Keuchel had an ERA of almost 9 third time through the order last season. He turned the average hitter against him into Aaron Judge. He's lucky to play for one of the few managers in baseball that would ever let him see the lead-off hitter for a 3rd time. edit - I probably should have mentioned that had Keuchel been managed like he should have been during the 2nd half of last season, the Sox almost certainly would have had the 2 seed thus giving them HFA vs Houston. Stuff like that on the margins really matters, and it's exactly what Tony has been getting wrong (mostly) for 2 years.11 points

Please stop using the Braves as an example folks. Prior to winning it all they won 3 straight division titles in a much better division than we've seen the last few years. In 2020 they played in the NLCS and were one win away from the WS. That's before you factor in they had arguably the best infield in Baseball. There is no comparison to us.5 points

He got pulled because everyone knows a third time through the lineup for Dallas is a nightmare. He did his job tonight, and TLR used him correctly.5 points

Something has to be done to shake this team up. It's not just the total lack of hitting it's the lack of any change whatsoever in their approach to hitting. No one is even attempting to work the count, or shorten their swing, or maybe try hitting the opposite way. It's just doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Which I do believe is the definition of insanity. The team is at or near the bottom of every offensive statistic. 5 of the 9 starters today are hitting sub .200. The only reason your not 10 or more games out of first is because you are in the worst division in baseball.4 points

Let’s not act like Tony didn’t have a large role in deciding who to acquire the last two offseason. Hahn is a disgrace though and should be fired IMO.4 points

This team lacks focus. Get a new manager before it's too late.4 points

I know this is obvious, but if we don't start getting our hitting in order, we are not going to win a damn thing this season.4 points

It's our new TLR Server. It only works when it wants to, and makes sure to get lots of rest.4 points

Or you could look on the bright side. Lynn still missing . Eloy still missing. Sheets coming to life. Giolito back soon from Covid. Vaughn back. Moncada back and swinging well. Bummer out and maybe he can turn it around too.4 points

I would have had more respect for Hahn had he resigned after Reinsdorf forced him to hire La Russa! He deserves what he now has.3 points

TLR is a convenient scapegoat for the completely underwhelming 25 man depth his boss put together.3 points

This is supposed to be a championship team. Sox were thoroughly outplayed this weekend.3 points

At least Vaughn is at 1B. He needs to play 1B more and still develop as a defender there. He is the future at 1B not Abreu.3 points

He's fortunate to be playing for one of the few managers in baseball that's foolish enough to ever let him face a lineup for the 3rd time. If Keuchel is still in the majors a year from now, he'll almost certainly have a shorter leash than what Tony has given him the last 2 years.3 points

So in the last week Me and my boys went to Wrigley and white sox beat the Cubs We went to Boston and we beat the Red Sox We went to the game tonight and we beat the Yankees This means we need to go to every game and WS will win!!!3 points

If Ricky was still managing, with the LaRussa achievement with this team, he would have been fired weeks ago. Or it would be the leading topic on sports talk radio every day until he was fired. Instead, we might fire Tony’s hitting coach.2 points

Despicable ageism directed at Tony and cheap shots at our players is what one might expect from mindless angry fans.2 points

I think we should all just wait and see what Rodon provides over the course of the season before any judgements. The early returns look bad and not offering a QO seems dumb in hindsight, but it’s a long season and his arm could fall apart at any time.2 points

Carlos Rodon was absolutely worthless 2 months before the 2021 season and got 3 million dollars. Please dont make threads anymore. K thanks, bye.2 points

So Tony gets a back to back playoff team with a top flight offense, defense, and pitching staff, and when all of that self-destructs the manager isn't responsible for it. This is circular enough to establish its own orbit.2 points

They most definitely do but they won't be because the owner is more incompetent than they are.2 points

You TLR lovers look at this walking babbling corpse as the same man he used to be. He isn't. He was a bad hire. Guys near their 80s shouldn't be running things as important as this team in it's competitive prime.2 points

I said it - now the Sox are about to go on a massive run of really good baseball. Watch out MLB!!!2 points
-
I don’t know what exactly their hitting coaches are saying, but in the entire statcast era the white Sox are at or near the bottom of baseball in launch angle, and about the only constant players through that time are Leury and Abreu so hitting the ball on the ground too much has been a longterm issue across several coaches.2 points

Just when I thought this couldn't get any worse....."and it will be Jason and Gordon Beckham in Kansas City"2 points

Sorry not sorry but this team is just extremely unlikeable and unwatchable2 points

The margin is very slim for pitchers when a team can't hit or score.2 points

I know it doesn’t all fall on Menechino, but he’s gotta go. The hitting philosophy for this organization is abysmal.2 points

I'm just glad we're getting Moncada and Grandal some much needed rest, most important thing to do.2 points

So they generally do not do well against some lefties and most righties. Good times.2 points

Unless every single scouting report on Perez is wrong and he's actually awful defensively, I'm getting hard pressed to see a reason to keep McGuire around over him. Especially because Perez has reverse splits.2 points

Should have traded Eloy last offseason, rumor had it Ng wanted him, and they had excess pitching. Eloy will never be able to play on a regular basis, and the club doubts he will be able to hit as a DH.2 points

I know certain posters get a lot of rope around here because of shared history or whatever reason. But I think it’s genuinely unfortunate and counterproductive that so much of the commentary on the site is driven by trolls.2 points

No Moncada , no bueno. He needs to play against lefties and righties. I do not care about day game after a night game when he's swinging the bat well.2 points

He is correct about the bullpen workload. As James Fegan reported yesterday: https://theathletic.com/3311264/2022/05/14/the-white-sox-are-playing-too-many-hard-games-to-avoid-hard-bullpen-decisions/ A good portion of the responsibility rests on the sputtering hitters. The Sox' 10 of 16 2022 wins have been close games (1-3 runs) with only 1 "blow out" 5+ run win. The Sox won 32 blowout games (5 + run wins) last season.2 points

Tony stated publicly this is the lone reason he even considered returning, and that he wouldn't have given a second of consideration if this wasn't the case. I continue to boycott the BBHOF as a result.2 points
