Nick Hostetler is no longer part of the decision making process, Kiley. That seems important. Also, just call it a hitch ya douche.4 points

Not caring about results because that is too easy is all the proof you need this guy is all about trying to show everyone how smart he thinks he is rather than winning a baseball game.4 points

I like your posts but disagree with this one. I look at the lineup daily and actually laugh. And I look at the relievers the Sox use nightly and laugh as well. I don't see these potential all stars at all. I see a lot of horrific ballplayers (to go with some good ones) all with limitations offensively or defensiely.3 points

In reality, the White Sox have been an organization that has provided little access to the press. Jerry Reinsdorf stopped giving interviews a long time ago, and when he did, he put tough restrictions on them. From the start, he has felt that the media didn't treat him fairly. Tough questions can be asked, but they won't be answered. Ask too many, and you will be a reporter with next to no access. Instead, JR tries to control information through his TV and radio people. He never releases any statements himself in any form. As a result, during the 80s and 90s, the Tribune saturated the market with Cub propaganda, and it was like Chicago didn't have another baseball team. All we heard was that Wrigley Field was a shrine, and what great fans the Cubs had. The Cub fan base grew; the Sox fan base shrunk. Nothing has really changed.3 points

Hughes is realistic. Melton would surprise me. I'd be surprised by any college hitter at this point. I think it's prep bat or college arm.2 points

The White Sox are 28th in baseball in largest contracts in team history ahead of only Oakland and Pittsburgh. Until that changes, arguments that they're not cheap are laughable. In terms of guaranteed money(what counts) the largest FA is Grandal at $73M and the largest extension is Moncada at $70M.2 points

Semien is quietly recovering from his terrible start. Nobody thought Pollock had the arm for RF. That’s where Hahn planned to play him before the Jimenez injury. No bad contracts…well, Keuchel, Grandal right now, Leury, Harrison, nobody knows about Jimenez and Moncada, Kelly is a bad contract, Hendriks if he has to get TJ is one of the worst contracts in baseball, Bummer depending on his return to form, Lynn the jury is still out on whether he can ever get back to 2021 first half, Giolito doesn’t have a ton of value right now. Then there are 6-8 negligible value guys. Anderson/Robert/Cueto/Cease/Vaughn/Graveman/Kopech are your only good contracts. You can be optimistic and add Burger.2 points

It was absolutely disgust for me at the only game I've seen in person as the Sox lost to the Orioles 4-0. I sat and watched Baltimore totally out play them fundamentally, especially defensively. Once again, I understand why they fired him but this team under Renteria was fun to watch and easy to root for. This team under LaRussa is frustrating and not very entertaining. I don't know if they've quit on him but this team's problems go way deeper than injuries.2 points

There’s a layer of disgust now for me that has replaced the earlier anger. I float between apathy and disgust, they aren’t even worth getting angry over any more.2 points

What in the world does any of this have to do with how garbage of a manager Tony is in 2022?2 points
-
I think my biggest problem/frustration is that if even Ricky Renteria were still here, we'd be seeing better out of Eloy, Yoan, and Robert (when healthy). He couldn't manage a bullpen, but the team was enjoyable and played hard for Ricky.2 points

I have been to plenty of games myself but it will be the first time we are taking our kids (3 & 22 months old) and have some questions I hope people with some experience can help us out. We are going to the July 6th game, day game on a Wednesday. How busy have day games been during the week when school is out, typically? I read policies and it states diaper bags are okay to bring in with an infant, how strict are they going to be to have one with us? And if they won't allow it what other options do we have to bring diapers, wipes, sunscreen, etc... What rows are under the overhang on the first base side? We are likely wanting to go down the line as far as possible to hopefully have some empty seats around us so the kids won't bother too many people if they want to move around a bit & we also want to be out of the sun to be safe Last questions for now, is there an easy way to meet Southpaw and get a picture with him & is the kids area open now?1 point

well the real shame is they should have been able to use their bi-annual exception on Tristan Thompson, when that could have easily been used here. TT was cool though because he added nothing and was garbage.1 point

Yeah, he was reliable until he suddenly wasn't. That foreshadowed his 2021-22 seasons. We did lack a reliable third. Cease wasn't there yet.1 point

I don't think you want Drummond playing more than 15-20 minutes a game. Everything I've read from Nets and Sixers fans/sites is that Drummond did very well for them in a back-up center role.1 point

If Sosa starts only hitting singles in Charlotte ,I know who to blame. . Charlotte is a bandbox he should do very well there.1 point

We just took our 4 year old to his first game a few weeks ago. A weekday game is definitely the way to go. Make sure to get that 1st game certificate is left center field and yes, I believe we got him up to meet southpaw in around the 4th inning. Enjoy!1 point

This would give Sosa plus raw power from a max EV perspective. ~82nd percent tile. Just around guys like Votto, Jose Ramirez, Torkelson, Arenado, Vaughn, etc. Pretty exciting to know Sosa has that in his toolbox.1 point

My wife has been sneaking around with Southpaw for years. He is quite friendly and you should see him walking around the lower deck. He is afraid of the upper deck though because Reinsdorf took out insurance on him and was going to arrange a fall. Columbo figured it out.1 point

I have been to 2 games with my 2 year old. Brought in a diaper bag and no one mentioned it. They just briefly looked inside the bag.1 point
-
Not busy at all. Late 20s and 30 rows should be fine. Security will let you bring in literally anything these days. They don't seem to care hut I can't say I've tried a diaper bag myself. Left field like section 148ish tons of empty seats. And southpaw hangs out there a lot on the concourse. They used to give away baby's first game gift there but not sure they still do that.1 point
-
If you are above row 20 and past the dugout on first base side you’ll be in shade Majority of game. The rows in the 30s at about section 110 are almost always open. My kids are 8 and 11 now, but I did similar things as you are thinking a few years ago. Southpaw is generally up in kids area about the second or third inning. That’s generally best/only time to get a picture unless you are going early.1 point

Questioning every decision LaRussa makes titillates some of the more aggressive posters here . Most weren't even alive in 1983. Tony will almost certainly remain as Manager for the rest of the season which is only a few more months, so have some patience. I'm still thankful that the Sox stayed in Chicago after the Veecks, Harry Carey and moving broadcasts off free TV/ Channel 9 almost destroyed the franchise. That is a wider perspective that some of the younger more immature fans are probably incapable of understanding.1 point

Well it turns out it wasn’t even grass on the other side, it was an abandoned parking lot full of weeds and trash.1 point

I will say there has been a balancing act between trying to get more out of his starters and not destroying his pen. That bullpen has been an injury riddled mess for so much of the season that sometimes you HAVE to get more out of your starters, even if you really want to go to the pen. So many sore arms and injuries make it a lot more difficult than "he should have gone to the pen" I get WAY more upset about the situational stuff, and really not having a grasp of baseballs rules, etc.1 point

Likely didn't call Tony Sir or Legit Hall of Famer which earned Tony's wrath. Thanks for the memories Lenyn!1 point

too soon to write off Robert as just a slightly above average player, I think he will become a beast1 point

This season is so frustrating because everything looked so bright coming out of 2020. Its like this teams demise started once Tony LaRussa was hired. ?1 point
