  1. More excuse making by the TV hosts last night for Moncada not running hard to first base. Earlier in the game I saw Jimenez do the same thing. Tim Anderson is guilty of this as well. If you are making millions a year show some effort. This is on the manager.

  2. The reality is - I don't think there is a huge correlation here. Guys should be able to run it out, period. You coach it in little league, you coach it in high school, it is coached in college...yet in the pro's we just stop doing it. I don't buy it and guys should do it across the board. Its like load management - I don't see a strong correlation between the guys who do load management and them being health(ier). If anything it seems like in the NBA those are the same guys who are constantly hurt. I do think you need rest - but that is what off days are for, etc. But if you consistently don't do it and than on a play where you need to you put on the gas - that is how I actually think an injury will happen (cause you are excerpting yourself in a way that your body is not used to / trained for).

  4. Yes. Flukey weather and injuries favor us (the bad team), against a contender. We are at the try to steal wins from good teams portion of the schedule.

  5. Yeah.....I would put Burger back at 3B and Moncada at 2B. I realize Moncada wasn't comfortable at 2B earlier in his career but he's a better all around option there then the rest of the black hole at 2B and this is the only realistic way Jimenez and Burger can be in the lineup everyday particularly after Colas is back up. This team isn't going anywhere anyway so who cares if Burger is a butcher at 3B? Just let him play everyday, slug some HRs and it is what it is defensively. And if Moncada is unhappy he is moved to 2B, well too damn bad. Dude's gotta hit to keep his preferred spot.

  7. There’s a difference between an all out sprint and a professional level of running down the line on a routine grounder. Just give me the latter and we won’t have a problem. Dog it, I will look forward to the day you aren’t on the team I root for.

  8. Sox 20-14 Det 16-17 Cle 15-19 Min 15-19 KCR 11-23 Sox have gained 3.5 on Detroit, 5 on Minnesota and Cleveland each in just 34 games. God, this division just sucks. 79 games might win it.

  9. I saw that there were some questions about the club in the DSL. Here’s my preview for FutureSox: https://soxmachine.com/2023/06/2023-white-sox-affiliate-preview-dominican-summer-league-rookie/

  13. I'm completely over anyone on the MLB roster improving. They are what they are at this point. Moncada got so lucky with the bouncy ball in 2019, as it propelled him to over $100M in career earnings. Even if he's out of baseball in a few years, he's set for life.

  15. Hate to have these cancelled. The Sox actually have a shot at these. If they play them in a month, they probably don't.

  16. Who cares about being able to breathe good air? It's fucking sepia toned outside my office window and I can't see buildings past a few blocks. It'd be asinine to play.

  17. Again some of you have not been paying attention to Jake's 3B play this year. He has done a good job with only one error this year. Is he as good as Moncada? No, but he isn't as bad as some of you make him out to be. This isn't Burger from the past few years with his fielding. Plus you gain more respect from the team when you send a message. We are a bad team and realistically are not going to make the playoffs. Even if we did win this weak division, we wouldn't have a prayer to go far and probably be one and done. Having said that, it's more important to start changing the culture on this team now. Finally, the way Moncada is hitting you definitely have a offensive upgrade at third with Jake.

  19. Yeah go ahead put burger at 3rd. Then when he sucks defensively soxtalk will whine and moan about that. Listen I agree with the show some hustle part and moncada irritates me. But if he's gonna be replaced it has to be with someone who can catch the ball. Burger has not shown that. And I love what burger has done and love his hustle. Just not playing 3rd

  20. Can we PLEEEEEASE play Burger tomorrow over Moncada. Or, how about 1st base and sit down Vaughn’s limp bat.

  21. Changing the culture of this team begins with getting rid of players like Moncada. You need a team of players who winning is the most important thing. He got his money and he stopped really caring.

  22. He saved that money by not signing Harper and Machado so he could have it to resign guys like Moncada, Anderson, Eloy, etc.

  23. Baseball-Reference has had the Sox at 1-2% to make the postseason most of the time. After yesterday, Sox went from 2 to 4.7%, which is a huge one day jump for where they are. Fangraphs is at 8.4 to win the Central. By the way, if the Central winner wins without at least 81 wins, they aren’t allowed to call themselves champions of anything. And a locker room celebration before winning 2 of 3 in the wildcard round would be super lame.

  27. One consistent approach can mean many things to many people. I think there are certain ways to play the game that should be consistently taught such as patience . It is a team game and part of your job as a batter is to make the pitcher work harder. Part of your job as a starting pitcher is to get outs as efficiently as possible thus you stay in the game longer and you save the pen. Just as with hitting ,game situations may require a different approach. SO manly a lot of focus should be on how baseball is a team game and always will be. It's important to take your teammates into consideration too when you hit. They want as many looks as they can get at how the pitcher is throwing that day. But changing swing mechanics ,arm angles and things of that nature you can only make suggestions when something isn't working for someone. I'd suggest small changes 1st , such as choking up, moving farther away or closer to the plate. stance , hand position before you start to change whole swings. Plus you have to give an individual a certain amount of time to fail and be willing to try something new. Athletes do not like to change things that have been successful for them so some failure has to be involved to perhaps change their thinking on what could be done to get them to the next level. I don't think its wise to come right at a guy and say you'll never make it if you keep doing things your way. Patience works for coaches too. Swinging a bat and throwing a ball where you want it to go has so many different movements involved. It's more of a science now with bio mechanics involved to see how stressful certain movements are to your body. Plus there are certainly many scientists who do not agree .

  40. I think Moncada's "potential" is way in the rear view mirror now. What you see is what you get. It hasn't worked with him for various reasons, not just a single one. Part of it is "bad luck" but I'd suggest a bigger part is his attitude, like others told me over the winter, people professionally connected to the Sox organization, he got his money (and like some others) now doesn't care as much.

  42. I agree on the attitude but it’s also TA and Robert, all three of these guys look like they hate playing baseball and would rather be somewhere else. Eloy’s got a much better attitude but if the Sox put him back at DH where he belongs he will probably start sulking too.

  43. Nunez Jr. Went 1-3 with a HR, 2 BB, 1 SB and 1 RBI. I responded in yesterday's thread but figured I'd post this here as well. I wrote this about Nunez Jr. prior to the season... Nunez Jr. is definitely someone you are not going to see on other lists. He just signed with the Sox as a 16 year old out of the Dominican Republic. Marco Paddy said they expect Nunez Jr. to get up to about 6'4" which gives him a ton of projectable power. He has a smooth lefty swing and a great bat flip game already, the swag here is enough to jump him over some of the more questionable prospects in the organization. Once the DSL starts up this summer, Nunez Jr. is definitely someone to keep an eye on and see if he can develop into a prospect worthy of this ranking. _____ To follow that, I do really like his swing. Its smooth, got power already on a slightly thin frame which lends itself to much larger power projections than someone smaller. He seems to have nice control of his bat through the zone and has what appears to be a good loft on his swing already. It's obviously a long ways to go for him but as a prospect I like him a lot and his potential to become ranked in the 200-300 on prospect ranks one day and even higher. Me personally I'm close to putting him up with the top group of international signings from January (obvious behind Salas)

  44. Ryan Burrowes, all three Hernandezes (Arxy 3b, Erick LF, and Ronny, c) Carlos Jimenez and Godwin Bennet both have power, and I am intrigued by Arnold Prado, cf. He hit well in the DSL but has shown that much pop yet.
