  1. Looks like every Hahn offseason since 2013

  2. That's just it. I see an entire team under-performing, and giving some of the worst defensive production I have ever seen from a team with World Series aspirations, under a manager who was supposed to have everyone playing "the right way", and it seems WAAAAY too coincidental to all be happening at once. Jose Abreu talking about leaving. Tim Anderson playing defense worse than he did as a rookie. Almost every single hitter we have is having one of their worst starts ever. The pen is just a dumpster fire, even the guys who have histories of pitching well are having extremely bad outings way more often than their histories would indicate they should. You see this as 26 coincidences. I see it as 1. Why is everyone failing all at once? This is literally Tony's job.

  3. As opposed to you who always rides on their worst game. The problem is, even with Mr. Energy, Josh Harrison, and Hahn's offseason pick ups were pretty easy to guess how they would turn out, this team isn't focused enough. The Big Hurt on the team's own postgame show, said they were sleepwalking the last Yankees game. Ozzie, on the team's own postgame show, said game 2, they weren't into it. They were content with the game 1 win. It's on the HOF baseball person. For anyone that remembered or was able to remember his first tour here, they all knew there was no way he would live up to expectations because he wasn't so good. Now older and out of the dugoout for quite some time, he's not even what he was. Renteria had to go, but they didn't even upgrade. I think right now, Renteria, with all his warts, was a better manager. At least they always played hard.

  4. So BA is doing rolling mid season updates, but there's no real indications that i could see for who moved up or down so glad this existed! I know there was an update after the quoted post above. For instance Ramos had already moved to 6 so it's more like +4, but bear with me since this was easiest. Note, I did include Colas was at 10 below, so I tried my best!!! Here is the updated list with movement. This will be the last update. I love my BA subscription, and it includes May Updates on so many guys with the stuff we've been begging for info on including defensive comments and most importantly, velo and stuff jumps! This rolling update is new and SO SO worth it. Please consider supporting such an awesome product that I am pirating here so you can have a final taste. 1. Colson Montgomery SS (Unchanged) 2. Bryan Ramos 3B +10 (was 11) 3. Jose Rodriguez SS +2 4. Sean Burke RHP +5 5. Norge Vera RHP -3 6. Oscar Colas OF +4 7. Yoelqui Cespedes OF -5 8. Jake Burger (hilariously listed as RHP on the site but 3B) -1 9. Romy Gonzalez SS +6 10. Wes Kath 3b -6 11. Lenyn Sosa SS/2B +6!!! (see notes below) 12. Yolbert Sanchez SS/2b +4 13. Christian Mena RHP +1 20. Kohl Simas RHP SEE NOTES BELOW 21. Andrew Dalquist RHP -14 22. Erick Hernandez OF (I have to check but I believe he was just slid down from 16 since everyone moved up.) 23. Caleb Freeman RHP -2 24. Tanner MacDougal RHP -6 25. Adam Hackenberg C +5 26. Luis Mieses OF -3 27. Carlos Perez C Unranked previously 28. Yohemy Nolasco RHP (PM for an awesome tidbit) 29. Bennett Sousa LHP -3 (first lhp i've included? lol) 30. Yoelvin Silven RHP -4 I am providing a small sample of notes: Sosa: The power has emerged in Sosa’ s age-22 season, with his ISO jumping from .068 last year to .197 in 2022. His walk rate has also improved significantly while strikeouts have dropped. With the ability to play all three infield positions, there could be further upward movement as the season progresses. Simas: May Update: An undrafted free agent in 2021, Simas moved into the rotation this year at Low-A Kannapolis and is attacking hitters with a four-pitch mix including a mid-90s fastball. https://www.baseballamerica.com/teams/1026/chicago-white-sox/organizational/#96992 The Yohemy Nolasco stuff is ❤️ . Never heard of him prior, don't even know what class he was in? He is 19 years old from the Dominican Republic.

  6. They're struggling to win a series against Kansas City. There are exactly zero series that are gimmes right now.

  7. The crappy feeling is that I think all of us know deep down that firing him won’t do shit to turn this around

  8. Out-classed right now, by the Kansas City fking Royals. There is so much wrong with this organization right now, I don't know how you fix any of it.

  9. This team is like highway accident. You know you should ignore it but you just can't look away.

  10. Is Hahn on a one-year contract? I can't imagine him sticking around after his contract runs out. He's not put together a very good team even though the team is banged up.

  15. Jack, it's been four games. I know you were all-in on this wrist bruise is going to ruin Vaughn, but can we not have these absurd 4 game sample commentaries please. JFC

  16. The team had a better winning percentage in 2020 and lost in the first round of the playoffs, just like with Tony. The manager got fired. Everyone knew it was the correct move. Then they bring in this guy because JR wants to right what he considers a personal wrong. He may have done himself a solid, but he wronged his team, his management staff, and all the fans.

  17. I am also going to say this outloud. The last two years have made me miss Kenny Williams. Love him or hate him, he was not afraid to go get a guy he thought could put the team over the top. If he had been running this ship the last two years, he WOULD have gotten a home run piece. He might have paid too much, or might have given up the wrong players to get him, but he would have swung for the fences, instead of trying to poke it through the hole the other way like Hahn.

  18. This team has made me something worse than annoyed and that's apathetic. Even when they win you just scratch your head as to how this team has fallen off a cliff to where they are sweating out these games. Hard to look past the struggles when they are playing like this since last year's ASB. Feels bad man

  19. The combination of Kenny and Rick oversee the entire organization. That goes beyond just the 40-man roster. That includes minor league roster construction, coaching staffs, analytic departments, scouting staffs, etc. The “good” news is I still believe they did a very good job assembling a core that would be ready to compete at a very high level, all in their primes. No easy task and I believe they successfully identified a very strong amount of talent from other organizations to acquire, and found ways to make it happen. The “bad” news is similar to the Bears who refuse to surround their key pieces (or piece in the current case of Fields) with the necessary talent needed, you have a flawed roster that has their window close prematurely. This includes a training staff that seemingly can’t keep those key investments on the field, as well as a manager who uses philosophies from the late 70’s in 2022. Additionally, when moves like trading Madrigal are made, they have no acceptable replacements ready to fill the void. Awful free agent additions add up to a pretty bad formula.

  20. It's easy to point at the players and say they're not performing. And it's certainly valid to do so. However, when players are subject to an environment with constant lineup changes, poor bullpen management, inconsistent days off, and poor messaging on why decisions are made, it will affect their performance. We haven't heard much from the players this year, not as much as last year for sure, defending TLR. Maybe it means something, maybe it doesn't. To me, it seems like the players are going through the motions a lot, even in close games. There doesn't seem to be much life and excitement. That tells me there's a leadership issue.

  21. It's too bad that the White Sox media is made up of cowards and yes men, as his status should be debated as the headline of every single White Sox discussion happening in Chicago right now. Instead, nothing.

  23. I generally am not an anti-Hahn guy. I think he did a pretty good job rebuilding this core and if healthy, the team is pretty stacked. You can't have 26 all stars. All teams sign role players. Even the Dodgers wanted Harrison! Buuuuuutt both of the last 2 offseason were PUTRID. I think you have to do full scale changes to the FO and coaching staff is this team doesn't make a drastic turnaround AND a run in the playoffs. Then again, this is the White Sox.

  25. Hahn gets way too much slack because of his boss and making a nobrainer couple of trades in 2016

  26. Sheets and Burger are both negative WAR players. Why would a team trade for them when they can just use their own bad players.

  27. I'm convinced nothing will change with the White Sox until JR is no longer the owner. Until then this is what we will have to watch.

  29. So many things. He led an injury devastated ball club to 90+ wins and a division championship last year with basically have the team injured for the second half of the season. He manages the bullpen excellently. He keeps the attention off the players so they can just focus on the game at hand, unlike Ozzie who was all drama all the time. Now, with injuries ravaging the team again, he has prevented a collapse and kept them hovering around .500 until the players, who have sucked, can turn it around. plus I cant even get into the fact that most of what a manager does in unseen to fans. We have no clue what goes on in the clubhouse, we only know the results speak for themselves.

  31. They won 93 games last year under Tony. TLRDS (Tony LaRussa Derangement System) You think, maybe, the problem could be this team can't hit a lick?

  35. Seems like a huge red flag for the guy who has talked about being here forever, to all of the sudden to be talking about leaving. Then the whole team has looked like they don't want to be here.

  36. The frustrating one to me is how we’ve now passed on Castellanos multiple times. The guy just produces, at a reasonable enough price too.

  38. After all no one could have predicted this team would be dealing with injuries, am I right?
    2 points
  39. Agree! But this all starts at the top with Reinsdorf! Again, I say that Hahn should have resigned when he was forced to sign La Russa, but I guess the GM title was too important to him. I'm getting close to the point where I just don't care anymore!!

  40. The problem with Harrison is we had a lineup that was too groundball prone, too little power and too right handed in the playoffs and there were plenty of complementary players, or at least enough. But they let players that were good complements leave because the Sox know REAL market value then overpay for the trash left behind. Harrison exacerbates all of our worst tendencies, which may have been okay if they added phenom at defense but he is not that either. Him sucking was incredibly predictable. Adam Frazier, Wendle, Escobar we’re all reasonable for 2b to acquire, all providing average to above average production vs RHp so far. Not all fix groundball prone or OBP, but they at least boosted us vs RHP

  41. A few things that make this manager so irritating: *I get that players need a day off here and there. But, with this team it just happens way too often. Add in that many times, it will be a hitter who might finally be coming around (yesterday for one of the first times all year that Abreu looked like his old self, and Anderson on a nice run). The guys who truly need days off are Garcia and Harrison! *Why can't the guys sitting be used as a pinch hitter or late inning replacement? You have at to at least try to win and use as many weapons as possible. For Anderson and/or Abreu to not get an at bat, late in a one-run game is inexcusable. To have the players who are being rested, sometimes not even be in full uniform is ridiculous - and certainly goes against all that the Manager of "respecting the game" seems to preach. *No manager is worse at getting relief pitchers up in a timely manner, or getting two up at the same time. *And during games TLR seems to do absolutely nothing. He is not conferring with other coaches or the players. He seems very disinterested whenever they show him. And the only time he comes off even worse is the post game "dead man mumbling" press conferences. This team is NOWHERE near good enough to throw winnable games out the window, and consistently make the poor decisions that are being made.
