Funny Nick Loftin draft story. A team in the middle rounds offered him an underslot deal and he turned it down. During the comp round the Royals offered him an overslot deal and he signed. Problem is the overslot deal was about $300k less than the underslot deal. Hope you fired your agent, dumbass.3 points

Shouldn't he know? I mean, in theory, he was in charge of that sort of thing, at least up through the minors.3 points

I honestly want that. Show JR that this absolutely can get worse, and maybe selling is the better idea3 points

Keeping costs low as JR prepares to sell the team. That’s what I think is going on. JR isn’t dumb so he has to see that there’s no way this team can compete next year.3 points

Started the game thread because, unlike this team, we show up for every game. How will they lose today?2 points

Sox play too many unwatchable games for a sane person to buy season tickets. Hopefully most ticket holders will not buy 'em.2 points

I see the Royals scored in the 8th so I figured Bummer must've come in and I see by the box score that yep it was Bummer.2 points

The Sox would just declare him untradeable and then he'd suck again as soon as they gave him another contract.2 points
-
Why, so he can pad his stats in a contract year while the Sox are gonna suck? He could’ve done that while the Sox were supposed to be contending. f*** him.2 points

They invested in scouting and development and have the philosophy of pitching and defense. When they spend the big money players will perform for them. Even Madrigal improved after some development in their farm system. I don't consider not having him as a loss but he got better. He's now Nicky Four Barrels. I've watched the former players like Abreu and Burger. The Marlins are fun to watch and the AL West got really interesting. Anyone but the Sox is my motto and it will carry on possibly for my lifetime.2 points

Sox issued 2024 Season Ticket Plan Invoices, both of our plans showed a 3% increase so it looks like Sox did a across the board flat increase of 3% I have been a full season Ticket holder since 1991. We are cancelling one of the plans- we can't justify paying big $ for this product. If we want to go to a game tickets are usually 50% of face in the secondary market EVEN WITH FEES. STH Renewals will be very low based on my sample sample size discussions with other STHs, most are canceling their plans. The way the Getz / Pedro thing was handled as an ultimate FU2 points

It was 2011. Around that time The Hangover came out and "Paging Dr. F*ggot" was a big joke in it. Times change. Bringing this up now is stupid.2 points

I'm really looking forward to see was Pedro can do with a real lineup. If course it won't be a Sox team, but someone will give him a second chance.2 points

F*#k Pedro Grifol. Worst manager in my lifetime for the worst White Sox team in my lifetime. How do they manage gut wrenching losses when they're 30 games under? It's baffling. But s%*# bring him back!2 points

“It’s important to provide stability for our players” Really? THAT is the takeaway, Chris? What is it about this team, the effort you see, the body language they show… what is it about them that led you to THIS conclusion? They need a shakeup and actions that clearly communicate that accountability is first and foremost. If you aren’t pulling your weight and holding each other (as players) accountable, then management will hold you accountable.1 point

Words never said about Chris Getz “He’s somebody you want to work with and you want to work for. He’s somebody that every day challenges the way you think in productive ways,” Arnold said. “He’s going to make any situation better wherever he ends up. “It’s probably the combination of both EQ and IQ honestly. He has this great feel with people and understanding and relates to a lot of people in a lot of different ways. And then he’s one of the smartest guys in the room at all times. “That’s a really dangerous combination.” nypost.com on former Brewers' GM David Stearns1 point

If anything, Charlotte would be looking for an affiliation agreement with another MLB team that's going to provide them much better talent/winning or post-season quality teams.1 point

I wish there was something more to say for their inability to look alive and motivated. Ha! I’ll go resale for tickets and parking passes. One thing I can’t trade is spending time at my son’s first game with my dad and I. That’s a memory I’ll always want to have regardless of how crappy this team is.1 point

Team Blown Saves Save Opportunities Rockies 27 52 White Sox 27 50 Rangers 26 52 Twins 26 57 54% failure rate...once upon a time, elite closers use to be at 90% or at least 85%. Obviously the team blown saves encompasses a lot of other crappy relievers...although we did have the most expensive bullpen in baseball until the trade deadline at least. Of course, Hendriks being out hasn't helped matters.1 point

You almost have to hold him through the offseason now. His 2nd half has destroyed his value. Gotta hope he bounces back next year and you can move him at the TDL.1 point

Miami Marlins: Jake Burger’s perseverance paying off | Miami Herald “Hey, just tone it back a little bit,” he told himself. “Don’t trying to take huge hacks every single time you step into the box. Just slow it down.” “That’s something they don’t really prepare you for,” Burger said later on. “You know you’re coming in and you know what you need to do, but it’s tough chasing results. It’s just kind of staying within yourself.” So far, Burger has managed to do that. Entering Monday’s series opener against the Houston Astros, Burger is hitting .317 (13 for 41) with an .879 on-base-plus-slugging mark, four doubles, one home run, six RBI and four runs scored. His RBI single in the ninth inning Sunday capped Miami’s wild, 8-7 walk-off win over the New York Yankees in which the Marlins scored five runs in the final frame. He has safely reached base in 10 of his first 11 games with the Marlins and has four multi-hit games. And Burger isn’t sacrificing power to bump up his batting average. Of Burgers 33 balls play through his first 11 games with Miami, 12 have an exit velocity of at least 100 mph — he’s one of only 18 players to have that many since Aug. 2. “I feel like I’m settling in,” Burger said. He’s still gonna love me the same. That’s just kind of the perspective I try and give myself every single night.” “Multiple times I’ve thought about quitting and being done with it,” Burger said. “There was a breaking point where I actually told my parents that I was thinking about it too. They both just said don’t live with regrets and that I’m gonna regret it if you quit. I’ve stuck to it and ultimately turned out the right decision for me.” Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article278218297.html#storylink=cpy1 point
