Park in 1990. Parts will be released on You Tube starting on March 2, with the other parts to follow on March 9 and 16. Many of the players and front office agreed to be interviewed for the documentary as well as fans, media members and Nancy Faust (who provided the music!) Matt Flesch and his people worked for over two years on this which started as a project during COVID isolation. I provided a lot of the highlight video from out of my library. Fans also provided still photos and home movies. Looking forward to watching this...from what little I've seen Matt and his people did a very professional job.

  14. What else should they have spent that $3M on during Spring Training? Or should they have not spent anymore at all? Also you said he's going to be a below average hitter out of the #9 hole..... The average #9 hitter last season hit .226 with a 81 wRC+. Andrus only one time in his career (29 games in 2020) ever hit below .226, and is a career .270 hitter with career 86 wRC+. For a #9 hitter, he will be just fine, and that is ignoring all the positives he brings on the bases, on defense, and in the clubhouse. This isn't an exciting move, but it's a pretty easily a positive one.

  15. Putting Liam on the 60 until he wraps up his treatments seems like the least they could do for him. Let him return at his own speed, if they make him take more time so what? His health needs to be the priority over baseball.

  16. Never going to happen, but wish they would just eat the $ and cut Luery. HE’S the 1 that is the clog. Would be nice to have Elvis and Romy both on the roster with Sosa waiting at AAA. Luery is really just in the way and doesn’t contribute anything
    2 points
  17. I'm fine with it. Whatever gets Luery to play less isn't a bad thing.

  18. It's better than the $5.5 million they paid Harrison last year.

  19. Sure, why not? I’ve said several times throughout this off-season that I would take Elvis late in the game for $3M, and here we are.

  20. Also, having a 2B with SS caliber range is more important than ever

  22. Remillard/Sosa/Romy fluff piece threat clipped $1-2 million off that deal...lol.

  23. Nice insurance move on the cheap, buys some time for Sosa and Popeye. I wonder how mad will everyone be when 2018-2022 pre-Sox Andrus shows up and can't hit.

  24. In regard to the 2B battle, Rick Hahn just said Zach Remillard “has sort of been forcing the issue for a few years” and that we should see what he has in camp. Fire this guy right now. Just a complete fucking joke of a GM.

  25. Man if wanting to make sure people face penalties for Domestic Violence is "woke" this country is fucked.
    2 points
  26. There isn’t much good to talk about, Mike. They are literally in the middle of a controversy because their newly signed pitcher has an accusation of domestic violence and Child abuse. They also did only one thing this entire offseason after they were the most mediocre unrealized potential team in the league, they signed that pitcher. so please, let me know when there is some good stuff to talk about. Because the score white Sox talk pretty much mirrors the topics and discussion of Pale Hose Talk right here

  27. Maybe but Giolito also did the wrong thing in adding all the extra weight. These guys are much younger than you and I and sometimes they listen to the wrong people. It's the Sox job to prevent that and guide them to at least a consultation with the right person who hopefully they employ that person to protect their multi million dollar investments from their youth.

  28. Then there's a precedent.....Rick got his JD so that's lawyer speak for "get Leury outta here please"

  30. Athletic training is such a minefield. Somewhere some trainer has to step up and say "do not weight train to the point that you're adding 20+ pounds. If you are a pitcher you can maybe experiment with adding close to 10 lbs to your legs or lower body to improve your drive off the mound. A real baseball trainer can't just be about the proper way to lift weights. They have to understand whats best for each position on the field , each players physiology and health history and the after effects of Covid and tailor the needs of the player accordingly. The really need to be experts in quite a few fields along with acute knowledge of baseball. If you are a hitter perhaps a 5-10 lbs to your upper body but wrists are so important you don't really have to add much weight because how much weight can you really put on your forearms and keeping your wrists strong ? Now I'm not an expert in these things by any stretch of the imagination. But when you finish growing and are in your physical prime generally from 18 to mid to late 20's years old , the weight you are in those years is generally the weight you should maintain where you are at your most athletic self generally .Obviously the maturation of your body may add some pounds but it's up to you to distribute it where you need it as well as where your genetics put it. Strength and weight gain without maintaining flexibility, quickness, speed and athleticism and putting it where it should be can be more of a detriment than a help. Diet and stamina training, expanding your lungs by running or lower impact stamina training like life cycles will help too. But this thing about just gaining muscle all over is not for baseball players which is a finesse sport. Legs and core most important. Flexibility in your legs and back and a strong stomach should prevent a lot of pulled leg muscles but again if you have any unnatural curvature of your spine like scoliosis it's even more important to keep your core strong. A trainer should know all of these things about a player he is training. One size does not fit all. Even a smart guy like Giolito who is always looking for ways to get better somehow was misinformed about gaining so much extra weight. These players are young and impressionable. They may make decisions about their own bodies without fully understanding what they need to understand . They may have a buddy from their country who can tell them how to add muscle but without all the proper knowledge they truly need to actually help them become a better baseball player. I don't know if the Sox have one person who is the kind of guy I am talking about but if they do they need to direct the players to that guy about how they can become a better player through training specifically geared to them. I'm not even sure if the Sox management is fully informed enough to hire the right guy(s) for the job.

  31. I agree with this. Given where this team is at (whole other discussion) this isn’t a “bad” move but it’s just fine
    1 point
  32. in the last 9 years he’s only done that 3 times and he’ll be 35. He’s had a long career we can draw on, and really it comes down to now whether he can provide a dominant offensive year for him (slightly above average) or if he’s giving us a Leury year (which he has 75% of his career)

  33. This is not a good use of $3M for a team up against its budget. He's not the player we saw those final two month - not even close. Classic case of the Sox chasing catching lightning in a bottle. I can't help but throw out what he did with the Sox and his 181 AB's and instead look at his huge sample size from 2018-2021 (and include 2022 OAK if you want). He is going to be a below average hitter out of the 9 hole. His value is in his clubhouse leadership and fielding, and now he's going to be asked to move over to 2B. Everyone can say he'll be just fine, but the truth is we don't know what he can do as a 34 year old at 2B. He may end up nothing more than league average there.
    1 point
  34. Oh I’m expecting that a larger sample size won’t do him any favors. One hot streak here doesn’t undo who he was the last 4 years.

  35. Good clubhouse move right now, with little risk. I like it.

  38. If anything Remillard could've/should've been the INF called up last year to ride the pine when they needed a body instead of burning an option on Sosa.

  39. The arguments being used to undercut her claims could very well be applied to the man under scrutiny here, yet they aren’t. There is more of his past behavior in public record outside of these accusations than hers, yet he’s presumed innocent and she is dismissed. Funny why that is.

  40. "Holmes and Bernstein are Sox bashers. Not one word escapes their lips that is not negative. " They have always bashed the Sox and always will, like some internet trolls do. Their purpose is to take the joy out of being a Sox fan and turn positive energy and enjoyment of the game into negativity and sarcasm. It's easy to be a wise guy and they are pros at that game.

  43. No MLB franchise is at risk of contraction because of lack of revenue. This is disingenuous. All businesses need to make money to remain solvent, but sports franchises are rather unique when compared to other multi-billion dollar enterprises. Jerry has had a lifetime to make money in other business ventures, he need not rely solely on his two sports ownership groups to generate further wealth. He could have cashed out with massive ROI's at any point in the last 25 years, but here we are still venting about his penny-pinching ways prohibiting his teams from competing for top talent in the third largest market in the country. Please miss me with this noise next time.
