  1. Within 2 years of the cheap talent arriving in the league, which Sox fans had to wait through 3 years of heavy losing for, Hahn has a team with a bottom barrel farm, exhausted budget, and .500 results. That is exactly what he did put together in 2015-16 after pulling back and re setting. He had been in this position for a decade yet has not build a premiere player development or scouting engine. The training staff, for years among the top in baseball, has regressed to the worst under his watch. His free agency record is appalling. All his fault. Perhaps actual accountability being exercised would make everyone focus more on performing their jobs instead of perfecting pushing off responsibility in everyone else. That’s the only thing Hahn is good at.

  2. Earl Weaver knew how to manage. Probably my all-time favorite. If you were a regular player you were on the field or in the hospital. He didn't try to overthink it.

  3. I will always be a Sox fan, but I won't spend a dime on this team until Jerry croaks or sells. I have already given up as far as this window is concerned because this last offseason made it obvious Rick Hahn is not good at free agent signings. Our farm is starting to show life as far as potential goes, so at least its not all doom and gloom for the future. Still, a new owner and FO would bring me back to traveling to chicago to see games and spending on merch

  4. The better thread title might be “what would it take for you to come back.” I check in on the game threads but by and large have moved on with my summer. I’m pretty much down to just rubbernecking the train wreck.

  8. If we get swept by the A's which is a good possibility as they also swept the Astros then we have to blow up this this team of losers and quitters. I don't know if I can take watching this sorry cast of characters any longer. Build around Cease, Kopech, Robert and Vaughn and I'd keep Jose to DH. There are no other untouchables. FUCK JR AND TLR.

  13. It’s ok guys. I heard we’re about to start the easy part of our schedule soon!

  14. Two 1B's in the corners and a LF in CF. Also, this team doesn't hit for power or draw any walks. It'd be difficult to assemble a more poorly constructed roster if you tried doing so on purpose.

  16. I just wish they would fire la russa/ hitting coach now just to see what effects would come out of it in the second half... that is really valuable information we are leaving on the table.

  17. Neither is reliable. And if KW and Hahn remain, then "major changes" aren't happening. Trades sure but it will be to compete in 23, not start a 5-7 year rebuild

  18. The Twins return for Nelson Cruz (at the time, ignoring that Ryan has way exceeded expectations) would be a pretty good comp, except Abreu has more value because he can actually play 1b. I'd also very much like the idea of cashing out on Cueto for whatever the Sox can get but I can't foresee that happening either.

  20. I don’t anymore from a grown ass american man playing american sportsball for a living. It’s sad. The last 30 years have been filled with some of the most egocentric, narcissistic assholes to ever play all the major sports. It’s turning me off from the games I used to love to follow. I’ve been a huge TA fan for years but this year I’ve really been starting to get fed up with the mounting distractions and antics.

  21. First let me just say this is a great thread and everyone's position is fair and justified as a fan. My own attitude is currently apathy. I really don't care too much about the Sox right now. I find myself oddly pulling up Mets or Dodgers highlights and listening to Mariners games to get a feel for some baseball. I'm not rooting for those teams at all; I can't root for anybody but the Sox that was planted in me by age 10 or so -- but I can enjoy other teams playing good fun baseball still. With Euro soccer season and NFL and CFB starting up my interest in baseball in general will probably only last another few weeks. Maybe I'll pick up some of the playoff interest come October.

  22. The Rockies are the dumbest organization in sports. What in the hell are they doing extending a 37 year old closer who would actually bring back legit value?

  23. Right or wrong, anyone who watches every pitch has completely given up. It has been an absolute dismal season with very, very few bright spots. Fans that spend more time talking about the Sox on the internet than they do watching baseball definitely look at our 50% chance of winning the division and feel we obviously still have a chance. I haven't given up, but I would be more interested in selling than buying. The idea of trading anything of value at this point feels like chasing.

  24. Far from convinced this team will go in a different direction in the dugout completely regardless of how the next 10 weeks go.

  25. It all starts with TLR. A truly creepy, entitled jerk. until he's gone ,we won't go to the games again. I still love the Sox, but he is too much to take. That's not even taking in to account how bad a manager he is.

  26. Yeah it's just disappointing. I'm a firm believer in the idea that this baseball team has morphed into the characteristic of their manager. I strongly believe that if we had some sort of a Fiery manager that this team would play a lot better.

  31. Throwing for Chicago: Johnny Cueto 4-4, 2.89 ERA, 58k Throwing for Oakland: Some guy I've never heard of named "Paul Blackburn." 6-6, 4.35 ERA, 82 strikeouts. Pretty much the definition of an average pitcher. Trying to figure out why I've never heard of Paul, I looked him up. He's only pitched against the Sox twice and neither start was remarkable. After 6 seasons with Oakland, he's got a 2.1 fWAR at age 28 for a rebuilding team. After 6 seasons with the White Sox, Leury Garcia had a 2.0 fWAR at age 28 for a rebuilding team. He also represented Oakland in the All-Star game. Now, someone had to represent Oakland. But this guy got in and Cease didn't because the Sox weren't getting two players (Hendriks as a relief pitcher replacement notwithstanding) and the A's are so bad that their Leury Garcia is their All-Star. And they beat the Sox 7-3 last night. So anyway, the Sox can keep losing to the A's and break our hearts because of so many dumb mistakes. Or they can follow this man to victory.

  32. I would rather not make the playoffs than watch a 3 games series where our guys are "focusing on good atbats" to the tune of 17 singles out of 20 hits like last year. That series was embarrassing

  36. I’m at this point. Maybe grab a foille warm body pen arms for very little return just to keep the pen afloat. But this team doesn’t deserve any reinforcement that will cost a top 10 prospect and Hahn frankly doesn’t deserve another chance. Let a new GM sort this mess out this winter.

  37. Hasn’t had a single at bat as a Right Fielder since 12 ABs in 2018. But he’s probably better than a AAA quality first baseman. I would rather play Pollock in RF, Vaughn in LF , Eloy DH every day

  38. You guys are really suggesting a complete house cleaning. I’m on board. I’d hire the Guardians people. It’s just not happening though and is a huge waste of our time. Jerry Reinsdorf has no interest in hiring a new front office.

  40. Dahlquist is at a ridiculously aggressive assignment. He's 2.1 years younger than the avg player in A+. It's never fair to evaluate a minor leaguer based on their stat line and in this case it's really not fair. I don't know why they're pushing some of these guys so hard maybe it's because of the overall lack of pitching but it sure as shit isn't helping them in their development.

  44. All trade inquiries should be halted. It's all lipstick on an old sow. Tonight was a disgrace. The worst thing they could do is trade for a 2-year player that will cost real prospects. The next worse thing is to waste 2nd tier prospects to rent more old guys.

  45. I feel as though I let the board down with my Game Thread today. Had really good feelings the White Sox would make a solid run this week at home. but it feels like I was bombarded the entire afternoon and evening by Tony La Russa's Evil Samurai Spirts. Vaughn benched Sheets in RF because Tony needs more Sheets in RF Robert sent on a commercial flight to catch a cold/COVID for a nonsensical rehab assignment Grandal not catching because that would allow Vaughn to play and we can't have that I let the board down, the city down, and also mankind. I hang my head in shame, knowing that somehow I did not do everything humanly possible to bring a winning streak to this team. I have joined the countless others who had the same dreams and aspirations, only to fall victim to this 2022 White Sox team, a Jerry Reinsdorf, Rick Hahn, Tony La Russa Production.
