  1. Alright boys, one down…two to go! Let’s even this shit up tomorrow and head back to Houston!

  2. I wanted to be there so badly last night but my health issue just doesn't let me get to games easily anymore. But watching it from home I was so proud of the Sox fans who showed up loud and proud! We have always been the underdogs and get such an unfair bad rap from other fan bases. But the truth is Sox fans are just as loyal as any fan base in MLB. And last night the whole country saw that first hand. The park sounded electric. I just knew this team had too much heart to get swept. And I'm thrilled the faithful Sox fans get at least one more home playoff game to experience.

  4. Since we have a day to just sit and enjoy... my God. Nothing could ever compare the stakes of Paulie's Grand Slam. But as someone who was out of town, I've wanted to live in that moment in that stadium ever since and feel that energy. This had to be close. After the Tucker homer, misery had set in in our otherwise insane section of the RF UD Corners. There was this one kid, maybe 10-12 wearing a moncada jersey who never stopped. Always gettin up for every batter, cheering them on, and when Yaz hit that homer it sucked everyone back in. By the time the reliever is coming in for Leury it just seemed inevitable that it was going to be a moment. When it hit 3-1 I was just screaming "turn on it Leury, turn on it" and it was such a no doubter. The next minute was just frenzy, I lost my hat, lost my balance. Leury Legend

  6. I really wish you would lay off the stupid OK Boomer comments. It's like you are saying his comment is age related or that you are saying he is making a stupid comment because of his age. Either way it's ageism and if we don't allow racism or insulting comments regarding creed or gender or sexual orientation why do we allow age related biases ? A stupid thing to do or say is stupid regardless of age . Plenty of people of all ages makes mistakes and say weird things. Couldn't you have just explained a reason for disagreeing with Gammons rather than make fun of his age ?

  9. Criminals usually go back to a life of crime when they get released from prison. Most cheaters continue to cheat. I have no idea if the Astros are still doing what they did but in a less obvious way, but you have to think its more than possible.

  10. Nonsense. It will always be a fair question, and you earn those questions when you decide to be a cheater. They got slaps in the wrist (or less for many of them) for disgracing the game and stealing a WS. If they have to fend off questions forever that’s the least they deserve.

  11. White Sox reliever Ryan Tepera on the Astros: "They've had a reputation of doing some sketchy stuff over there. We can say it's a little bit of a difference. I think you saw the swings and misses tonight compared to the first two games at Minute Maid." Love it

  12. And I simply disagree with this and always will. It IS the players fault if he can’t “bring it” in the 8th. Again, the Sox aren’t asking Kimbrel to play 3B. They are asking him to pitch in a slightly different inning, often times in higher leverage situations than the 9th may be (3-4-5 in the 8th for example) Craig Kimbrel is a relief pitcher. That is his paid profession. Because of that, he should be expected to deliver outs when he comes out of the bullpen to pitch. If he can’t figure out the 8th from the 9th…that’s on the player who has the ball in his hands, not the executive in the skybox. If Rick asked him to player catcher…fine, that’s on the GM. That’s not what is happening here. Sorry.

  13. The "proper" use of the phrase is now WAY beyond that narrow view. Culturally it has gone WAY beyond that. The phrase has come to encapsulate out of touch people who think the world ended with their generation and that everyone from GenX on is some how stupid, lazy, and soft, meanwhile getting their own hurt feelings over being called on those habits. While it obvious has become identified with the Boomer generation simply because of their current status as the 65+ plus crowd, it also ignores that every single generation has gotten to the stage of life where they look down the younger generations as somehow inferior to what they were back in their day. This goes back thousands of years that we know. Socrates wrote this sort of trope. Ok Boomer is the backlash to that abuse, while willfully refusing to change themselves. In a context like this, you have an out of touch Gammons railing on Tepera for mentioning cheating, yet ignoring the fact that this group cheated themselves to a World Series title.

  15. Here's the thing--bulletin board motivational material works well if you really believe you're being treated unfairly. Like, being called a cheater when you're not a cheater. But many of these guys are CONFIRMED CHEATERS, and the rest are playing for what they know is the scarlet-lettered cheating organization. Now maybe they're just irredeemable sociopaths who have blocked the whole episode out of their minds, but I can't believe cheating is a conversation they want to be having in the middle of a series, or an accusation they're excited to defend against, or something that allows them to gin up too much righteous indignation. The reality of it all has to creep in there somehow. This was the most interesting thing I took from my many interactions with Astro fans over my last week in Houston. They all by and large have some feeling of shame, and it takes the edge off a lot of the smack talk you expect from opposing fans. They put on a tough act and try to play the heel, but if you actually bring up the cheating and press them on it they kind of look down at the ground and try to change the subject. They know the cheating is b.s. and just desperately want it all to go away. The players may be the same way, and if so I love the idea of using it to our advantage.

  20. Well, you're a Global Moderator here so i guess you can say what you want. However, the use of quotes strongly implies a verbatim statement attributed to an individual, even if qualified by an 'IF' clause in a preceding sentence. Has Kimbrel made any verifiable, actual statements that would reasonably be considered to resemble the fictitious 'quote' you've manufactured? Satire and lampoon of public figures, within reasonable limits is fair game - i.e. bringing the principle of unpopular speech into the issue (the movie The People vs Larry Flynt actually depicts this process fairly well.) Is your projection to be considered satire? When you then posit the projection as fact: "You’d be ok with that? You’re on Kimbrel’s side?" You're giving up the idea of a lampoon altogether. You're treating the fictitious quote as representative of Kimbrel's attitude where there is no evidence that this is a fact. My point being that, even on a fan based message board, using quotes in this way doesn't simply violate the mechanics of Grammar, it might very well border on Libel. FWIW - I thought bringing in Kimbrel was a questionable decision, especially considering the other needs of the club. Have a great Sox day!

  21. The spotlight wasn't on him though, he goes to games like a normal person. He isn't calling attention to himself about it. There are many casual fans in this city, celebrity and normal people, and there always will be. Hell, Michael Jordan has thrown first pitches out and been to many games on both sides of town and nobody hates him for it. It's dumb just let the guy enjoy the games
